I wouldn't hire anyone of their "professional" turf installers.

Also known as Simple Turf. Well, they got my last review removed.

So let me try again. Saw their ad on Craigslist and since the business is so close to West Covina, my husband and I went down to look at the turf they sell. We saw one that we liked and the manager, Juan Arango told us that they have about 10 installers and would refer one to us to give us an estimate. So we left with samples of the turf.

Then the installer called us. His name is Hirem Cabrera and he gave us an estimate. He wanted 50% up front and it went down hill from that point on. The turf we wanted was backordered, which we were not in any hurry as Hirem only wanted to do any work on Sunday.

So he told us that Simple Turf had a brand new turf and brought a tiny 5x5 sample, he said it was the same thing only it was thicker 92 face weight and had better spring back when you walked on it. So we said ok. That was a big mistake. We wanted delustered which they called the S blade 90 and this one was high luster.

We had to stop the job. Hirem tried to work out a deal with Simple Turf who advertises no restocking fee and easy returns. Well, Hirem's story kept changing. He said they would not take it back, then they wanted us to store it at our home until they found someone who wanted the cut turf.

Then they would take it back with a restocking fee. We worked out a deal with Hirem to take the turf and he would stock it in their yard and eventually give us a partial refund when he got other jobs. A few months after posting my first review, which was under Irrigation Express, which is another name for this company. They got Yelp to remove it.

So now this is the correct location and name and address for this Simple Turf company also known as Yosef Amzalag Supply and Simple Turf, so hopefully they can't get Yelp to remove this post. Like I said the owner's son, Adam, called me and was upset about the review. I told him the guy his manager in Covina referred to us was unlicensed and charged 50% deposit which is illegal. He told me his manager at the Covina store told him that, now this is where the story gets good, so listen up.

He said that the manager told him that when we came in, we refused to leave our name and phone number so they could refer anyone to us and that Hirem was there picking up some supplies for another job and that we went over and copied Hirem's information off of his truck. I know there was a guy waiting in line behind us when we got our samples, but just thought it was one of their employees waiting to pick up supplies to deliver to someone. I never even looked at the guy or his truck. So either this manager is a pathological lier or this is Simple Turf's company policy to say when the *** hits the fan.

As we had to fire Hirem, it wasn't because of the Turf fiasco, it was when he took the sparkle turf off our yard, we saw that it was nothing but loose rock, no compaction at all. On Simple Turf's website and the Irrigation Express and Yosef supply they advertise for anyone to come and take their turf installation course, it's free and in Spanish. They also say, don't do it yourself, let us send you one of our trained professionals. But the "professionals" they send are unlicensed and at least in our case, he charges an illegal down payment of 50%.

Then if something goes wrong the company didn't work with us on exchanging the turf and now they are lying about even sending Hirem to our home. So like I said in my last posting, if you are going to install turf yourself then you can get it at this location, but don't let them send you any of their gardeners who are not licensed or insured.

It has been confirmed that the person they sent me is not licensed, as I reported him to the Contractor's License Board. Simple Truf AKA Irrigation Express makes excuses about not being responsible for sending out unlicensed and uninsured people to people's homes.

And they still take no responsibility about their Manager at the Covina store totally lying about sending this guy out. Typical. Sad, but typical. Oh and they say their turf is so great.

You can get it at Tiger Turf for cheaper. It's the Tacoma 92.

And Hunny Do give you a LIFETIME Warranty. I would recommend to everyone not only do not hire anyone they send you, but don't even go there to buy anything, it's safer for the public to do business with a real company with real licensed contractors.

We are sorry that you had a bad experience with an independant contractor. Unfortunately we have little to offer you to resolve your issues, as you are not our customer.

We suggest that you pursue any and all appropriate action against the contractor that did not perform as agreed upon. We train many individuals and small businesses in the proper way to install artificial grass, and the vast majority of them are honest and professional. However, we always recommend that consumers exercise due diligence and should perform their own investigation of the contractor prior to signing any contracts or giving anyone a deposit. Some ways to do this are to check for a valid contractors license by doing a google search for "california contractor license search", verify that the contractor has the proper insurance and bonds, and ask to see some of their recent projects in your area.

You may even ask to speak to a couple of their previous customers to see if they were happy with the work. Always use reasonable caution before entering into an agreement or transaction with another party!

SimpleTurf.com is owned by Irrigation Express, and we are a wholesale supplier of artificial grass and irrigation supplies.

We sell almost exclusively to contractors, and though we will occasionally sell to a DIY customer we DO NOT WARRANTY THE WORK OF ANY CONTRACTOR OR INSTALLER. The turf however is of the highest quality and carries an 18 year manufacturer's warranty!

Spoken like a true Attorney. I will still advise consumers not to do business with you.

We have a lot of people stopping by, to inquire about our turf, which was installed by another company, not involved with you guys.

I will be sure to warn them not to do business with you. And I guess having a lying manager in your Covina store is perfectly fine with you, too...Good to know...

Mike Hansen SimpleTurf Customer Service, well Mike, it has been confirmed that Hirem is not licensed. Reported him to Contractors License board.

Of course when I spoke to Adam, owner's son, who is very nice, he stated that your Manager at the Covina store came up with the story that he didn't send Hirem to us, that we hid in the bushes and copied his information off of his truck. Yes, this is what all normal Senior citizens do. NOT! I think that is even more upsetting, to know your employee is a lier.

Anyway, we lost $2,400.00 because of Hirem and your company sending him. Give me a call. I know you have the information, so we can talk about this, if you really want to talk about my review and how to resolve it.

At this point, I don't know what is worse, losing $2400.00 or having to hear from Adam what your Covina Store manager lied about sending Hiram. Hope to hear from you soon...Regards Debra

This back and forth was so interesting.I feel anonymous' pain; as a consumer myself looking to purchase s blade 90, I would be so pissed to be involved in this fiasco. Obviously the installer is trying to separate himself from wrong doing because he can't take the loss, but you would think a company concerned with future sales would accommodate you - cheese ball company. Thanks for the heads up!!!
