Sillman Cartridge Company - Remington 700 Review from Linville, North Carolina

This company is one of the worst gun shop into the western North Carolina. These people will lie to you as many times as they can.

They order a gun for me and the people told me that the company would have it in three days. Well the gun was supposed to be in on Friday, the lies they told me that day were substantial. This was a little bit more than just a lie. As a responsible consumer and business they tell me it will come in on fedex and the next instance the ups truck was bring the gun.

And as for being friendly the people call a lady a "dude", she was very upset. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE.

THEY CANOT GET ANY THING RIGHT WORST EXPERINCE OF MY LIFE.

Will not honor what they sold online

I purchased 250 rounds of ammunition from Sillman Cartridge Company. I waited over a week for the ammo to show up.

When it did not, I called them to let them know I had not recieved my paid order. Carl the owner said he could not honor the price I purchased the product at. Then he said, umm I mean I don't have the product. Either way, very poor service.

Did not not offer to help in any other way.

Will never buy from this company again. Watch out for this company, I have seen other issues online since I have had mine.

I got lucky and missed these scammers

I saw these guys set up at a Asheville NC gun show. I was making my first pass through the show and Carl asked me if I had ever heard of MMC.

I was looking at lowers , I listened to his pitch and said I was going to shop around. As soon as I walked off from the table there was a small group of customers talking about how the Moores Machine products were such junk. I stopped them and we chatted I even bought them a hot dog. They had real world Intel from two they had bought that were wrought with problems.

I bought my lowers elsewhere and they built great guns.

As n after thought I searched the company and low and behold I found nothing but negative reviews and what surely looks like an attempt by the company to post positive reviews about themselves. Shame on them.

I got screwed

I purchased an AR-15 from the Sillman Cartridge Company at a gun show in Fayetteville NC this past weekend. I had several people tell me at the show that the rifles they had were from this really substandard company MMC which is a machine shop that was apparantly at one point making lowers for this company that the BATF shut down named Roggio Arsenal.

Roggio was shut down because there stuff was so far out of spec it was dangerous. This unit that I bought from Sillman Cartridge Company is in that same boat. The funny thing is these guys bad mouthed Del-Ton and their products vigorously. So I bought a del-ton rifle from a local shop and its a shooter and the moores is a hunk of junk.

The castle nut was put on wrong, it is backwards. It was hand tight only. The trigger and hammer pins wiggle out just from shaking the rifle. They blew sunshine up my but about how the MMC stuff was being used by the military.

That is a lie. Warning you should beware of the Sillman Cartridge Company and MMC or Moores Machine and Tool AR-15 Rifles. They are one and the same with Roggio Arsenal, and Timber wolf. Companies that keep disappearing and reappearing under new names with the same junky ***.

A quick look around google will show other complaint boards with gripes about their ammo as well. I have had it with these no name manufacturers at these shows Although this is the only bad AR I have ever owned as I started looking online I found complaints about Roggio Arsenal, Elite Arms, Moores Machine and Tool, MMC, Timber Wolf, and so on. Stick with a brand you know and recognize DTI, Del-Ton, Bushmaster, Rock River, DPMS, Colt LMT.

There is a reason there stuff is so much cheaper than the reputable guys, it is Garbage.

Hello my name is Eric and I bought a Sig 556 and a 229 from Sillman Cartridge and they have the best prices on them that I have ever ran across and they know what they are talking about, they took the time to talk to me even though I did not have my permit to buy a pistol none of the others dealers would even speak to me after I told them i couldn't buy one that day the guy didn't care he was more interested in informing me and making sure I got the right pistol the first time. So he went through all the pistols with me and said to contact him when my paperwork was ready As far as these other reviews this guy complaining sounds like he knows SO much about AR-15s that he would have noticed all of those problems right off the bat because he's such a expert then why did he buy one???

They sell all kinds of AR-15s the MMC is just the best price, did you ask about the more expensive ones or did you just go after the price point?

Drop a grand on a Sig and pick apart everything wrong with that gun. They made buying a gun fun and the guys are enthusiastic about what the sell there alot better the the other dealers at these guns shows!!!

I cant help but notice that five positive reviews were posted all in the course of a couple of hours. All report to be different customers that have all had great expierences with both the MMC trash that is out and around and being peddled by Sillman as well as Sillman Cartridge Company themselves.

Ironicly enough all five of the reveiws were from only two IP addresses. Which is a crime in almost all states and under Federal law. I have taken the Liberty of contacting the Federal trade Commision and reported this thread along with all the negative posts from at least 15 other message boards I have found with similar posts. Nice try guys but again your junk and the masses that you have screwed over that may not even know what junk they have yet will ruin you at some point.

The complaints keep piling up and it humors me to see that even your own positive posts are registered as complaints. I have personally contacted the Better Business Bureau and filed complaints. Next I will contact the Counties and Towns where you have brick and mortar businesses and fill them in on the tricks and pseudo illegal activities that are taking place by this company.

I will also Carbon Copy everything over to the gun show promoters that allow you to set up and prey on the unsuspecting public. Enjoy!

Guest

These guys should be ashamed. It would be one thing if they did not know this stuff was such *** but by now they have to know. I wonder why they continue to sell it since its laden with such problems.

Guest

I can't help but notice a very negative review appears ever week just after a gun show. It really is sad that competition has to come online and bash each other.

If you do the research you will notice this tread coming out of Asheville is basically worded the same each week.

All they change is the location of the gun show. What a Shame

Guest

Instead of relying on someone's opinion why don't you do the smart thing and do your own research DA!!!

I was told about Sillman by a friend that lives in sylva NC. I have never attended a gun show and after reading all the posts on this thread as well as other boards. I easily found negative reviews on 9 consumer based websites and 8 websites that deal with guns. The common thread does not seem to be so much about silman as much as it is about MMC or Moores Machine. There are just too many negative posts from the entire United states in order for this to not be factual.

It does appear that someone from MMC or sillman have posted the positive articles and falsely represented themselves as paying customers. I dont know know which, but that by itself makes me not want to do business with them.

This is not rocket science guys. Do your own research. MMC obviously does not have any real quality control. I cant tell if they are building the rifles or if other people are. There is little to no company information to be found about these huys, just lots of *** and a handful of praises all coming from the same place.

Again I have never been o a show or set foot in a shop that these guys are affiliated with. When my buddy told me about them I googled them and I found all this stuff as well as others on numerous boards. As for me I will stick with Colt and Bushmaster. Too many people hav e been burned by mom and pop, no name companies selling *** like NC star and UTG. You will get what you pay for.

Guest

Just attended the Greensboro gun show this weekend. I own a Colt AR for a reason.. The name. There are other good BRAND name AR's and good parts to build your own. All I have to say is Sillman probably sells hundreds of these to people who don't want to pay for the "name". Don't bash them because you didn't do your research. You wanted something cheap.. I think you got what you paid for. And I have to say, you usually only find bad reviews on the internet. People don't take the time to write good reviews.

With that said, the reason I am here is because at the show both the owner and his wife were tremendously helpful and nice to myself and my wife buying a hand gun. Plus they had the best "out the door" price period! AND we wanted to buy another but only had one permit. They offered to go out of their way to meet us in two weeks on their way to another gun show. To me, that's great customer service!

Sorry about your luck.

Guest

That is true as far as name goes. When you meet someone like carl at a show and he tells you all manners of *** and you think he is honest. Then turns out everything he told you was a lie. It makes your skin crawl because I was had. In fact he told us the only difference between the colts and the MMC were the name. He indicated that if we were buying for resale value the colt would be a better option. If we were buying to use we would be ok with either one of them.

we were sold on the MMC lifetime warranty but turns out thats a lie also. You cant get those guys to warranty them for any reason.

Our only recourse as consumers is to tell the world what they done. Unscrupulous business practices, liars, cheats, crooks, and *** men.

They got me on this "Civilian M4." The 9th round I shot out of this thing the trigger pin rattled out locking the trigger completely. Quick field repair by racking the charging handle back a few times and a little wiggle of the trigger (cleared first obviously) and it sat the pin back in place.

I should not have experienced this in the first place. 9TH ROUND!

Carl was this fellows name. Promised this rifle had been lab tested guaranteed da stuff! Worst rifle I have ever owned.

19 May 2008 I raised my hand to serve this country SEMPER FI. Making FALSE statements that you have served this country as well with weapons is not a smart way to go with your sales pitch.

Still shooting my MMC/Sillman AR 8/9 months and hunderds of rounds later and my CMMG 22 conversion kit. NO problems.

So buy those over priced Colts,S&W etc. Finally got my operation manual my only complaint.

Guest

I bought a MMC/Sillman AR at the Charlotte show in July. Shot over 300 rds.

of 223 & 556 no problems. In Sept. I bought a CMMG 22 cal. conversion kit from Bass Pro Shop, shot over 200 rds 22Cal.

no problems. I must have gotten the only one they made right, but I'm still waiting on a operation manual.

Guest

I BOUGHT A MMC M4 ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. IT WAS USED AND I BOUGHT IT FOR ABOUT $550 CASH FROM SPILLMANS AT A GUN SHOW.

IT WAS MY FIRST AR15. I HAVE SINCE BOUGHT 2 MORE. A BUSHMASTER AND A NEW SMITH WESSON MP22. MY OLD MMC BY FAR OUTSHHOTS THE REST.

NO PROBLEMS AT ALL SO FAR. I HAVE PUT ABOUT 1000 ROUNDS THREW IT.

Guest

Great AR15 MMC has solved, face it its solved, 2013 its a solid AR solved give them a break QA is fine. You want to KILL and American made product your a bunch of *** holes.

Guest

I bought a MMC complete upper for $399.00 from Sillman June 2013. I put it on a poly New Freedom lower.

I have total 650.00 in complete rifle. It is the best. It shoots any ammo and is very accurate. I wish I had bought 2 of the uppers.

I have had all the others and I have found no difference.

I guess MMC has gotten it together. I will buy from Sillman again and it will be MMC uppers.

Guest

What a load no one has really had good luck with any nc product! It's very obvious this is Carl and buddies from nc posting great reviews ! Liars !

Guest

I bought two MMC ar's from Sillman and not only did I get a great price and great customer service I got a great ar. I have fired hunderds of rounds through my guns with no issues what so ever
