I was a fan of Signals for years so I was excited to see them in my mailbox claiming to be "Back and Better than Ever". It's been a big disappointment to discover they've adopted all the worst practices of contemporary online retail and are, in fact, worse than they have ever been.
They now operate in the most invasive, spammy, and inhuman ways possible.
Even their favicon is obnoxious, with an animated "S" making it impossible to leave the site open in a tab without an infinitely looping distraction.
As someone who works in online retail, I sent an email to inquire about the default ~$15 shipping charge for a single silk scarf, comprising next to no weight or size and falling just below their discount threshold. The reply was automated and simultaneously bypassed the question while offering further rewards only on the condition that I sign up for their newsletter.
Had the item not been a gift for my mother I would have bypassed the entire transaction. I was repeatedly solicited during and after check-out, and though I was careful not to subscribe to any unsolicited email, I immediately started receiving unsolicited invitations to their "Rewards" program and other offers from the same email address that the order confirmation comes from, making it impossible to block without potentially missing actual information.
Unsubscribing had zero effect, and most spam emails are disguised as legitimate order updates.
Massively disappointed in this company. After so many years of loyal patronage, they've become just another soulless shill in the crowd.
