Will not stand by warranty
Purchased 4 aluminum clad wood windows in The spring of 2016. Once winter hit it was obvious the air was coming through.
The windows are poorly manufactured and I have to add V strip and thermal tape to each window. SP representatives came to my house three times with no resolution.
All they do is stall, stall, stall. Stay far away from this company.
Terrible product, terrible service.
If I could give 0 stars I would. This is, by far, the WORSE company I have ever had the unpleasant pleasure of having to deal with in my entire life!!!
Their windows are ***! I have multiple windows that have failed multiple times. We've been trying for over a year now to have one large fixed-glass window replaced. They sent someone out to measure, we waited for the est.
It never came. We called only to be told they had no record of anyone being sent to our home. I guess we imagined it. They finally sent someone (else).
It took months to have the glass cut (???). Installation day (finally!) The ONLY positive thing I can say about this company is the install team was very nice, very polite. They proceeded to set up scaffolding in my formal living room (even tho we had been previously told it would be set up outside). That took over 2 hrs.
At some point after that, (luckily BEFORE they removed the current glass) they determined the new glass for the window had been cut too small!! They took new measurements. We waited for a new install date. We informed them we'd be gone the month of May and needed this done prior to that.
Instead of an install date, we were given a date for someone to come back and measure AGAIN. Again, we told them the window needed to be done before we left. Needless to say, that didn't happen. The date we were given caused us to cut our travel plans short.
We returned home Monday night. The install was set for this morning. We just received a call saying they had a scheduling error and would not be here!! Now we are expected to wait ANOTHER week!
And we are expected to pay for this lack of service!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! If you do, you have no one to blame but yourself.
Unhappy with Sierra Pacific
My Sierra Pacific windows fogged up and Sierra Pacific did not stand behind their warranty to replace this. Have been giving me the run around. I suspect they count on the consumer not suing them to get their warranty issue resolved. Very slow, difficult and unhelpful.
At a different site I had Hurd windows. . Hurd windows had gone bankrupt (reorganization) due to the high incidence of failed windows. Sierra Pacific recently bought Hurd windows. Anyone with a Hurd warranty claim now had no recourse. Sierra pacific bought them, and they are making the sub standard Hurd windows now under the Sierra Pacific name. They never honored or covered the warranty claims of Hurd window owners.
Stay away from Sierra Pacific!
Windows starting to fog between the panes
In 2007 and 2009 we did extensive new additions to our house. On the first addition, we used Kolbe-Kolbe windows.
They were and still are perfect windows. The local dealership ceased for the 2009 addition so we used Sierra Pacific since the interior wood frame design were similar. I would NOT recommend Sierra Pacific to anyone. The second addition used three 8'x4' view windows with multi glass inserts.
More than eighteen glass windows were involve. To date about 5 of the glass sections are slowly showing a type of fog on the inner panes. It doesn't look like moisture, but some kind of residue on the glass.
Since we're no doubt pass the warranty period with Sierra Pacific I not interested in dealing with the cheap low quality outfit. I had an experience with one of the window right after installation and they weren't easy to deal with.
Stay away from Sierra Pacific Windows
The company could care less about the quality of their product, there does not seem to be any quality control. Windows are shipped with cracked casings, adhesive coming out from under the panes, gouges in the wood frames and when you try to resolve the issue, calls are not returned, you are treated in a condescending manner and told that things that happened didn't happen.
They have no integrity and no interest in making the customer happy. Sales people tell you whatever you want to hear, go back on their word and then tell you that this is normal.
Sierra Pacific Windows does not care about their customers
Our house in Tahoe has Sierra Pacific Windows. While under warranty, we needed to replace five windows due to moisture between the panes. At first the company employees were very nice and easy to work with.
My problem with them is that it took FIVE different visits and around 12 months for them to complete the repairs. Each time there was a problem. I was okay with it and worked with them to reschedule each time.
The last time it was done, was winter. When the snow melted, I saw damage around the trim boards where the glass was replaced. They said that they replace the glass from the inside, not the outside, and took no responsibility. They agreed that the damage could not have been weather or anything else.
The only reason to work in that space was for the glass, yet they took no responsibility and told me that it is just a mystery. They could not give me any other reasons why the trim was damaged right where the nails are that hold the trim up.
Looks like someone tried to remove the trim by taking nails out, but the wood splintered.
They did not help me fix this, and yet agreed with me that no other worker would need to access that area, and it was not weather either.
A real mystery, all right.
I would not recommend this company to anyone. They do not help you when there is a problem. Do not trust them to enter your house and do window repairs when you are not there. They say they do this all the time and will be responsible for any damage. However, when something happens they deny it quickly.
Considering how much money was spent on their windows and French doors in my entire house when it was built, I think they should have better customer service.
This company does not stand behind their work. They do not care about their customers.

The warranty purchased with the windows was for 20 years. Your defense of the shady company practices and sub-par windows rings hollow. Again, STAY AWAY FROM HURD / SIERRA PACIFIC, unless you want to keep paying to replace defective windows.
Regardless of how many people work at a company, if you make a bad product, you make a bad product. I know numerous people with the same problem, in the same situation.
The resolution to the problem is to stand by your warranty. Which the company is also not doing. So customers have defective products with un-honored warranties.
What - we should be happy about this. STAY AWAY FROM HURD / SIERRA PACIFIC, unless you want to keep paying to replace defective windows.
Is Sierra pacific the same company as sierra window concepts?
You know, there's a lot of fine people who work at spw so perhaps you should consider this fact before you go off half cocked complaining about them. Regarding Hurd, spi bought them in 2014.
Hurds warranty issue happened in 2008. Specific to your home, how old are your windows? Sierra pacific stands behind their product in accordance with their warranty, so if you're not getting coverage from them you clearly are outside of warranty. Please either provide specific facts to support your argument or shut your mouth!
That's the least you can do if you're going to trash talk an entire company like this. Get your facts straight!
Read Anonymous Since you seem to have an "in" with this company perhaps you could help with my 7 cloudy and 15 rotted windows. Any help in getting your so called wonderful company to honor the warranty would be a pleasant surprise.
