Showboat hotel charges us $100 for having a dog

Me and my boyfriend were so stressed from work and needed getaway. We booked for Caesars sweet room but we had to switch the hotel because we wanted to bring my little doggie. I was told that Showboat hotel is one of pet-friendly hotels in Atlantic City. When we made a reservation, we made it clear that we are switching the hotel because we are bringing our pet. We drove to Atlantic City from New York and checked in to hotel. We gambled a little bit and went back to our room around 11:30PM. Everything was fine until then. We called room service for more towels and it was delivered. We were so tired and fell asleep. Around 1AM, phone rang and I picked up the phone. It was from the front desk. They asked us to come downstairs and register the dog and pay extra charge for the pet. We were a little bit upset because it was almost 1AM and we made a reservation for a pet-friendly room. We went downstairs with our doggie and had to wait like 20 minutes to see their supervisor who called us. When supervisor Marilyn (I forgot her last name but her last name was starting with ‘D’) came out, she was so nasty and rude. She said that we did not pay what we were supposed to pay. Me and my boyfriend explained that we made a reservation for a pet-friendly room and lobby staff did not say anything about extra charge even though she saw our doggie. Marilyn stated that the room we are staying is not a pet-friendly room and we need to pay $100 more. When we made a reservation over the phone, representative said nothing about this charge. And when we checked in nobody said anything about pet fee and all of sudden in the middle of the night, Hotel wakes us up and wants to charge us $100 for having a dog? This is so ridiculous. Also I was so shocked that hotel supervisor can get nasty to their customer like this. She was almost scolding us for not paying extra charge for our pet. She just repeated and repeated herself as if we did something terrible in this hotel. It was THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! After 30 minutes of argument, we felt that there is no point of arguing with this person and decided to pay whatever she wants so we can go back to sleep. We signed 3 pages of pet stay agreement paper and were given a cheap pet supply bag which I forgot to bring home. This episode totally ruined our weekend which was supposed to be relaxing and refreshing. We did not feel like gambling or sightseeing. We just went back and sleep. We left the hotel around 6AM. I left my jacket at the room but I did not go back because I don’t want to go back to this place for any reason. I wound NEVER recommend this hotel to anybody either pet lover or others.
