Contract violation

Buyer beware. I have never written a bad review in my entire life but this one warranted my attention.

My contract called for boxes to be moved from a warehouse in Oregon. When the movers arrived, they picked up not only the boxes but a couch, bedroom set, etc. This was done without my permission and in direct violation of the contract that I had signed calling for 10-20 boxes . My representative on the contract was not present at the time so there was no legal representative present to alter the contract.

Who knows who directed the movers but instead of reaching back to me to confirm, ship smart took everything. When I asked if things could be taken off the pallets I was told it would be too expensive to do so. I was stuck. Because there was a timeline involved, I had no choice but to spend the money and ship everything to the East Coast.

I then gave away all of the furniture to charity. All I asked was that ship smart refund the difference, and acknowledge that they violated my contract, doing so without my permission and without the instruction of the representative listed on my contract. After weeks of repeated emails and promises of a resolution, they finally said there was nothing they could do.

As a leadership professor, I recognize organizations of integrity and customer service when I see them. This company does not come close.
