Sell congenitally unsound puppies my 4 yo sheltie from them just diagnosed with liver shunt
- - They breed puppies that are congenitally unsound.
- - Conditions described as water-starved in a dark lot.
- - The puppy was diagnosed with a liver shunt.
already filled this out. they breed congenitally unsound puppys.
Water starved, dark parking lot my 4 plus yo I got from them just diagnosed with liver shunt . Texted me in error alcohol or something else? Told me who she thought was someone else that I was a *** I don't believe she has 7 kids, texted me everybody in her family had cancer.
Tries to play on your sympathys with lies. Unethical horrible people.
User's recommendation: Buy from a reputable breeder the cost in the long run will be worth it. I have spent over a thousand dollars trying to get help for her. This is cruel.
The sheltie I bought from then in dark parking lot 2000. cash only was just diagnosed with liver shunt they should nor be breeding these dogs, mine was water starved, hyperanxious aggressive to people
- - Parking lot is dark; cash only.
- - Water was starved; congenital issues.
- - Puppy diagnosed with liver shunt; prognosis poor.
- - Unethical, profit-driven breeders; cash upfront.
dark parking lot, cash only. Never see parents, water starved.
Congenital serious problems. Mine just diagnosed with liver shunt an almost certain death sentence in the next few years. Unethical and lying breeders for profit only. No regard for the long term problems due to their lack of caring about ethical breeding.
Texted me in error called me a *** I have and will continue to push this puppy mill out. I had to pay 2000.00 cash with nothing in writing.
User's recommendation: Do not buy puppies from sheltie smiles, congenitally unsound with lifetime problems and unfixable disorders.
Poorly bred unsocialized also found out the one we have has liver shunt a deadly result of poor breeding aggression hyper anxious water starved . I think any positive reviews were written by her ***
Sheltie smiles produces under socialized poorly bred dogs who are water starved aggressive hyperanxious and now known to have liver shunt an expensive condition or death for the dog. She lies called me a *** in a text. As long as they get their money AKC could care less about these breeders or the breed.
User's recommendation: Buy from a longtime reputable breeder the price is worth the puppy and reputable breeder practices they do ie take puppy back and refund your money.
I can't see where people say they are well socialized. Very recently she sent me a text and I quote " iam so done with her *** crazy ***
She is unhinged and a nasty person. Don't buy her puppies you encourage their poor breeding.
I don't go on social media at all so who she was talking to I don't know.
I will continue to do what I can to put them out of business. I owe this little dog that.
User's recommendation: Thy produce poorly bred hyperanxious puppies for their own financial gain. Very poor breeding pay to geta well bred socialized puppy somewhere else. She is a liar and totally not right in the head. Said her whole family had cancer, feel bad for her kids if she truly has any.

Verified ReviewerWe love our new sheltie from Sheltismiles.
- - We had a great experience with Sheltiesmiles.
- - Jodi replied quickly and set up a visit.
- - Puppies are litter-trained; pickup day stress is minimized.
We have had a great experience getting our new sheltie puppy from Sheltiesmiles. Jodi, a very busy mom to 7 human kids, was great in replying to my emails and questions.
She happily scheduled a visit for us to come and meet the puppies and pick one out, which is probably the hardest thing we've ever had to do...just pick ONE out of the litter of adorable puppies. The contract is simple and straightforward. Jodi does request that on the day you get your puppy that you not come into the house--this is to limit/avoid the stress to the mother, who will worry and search for the "missing" puppy if she smells strangers in the home that day. The stuffed animal and little fleece blanket that Jodi gave us, which had been rubbed on her mother and litter mates was very comforting, I believe, on the drive home and for the first days and nights with us.
The puppies are litter-trained. After a few days, we began the house training process as usual, but did keep the litter box outside the door to help with any middle of the night potty trips (I have to carry her down some stairs to get to the yard, so if we're in a big hurry or it's the middle of the night the box was there for our back up. Our puppy is very confident, likes meeting visitors, is curious and explores everything, and is comfortable with most household sounds (vacuum, garbage disposal, beeps of microwave, doorbell, talking, laughing, sneezing, etc.). She has instantly fallen in love with our two year old sheltie and it's mutual.
From the beginning she usually sleeps the night through--hurray!
I hope you will conduct your own research, don't just let reviews be your deciding factor. It has truly been a great experience for us.
User's recommendation: Do your own research and don't just rely on others' reviews. If we had only gone by the negative reviews we'd have missed out on a great experience and a great new addition to our sheltie family!

Verified ReviewerThe only place I'll get a Sheltie from.
- - This is my third puppy from this family.
- - The first two pups are happy.
- - One has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
- - The new puppy will arrive in a few weeks.
This will be my 3rd puppy from this family. The original 2 pups have been the joy of our life: happy, loving, so social, and friendly.
One has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. The newest addition to the family will be in a few weeks.
I visit the home to see our puppy. The breeders are so loving; the puppy environment is all one could hope for.
- Great place to get a well socialized puppy
- No negative experiences with this breeder

Verified ReviewerSheltie smiles is still cranking out their puppy mill ill tempered puppies.
- - Bought a puppy in 2022 in Oregon; the pup was starved for water, never handled, and the seller's practices raised concerns about a puppy mill.
Asked early to return puppy and get my money back, when she was still a puppy. I got told "we don't give money back but will take the puppy for free" A reputable breeder would have done both. Do not buy from them help stop puppy mills like theirs!
Bought one of their puppies in 2022, this in Oregon. Had shelties for years sweet intelligent dogs.
This pup had never been handled starved for water all the time STILLworking on re house breaking her. Insisted we meet in dark parking lot at night and cash only. They still have their add up doubtful they paid taxes. I have spent thousands 2 thousand for her and vets trying to get help.
If my latest work with her doesn't help will have to place in shelter . This nightmare has been heart breaking for me, I lost my 14 yo service dog and companion in November. So sweet well trained. She was supposed to help but has not.
They are selling high priced pups who are nothing but puppy mill. Don't buy from them and perpetuate this cruel practice.
User's recommendation: Do not buy their puppies it just makes them produce more ill tempered dogs.

Verified ReviewerSelling unstable ill tempered shelties with many faults causing loss of money and endless hours trying to correct but will never be like my 3 other shelties 2 who were trained by me as service dogs .
- - The seller is cash-only and meets in dark parking lots.
- - Dogs are described as peopleand dog-aggressive.
- - Not a service dog; likely a house/yard dog.
They are still selling mass puppies
They meet in dark parking lots want cash only never see the parents. So people and dog aggressive very unlike the beautiful shelties who were responsively bred by breeder in Washington.
Would have went to her, but she stopped breeding shelties. I train service dogs and spend hours training her but she will never be a dog to walk with much less be a service dog. She is going to be a house and yard dog only. I got this sob story about all the people in her family having cancer, Will have to get another dog to train as service dog my walking companion.
I have not brought to a rescue or shelter because my belief is you get a dog for life, she would probably end up being put down by somebody else. Dave and Jodi Ryan only do this for the money with no thought to the dogs breeding that takes skill and much work as the reputable breeders will tell you.

Verified ReviewerIll bred sheltie puppies a puppy mill
- - Paid 2000; met in a dark lot; never saw the parents.
- - Three prior shelties; two became service dogs.
- - Can't be walked; house breaking restarted; barks.
Dpaid 2000. had to meet in dark parking lot, never saw parents.
Nightmare puppy had 3 prior shelties beautiful 2 became my service dogs. Intelligent, sweet natured. Have worked for almost 3 years with this puppy Can't be walked, had to restart house breaking barks growls and snaps at anyone but myself and I.
Had her to vets nothing helped. Definitely a PUPPY MILL.
User's recommendation: Do not buy from Dave and Jodi Ryan of Oregon city cruel puppy mill
Hyperanxious and difficult to train.
- - Paid $2,000 for an 8-week-old male Sheltie.
- - Hyperactive; kicked from two trainings; sedation needed; reviewer suspects a puppy mill.
My male sheltie was 8 weeks old when I paid $2000 for him. He has been kicked out of two puppy training sessions.
He is hyperactive and is impossible to calm down. He requires sedation to be trained.
I also believe they are a puppy mill seeking to breed and quickly get rid of the puppies for money.
User's recommendation: Do not buy puppies from this breeder.
I paid 2000. for a puppy thinking it would be like the shelties I had for 20 yrs. she was not people friendly when I tried to contact them to get my money back and return the puppy no answer from the
- - They insisted on a parking-lot meeting; I couldn't see their place or dogs.
- - I feel I was scammed; I cannot return the puppy or get my money back.
they insisted on meeting in a parking lot did not see their place or dogs . I am senior disabled and feel they scammed me just wanted a sweet sheltie like I had I should have known better they couldn't wait to get their hands on the money yet would not answer me when I wanted to return the puppy and get my money any reputable breeder would have done that.
My son really pushed me to do this I believe they are a type of puppy mill that's why they don't want you to see their place. My hard earned savings gone. This puppy will require extensive training my others did not.
They are unethical people. Don't fall for their scam!
User's recommendation: Don't buy from this unethical place. They don't stand behind their puppies just out for the money
Bought a dog online and was never told about his tail deformity
- - Bought a purebred Sheltie online; tail was deformed.
- - Photos claimed to show the defect; breeder refused partial refund; I won't buy again.
I bought a purebred Sheltie puppy online and had to pick him from photos provided at birth. I picked him up when he was eight weeks old and discovered that his tail was deformed.
I was told that I should have noticed the defect from the photos provided. I did not. I had planned on using this dog as a stud dog but because of the tail defect I will not, as it is not good to pass a defect like this on in a purebred dog. As I felt I could not breed the dog, I told the breeder that I should not have to pay the full price because it included breeding rights.
I asked for a partial refund and was told that there was nothing wrong with breeding a dog with a defective tail. I did not receive any refund.
In retrospect, I believe this breeder is a puppy mill and they are not concerned about the quality of the dogs they sell. I would never purchase a dog from them again!
- Dishonesty about puppys tail
- Inability to receive partial refund for a deformed puppys tail
Preferred solution: Price reduction

I too have one of their puppie extremely hyperanxious aggeress. Compain to AKC about them.
Just a puppy mill, I may have to put her down cant even take her for a walk. Vet gave me trazodone to calm her down. There is no smile in their sheltie smile. The trazadone gave her seizures .
Obviously brain genetically unsound. I empathize with you. I have reported them to every where I can.
We have to get breeders like them OUT of business. Thank you too for leaving a comment.
