Availability of funds

AI Highlights
  • - Chase holds deposits for 2 days, releasing only part.
  • - Shell shows posted funds and none reflect.
  • - Bonded check credit is pending.

Ive had Shell Credit Union Accounts for years and I also use Chase Bank. I have a small side business and I normally deposit money into chase.

Now chase will put a 2 day hold on my deposit, but at least release a few hundred dollars and acknowledge the balance vs availability. Not Shell.

It says posted doesnt reflect anywhere and Im still waiting on my bonded check to be credited. No release of a small amount at all.

User's recommendation: Be careful, ask credit unions how long they hold your checks for.

AI Highlights
  • - The credit union ran my credit the same day and gave an inaccurate score to push a higher APR; I disputed hard inquiry with Equifax and they lied.

Checked my credit the same day this credit Union ran my credit and they tried to give me an inaccurate credit score because they want me to pay higher APR. I contacted Equifax and have disputed the hard inquiry because they could not provide me the copy credit application, and lied.

User's recommendation: Dishonest

AI Highlights
  • - Early April 2019 payments posted early, triggering courtesy pay.
  • - Staff gave conflicting info on deposits and penalties.

In April 2019, Automatic payments were processed on the due date instead it was early. Therefore, the payments triggered the courtesy pay to make the payments.

I was unaware of the processed payment until 2 weeks later. I have part-time job pay check deposited in to the Shell Credit Union and my full time job pay check into a more established financial institution. As soon as I reviewed my account to see the issues, I contacted Shell FCU and told to make sure the account was positive in 30 days which was achieved. On May 16, 2019, I spoke to Shell FCU Collection Dept.

that told me once the account was positive the courtesy pay would reset in 48 - 72 hours. Shell FCU employees provide incomplete or incorrect information which confuses and causing more issues for the customer. On May 20, 2019, I spoke to an representative (Mona) that totally confused with her information ...1st she says I did not deposit the minimum of $300.00 deposit from 04/20/19 - 05/20/19 and questioned her about....2nd I told her if she review 4/20/- 5/20 there is over a $300.00 deposit. 3rd...she says your courtesy pay was suspended because of early processed payment.

Mona provided several incorrect answers so I asked for a supervisor. I waited for 10 minutes for supv. only to explained the $300.00 mi. deposit is with the month when system says good night and recalculate the deposit nightly.

It is contradictory to what Mona told me.. Instead of 4/20/- 5/20, it is april 1 - april 30 and may 1 - may 31 therefore the system would reflect nightly the total deposit. The supervisor says I will be penalized per their system because it decides whether to penalize the member with 30 days or 60 days. When I contact the credit union the collections dept told me once positive wait 48 - 72 hours which is the norm for most financial institution.

I work for J P Morgan Chase and the courtesy pay is at their discretion but reset within 48 hours. AT that time the customer can use the Courtesy Pay again without penalty. Had Shell FCU provided the correct information with consistency, the customer would not be penalized nor will it cause a financial hardship the member. This credit union do not provide consistent and correct information but still feel penalizing them is necessary.

I posted information on their Facebook page and received with one more condition why my account was penalized. Ex: Fee Withdrawal: Courtesy Pay ...I'm being charged for the privilege of using Courtesy Pay and penalized for a feature they give to members.

Reason of review:
Making up term and condition as they go

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
