Shea Homes - Failure to follow basic builder guidelines.
Shea Homes - Failure to follow basic builder guidelines.
I purchased a new home from Shea, paying above market rates for upgrades. After the 10 year home warranty period we discovered wood rot in the deck, which we paid extra for. Upon investigating the source it was discovered that Shea did not paint or treat any of the...

Shea Homes - Construction defects, major problems
The new house 2016, I purchased was built on soil that was not compacted, there was no soils report done on this particular lot. As a result of compaction issues, the house has settled way beyond alotted construction standards. It moves constantly, causing cracks in...

Shea Homes in Murrieta, California - Nepotism

Way to go...NEPOTISM at it best especially with recent layoffs due to the economy then to go ahead hire family of management and field employees. Sure that the ones waiting at the employment line will be happy to hear but maybe the "economic layoff" was just an excuse to their recent departing as it makes sense why several other things are clearly overlooked within middle management.

Shea Homes in Chula Vista, California - Unhappy Shea Customer

I purchased a new Shea Home in 2005, I was told my windows had a 10 yr. warranty and placed a claim before the ten years were up. They did not cover my windows because the house sat empty for less than one year and the warranty started the day windows were installed. When you purchase a vehicle that sat for one year before purchased you don't loose a year of warranty, why should this not be the same for a house at 1/2 million dollars?

Shea Homes in Los Angeles, California - Bad practice on broker commission

2.3
Details
Brokers know they need to accompany buyers on their first visit as it’s standard practice in the industry. Shea is very clear on their broker policy and have it posted at the entrance to the sales office as well as inside the sales office. There is no way the buyers will know that they need to bring their broker on the very first visit.

We toured a Shea Homes community currently being built in Monterey County. It's called The Dunes. The homes were lovely and we considered getting pre-approved for a Beach House model. However, after doing some online research, including this site, we've decided against...
