Homeless in Atlanta

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Scott Shaw basically did nothing to assist me during the most important situation of my life. He waited until it was too late to tell me I wasn't going to receive any justice.

I had already given him $10,000 before he basically allowed me to get roped into the opposing attorney's plan. Now, (after the fact)... I have reason to believe they were working together. Scott Shaw caused me to lose a total of $250,000 and also lose any rights as a father.

I am now homeless.

I believe Scott Shaw became an attorney solely to rip people off.

He is a horrible man and should never be allowed to represent anyone in a court of law. You have been warned. No ethic.

No justice. No peace.

Insulting and not worth the money. If your female, go elsewhere for representation.

No fight in him or bark unless it's at his client. Didn't even review the final paper work to find ENOMOUS mistakes & lies from the other attorney but singed off on them. Don't make the mistake my daughter did. Your money and your family are at huge risk at this guy's hands.

Shaw Law Firm - Legal Services Review

Updated by user May 24, 2015

This attorney practices in Atlanta, Georgia- be wary!

Original review May 24, 2015

This attorney showed a most unethical way of giving advice in order to make the most money out of my daughter. We had to end up paying this guy in the end because fees were so over the top.

Gave her the worst advice which not only made her look bad to a huge in another state- but also forced her to employ two lawyers at one time and a private investigator (which she never needed in the first place and only caused a ton more trouble for her in the end!).

This attorney added on other services which were unnecessary and ended up making her look bad - and of course for which he billed for. All in all, we wish we could have done this over again- WITHOUT THIS GUY!

Not sure who Mr. McNutt is- but this case was several years ago and your poor client most certainly did not win.

Perhaps your new client doesn't realize that you have a pretty hot temper and you tend to *** off judges- yes you do have that reputation.

I'm sure this Mr. McNutt would just love to know that you have slandered him in this public post and your client would just love to know that you have shared too much information about her and her case. Isn't it a rule that attorneys must also be conscientious of Rule 1.6, to protect a client’s confidences unless in certain instances:

(b) A lawyer may reveal information relating to the representation of a client to the extent the lawyer reasonably believes necessary:

(5) to establish a claim or defense on behalf of the lawyer in a controversy between the lawyer and the client, to establish a defense to a criminal charge or civil claim against the lawyer based upon conduct in which the client was involved, or to respond to allegations in any proceeding concerning the lawyer's representation of the client;

And wasnt' there recently a lawyer who got in trouble for revealing too much information about a client or another in a rebuttal over a negative review she had? In a recent ABA review "Lawyer accused of revealing TMI in response to bad Avvo review is reprimanded; overdraft also cited"....

and the writer goes on to write "“Lawyers should be cautious that if they choose to respond, that their response does not exceed what is necessary to respond to the review and should be mindful that they do not reveal client confidences in violation of the rule.

"

Your response here shows just how much of a good lawyer you really are. Thanks for showing us all!

Hello James McNutt. Mr.

McNutt, the author of this review, is not my client. He is the opposing party in this case. And he LOST the case. My client is ecstatic about our victory, and she most certainly did not write this review, and she adamantly told me so.

My client also reports that suspicious negative reviews have popped up, with timing just as she is in litigation with Mr. McNutt. Funny how my client, who WON the case, would think so poorly of me. When in fact, she does not.

I suggest anyone who wishes to discuss this review further contact Mr. McNutt and ask him why he is posing as someone else, and writing bad reviews about his ex-wife's attorney. I suppose if this is what he must do, I must have done my job pretty dang well.

And I don't hide behind false identities. Scott Shaw

This reply does nothing to make this lawyer look any better. If this really is the owner of the business- all you did here was reveal too much information about your client and assume this is some person that your client was against in court.

This shows poor judgement on your part and as a lawyer I am surprised you would write such an elementary reply. Poor show.

Oh- and dude- have you head of "The Streisand effect"? You should look it up- making threats that you are going to sue people for posting true reviews online is just going to make things worse.

Its our First Amendment right to be able to do so. You weren't defamed dude- you made a *** mistake with other people's very personal information - you made a *** of people pissed off.

Original review Jul 22, 2015

So I am sitting at home and I get an email from my father saying that some of our family and extended family's private information has been gotten by some lawyer in Atlanta... I'm like- WTF?!

I learn from my in law that this lawyer told his client to pay a private investigator to get private information on certain member of my family. He then sent it to several other people- some in another state- who then included it in court filing and without removing the social security numbers and it was online for a while for everyone to get a hold of. Scott Shaw should have known federal law requires lawyers to act in the best interest of all people when they have sensitive information like SSNs, addresses, Dates of birth, etc. in their offices.

You don't go around emailing to everyone - and then have it show up on some public internet site so that other people can pay for it! I was so pissed. Then I heard about his public statements on another review on this site blaming his client's ex for making negative reviews?! Dude- what are you smoking?!

Do you know how many people you have pissed off with your private investigation report and all their information being published online no thanks to you emailing it to everyone?! Like a million people dude! False allegations on a public review site?! That's major defamation and really bad judgement coming from a lawyer who has "years of experience".

First of all- from what we have heard AND read in ALL the court documents- (which can be uploaded to this website by the way for all to see the truth)- everything that person claims in that last review ACTUALLY HAPPENED- there is no denying that! And your claims of winning that case? From what I saw on the court documents- again they are all public record- you were never even assigned to that case! But I did hear that you have a case to be played out in Georgia and I did hear that you showed your *** in front of that judge before...

I say Good Luck with that one! And - why would you have your own client pay for a Private investigator's report that she has no justification to get in the first place when that puts her in a very precarious situation later if it is questioned? Dude- you threw her under the bus for real- you covered your *** on that one- gotta give you that much. It would have been a bit more understandable if you, a lawyer, had ordered that PI report and those Socials that it does for her to have ordered them.

Identity theft?!

I know this background check affected two large families and many exes and their children. All these people have been contacted and some filed complaints against you and that other crazy lawyer who posted all of it online in the other state. OF course- you sent it to him and you had the power to black out all the private information- but you didn't do it.

You got a *** load of people pissed at you guys thats for sure.

DON'T USE THIS GUY- IN MY OPINION, HE GIVES QUESTIONABLE ADVICE TO HIS CLIENTS AND HE DIDN'T KEEP PRIVATE PERSONAL INFORMATION ON OTHER PEOPLE PRIVATE WHEN HE HAD THE POWER AND THE KNOWLEDGE TO DO SO.

This attorney hasn't won anything! He recently withdrew from this case and has left his client high and dry....

on her own...

shows his true character for his lack of advocacy for his client... pretty sad.

Wow - this guy is totally nuts. When you launch into an attack that much over some legal thing, you know you've lost it.

Sounds like the attorney did what the attorney was supposed to do - work for his client and if you don't like it, then get an attorney to work for you. But to slam the opposing attorney for beating you . . .

pretty lame . . . just saying .

Unhappy Divorce Client of Scott W. Shaw- Atlanta Attorney

shawlaw.com

5 Concourse Pkwy NE #3000, Atlanta, GA 30328

DO NOT RECOMMEND

Nightmare! Misspellings, duplicated billing, addition errors, makes assumptions then proceeds as if there are no options but the one he recommends; settlement agreement missing; important information for the case to be in favor of the client, confusing conversation and invoicing. He seemed smart and qualified at first, but as you learn his pattern, he is scattered, unorganized, and tells stories you pay for when you see your bill is greater than the amount of work you think he performed.

Unimpressed

Family member used this guy and interestingly enough gave me a head's up about the latest postings on this site about him. After knowing what my family member went through during their acrimonious divorce and how little it seemed he did for them (according to my cousin who went through many months of this torture)... and then reading this guy's apparent response to another review below pretty much sums it all up.

Basically- hot tempered, unprofessional, and well- his reply just says it all really. Not a good way to market your business or professionalism but from what we have heard- it didn't surprise me that much.

His reply is now all over town- at least where we are from-word travels fast in these thar parts...

He pushed me to get the win

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had to post this here, as I've already posted it on AVVO, but some whiner is out here bad-mouthing the attorney who kicked butt in my case and I just had to say something about it. Mr.

Shaw saw me at my worst, going through the worst time in my life, my divorce, yet he kept me focused on the real goals (not my overly emotional, unrealistic expectations) and pushed me to do the work it took to help him win my case. He kept telling me it was my leg work that won, but really, it was his pushing me and keeping me strong even when I wanted to cave, that got the win. In hindsight, it was the more horrible time in my life, and I thank God I had Mr. Shaw there to get me through it.

He was blunt, to the point, called me out when I was wimping out, and was my champion.

I highly recommend him. Oh, and for the wimp who is using a public place to try to cover up for his obvious loss in court with MY attorney beating him - GROW UP - YOU LOST BUDDY!

Trusted Counsel and Great Advocate

When my marriage entered choppy waters, I interviewed a few attorneys who all gave the same bland answers which left me hopeless about what I wanted and felt deserved to get. Then, based on reviews in this forum, I spoke with attorney Scott Shaw over the phone and then met with him at his office.

Scott impressed me immediately by not only grasping the concerns I had, but also by suggesting ideas/strategies that gave me the confidence that I had a good shot at getting the outcomes I was hoping to achieve. That was a big step forward for me. From there on, trust started building and I relied on Scott to help me out with a couple of tricky situations where I found him to be both timely/responsive and creative in coming up with excellent solutions. Throughout the case, Scott provided solid legal counsel and great friendly advice.

He was a busy attorney but was generally accessible fairly quickly, even during weekends, which translates to “peace of mind” in difficult times. Another characteristic that stood out was that he made a conscious effort to keep the legal fees low even when he could have taken advantage of my desperation at times. How often can you say that?! All said and done, Scott was a terrific attorney and a consummate professional who genuinely cared about my case and the way he provided his services.

He has my heartiest recommendation! Bravo, Scott, keep it up!
