Shaun Hamp Great guy and very knowledgable

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had four jobs done by Shaun everyone to my total satisfaction. Two ACs changed and two repaired. A great guy and very knowledgeable. I don't know why there are these bad reviews on him but I never had an issue. He also recommended what type of AC to buy and not waste my money when I was faced with changing my AC. ME FLow is the company that busted my AC and wanted to charge me a lot more to replace it with a new one. Glad I use Shaun instead of ME Flow which I basically consider them to be dishonest and costly. I recommend Shaun to anyone who is looking for an AC repair

Installed Mini-Split AC badly and now it leaks!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I found Shaun listed on Craigslist as an HVAC tech named Mike. Shaun came over to my home on May 23, 2015. He agreed to install a mini-split AC unit in my living room. He arrived late and short on materials. During the installation his co-workers (the two guys he brought with him to help on the job), repeatedly remarked that they had never installed a mini-split before. Shaun himself seemed more confident, but the pace of work soon convinced me that he may be in the same boat. I won't talk about his manner or attitude, because I prefer to judge the man by his work, and my criticism of that is ample. Originally, I was told that the job would take a maximum of 2-3 hours. After all was said and done, Shaun and his crew spent 7 hours in my home. They didn't leave until 11pm. When the work was done, Shaun insisted that I pay him $200 on top of our existing agreement. When it came time to fill out the check, I found out that the original name I had been given (Mike), was not his real name. He explained that he had been using a psuedonym online, because many customers had made (what he categorized) as false complaints about his work due to some self-described "personal vendetta". He also enlightened me to the fact that he was currently on temporary release from incarceration due to a *** assault charge". I can't begrudge a man for running afoul of the law, but it would have been nice to know the man's real name before I invited him inside my home. Not one day after he left, the system began to malfunction with a nasty water leak inside my home. The reason was pretty clear, even to a layman like myself. He had installed the unit at the wrong height and angle, thus the water would not drain out of the installed line. When I tried to call him back, I got no reply. Eventually I gave up on calling him and resigned to trying another HVAC guy. He came to have a look and reiterated the issue to me, explaining that I would need a total re-installation (at great cost). Needless to say, I could not afford a total re-install, so I've been manually siphoning the water from the line by sucking on the hose end outside to create suction. Flash forward to 2016, and this is still my main method of ending leaks because I simply cannot afford a total re-install without putting myself into a financial bind. At the end of this, I will eventually need to have the unit re-installed and I will likely never hear from Shaun again.

Scammer-unfinished work

Quoted job at a price but refused to provide a contract. Work started fine, but then he kept asking for more $$ to buy materials and pay his workers. I kept paying but the job stopped, after asking for receipts of materials, he kept saying he would bring them and never did. Came back with lame excuses and never finished the job. Left roof unfinished and because he never finished it I had water damage among an unfinished deck and porch. Unreliable, untrustworthy and a loser, he has Karma against him big time. Talks the talk but cannot walk it. I rate him a big fat zero OOOO

Shaun Hamp came back to the job and finished it.

I had file a complaint against Shaun Hamp about a job he was doing for me. This job was at a house which was going to be in closing. I was in a rush and I guess he was busy. After a few tries he cam back and finished both the stove and the furnace. I am writing this report to correct the earlier report I wrote against him. I am satisfied with his work and I recommend him to others. I am writing this report to correct the earlier report I wrote against him. I am satisfied with his work and I recommend him to others.

Shaun Hamp, Remodeling/construction

Hired Shaun Hamp (Oak Hill, VA) to do a deck and a fence for my home. He did the demolition on 6/23, and we got approval from the HOA on 7/15. Since then, he has not showed up 5 times when he specifically said he was going to. One of his men started digging the footers, but he never pulled the permits, and he left the footers incomplete, leaving dirt piled up on my lawn. He left it this way for three weeks and never came back. He then said he'd give me my deposit back (which he had since end of May, to order the materials which never came) and he would come by on Saturday 8/30 with a check. He never showed. Emails and phone calls later - no response. BEWARE Of this guy! He's a scammer. He advertises on craiglist daily. His listed phone number on his advertisements is 571-241-****, in case he doesn't post his name.

Needs to be deleted. Shaun made good on the refund even when he was hitting some hard times.
