Verified ReviewerStructural Issue not Corrected.
- - Two issues were found; only one fixed.
- - A floor-support issue violates IRC R-502.5 and was not corrected.
- - They refused warranty relief; cost $5,600.
If I could give negative stars I would. We bought our Sharp house in 2004.
Our inspector uncovered two structural issues. We were assured both were fixed. Only one was corrected. The one that violates code IRC R-502.5 - relating to floor support, was not corrected.
We uncovered this when we sold our house this past August. Since Sharp only adheres to a 10 year structural warranty, Sharp refuses responsibility. We had to pay $5600 to have the issue rectified that Sharp claimed was corrected in 2004. The VP Mr.
White emailed me stating I was out of luck. They refuse any responsibility.
Tom Sharp himself replied to that email with me in the email distribution stating it was “excellent” that they were denying responsibility and refusing to reimburse me. I will never again buy a Sharp built house.
- Warranty
- Workmanship
Preferred solution: Reimbursement for what I paid to correct original issue
WORST COMPANY
- - Warranty work wasn't completed; visits failed.
- - Prices rose after signing and were not honored.
- - AC leak, heater failure, and garage leak unresolved.
We build a house using this company almost 2 years ago. It has been the WORST experience.
From construction workers peeing on the plywood and tub of our "brand new house", to incompetent staff who can never get things right.
Prices of the items I had to choose for my house increased coincidentally right after I signed my contract. They didn't honor prices that were in place still when I signed the contract. I ended up having to pay much more for some items.
Almost 2 years later and after SEVERAL visits from construction workers who were supposed to do the 1 year list of warranty coming to our house, things are STILL to be done since some workers never showed up or couldn't finish their job on the day they came. Sharp now claims they won't be doing anything else since everything is "done" even though I have clear e-mails and documents in which they are aware things are NOT done.
From ar conditioner not working (they found a leak and said would test again on Summer since it was "too cold" to see why it wasn't working and STILL didn't do it), from water heater not heating water... you name it this company will give you all. Did I mention we had a main leak on the garage days before our closing? They had to open the floor and wall.. yep.. we went through all this *** on a "NEW HOUSE".
I am seeking a lawyer to end this nightmare.
I WOULD NEVER E-V-E-R recommend this company to someone who is building their dream home.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
