Money
I had money taken out of account by employees. Even employees admitted it. I had about $995.00 in account and it was mostly from Apple account. I looked at the account several months ago. I was told by an employee that the stock was split into 7. I thought this was Apple's thing... I later thought this can't be Apple. This would be illegal for them to do this to anyone account. I plan on talking to the manager and getting a copy of June report and also maybe May 2014 report. No one SHOULD have any authority to touch the stocks or taper with them. The stocks are significantly less by $600.00.

Deposits Accepted - Withdrawals Denied - Messy customer support
Sharebuilder is no more. Capital One is not Sharebuilder. Not even close. Customer support says I can only withdraw money into the bank account I initially used the fund the account back in 2007. It's almost 2014. I don't have that account any more. This problem is now too complicated for Capital One to deal with. I tried withdrawing money into accounts that worked without problem before, even accounts that are saved in my Sharebuilder withdrawal history, but now it is a problem because... well... no particular reason, just a change in policy. They can change policy whenever they want to. It's in a policy somewhere. If not, they'll make it up. Anyway, I can't trust these people. This brokerage account is useless if I cannot move money in and out of it without obstruction. Well, moving money into it isn't a problem at all. Moving money out is a challenge. If anyone else experiences this problem, just pull out. Customer service can't help you. Capital One seems to be stuck on ***. Just pull out.

Verified ReviewerUnilateral liquidation of asset
I would like to know if there has been a class action filed against Cap One/Sharebuilder for a recent action. I received a letter informing me that they were unilaterally liquidating an MLP(PER) in my IRA due to tax consequences. I've held the MLP for two years and there was no mention when I purchased it that I could not hold it in an IRA. Unfortunately the asset is DOWN 41%, but it does return over 18% so I'd like to hold until I recoup at least part of the loss. I get no satisfaction from their c/s people. Any ideas?

Sharebuilders is a Mess
I had two savings accounts and an online brokerage account with ING Direct. ING was taken over by Capital One, so now my brokerage account is with ShareBuilders. They are a complete mess. First, I purchased Facebook stock on the day of the IPO. What a fiasco. I planned on day trading the stock and selling on the upswing, but they could not confirm my purchase until the following day. OK, that may not be their fault because the Facebook IPO was a complete fiasco because NASDAQ completely blew it. I sold stock and ordered the funds to be bank wired to my checking account for a fee of $30 because I needed the money that day. I could have had the money transferred in 3 days for free. On the forth day I see the money still has not been transferred to my checking act. When I call, they said there had been some kind of problem "verifying" my account, so the money had not been transferred. They never notified me, they never did anything. Lucky I called. After spending a whole afternoon on the phone with them, they managed to transfer the money on day 5. I told them I shouldn't have to pay $30 because the money should have been moved 5 days ago. They said they would credit may account for $30. It gets worse but I don't have time to go into the rest of the details. The point is that they don't know what they are doing. Avoid this company. It's a joke

How a Bank Steals Money by "Not Receiving" Paperwork
Seven times my financial adviser sent forms to Sharebuilder's Washington office requesting they transfer my ROTH IRA to her company--with my signature. They claimed the first time there was no Medallion Signature Guarantee, the other 6 times they claimed they never received the paperwork. Now, fancy a bank that claims it does not receive requests to remove money from them! Better yet, when I screamed on the phone to them that I was going to contact a lawyer and sue them the money miraculously left my ShareBuilder account and arrived in the form of 2 checks to the company that had sent over oh-so-many copies of the same paperwork. Unfortunately, they didn't send all the money, so I'm still fighting. My first contact was August 6, 2012; today is January 14, 2013.

Verified Reviewer | Gurnee, IllinoisIllegally took my money
I logged in tonight to see how my stocks were doing. 0.00 balance on 2 accounts. WHHHAAATTTT? I see they took all the money and wrote off the accounts for "Abandonment". I search the FAQ's and they themselves say state law says any account left unattended for 3 years is considered abandoned. I check my mails and see the last time I logged in was 6-2010. THAT IS NOT 3 YEARS. I am filing a complaint with BBB and whoever else I can think of. Going to call the states attorney wherever they are located also. They stole my money. BEWARE of this operation.

Sharebuilder is a big scam ripped me off twice
I opened 2 accounts for my kids to take advantage of a $50.00 bonus offer. I followed all the instructions they told me to qualify and in fact I emailed them within the window they gave me and they told me to wait that the money would be sent to my account within 3 to 6 weeks. The money never came and when I contacted them again I got 3 different answers from 3 different representatives. What a joke. This company ripped me off and lured me into opening these accounts and never gave me the money they offered me. I moving my money and my kids money out of this place. I am disgusted by this company with no morals and no ethic.

Sharebuilder shafts me again.
This morning, one of my companies submits absolutely horrible news. I've made quite a bit of profit in the run up until this news this morning, so I quickly try to access the website--but it's down. It's down!!! I'm sweating, frantically trying to access the website before all my profits melt away and I can't access it. Now, the website is still down, and I've LOST about $20K dollars..thanks to their website being down and restricting my ability to trade. Thanks Sharebuilder. I will never use you ever ever ever ever again!

Sharebuilder screwed me good
I was trying to roll over a 401k from another financial institution after changing employers. Sharebuilder sent me an EMAIL to let me know that they 'don't do business in my country of residence' The problem is I am a US citizen and reside in the US. I just wasn't physically there at the time the money would have been deposited. Since when does that establish residency?????? Well they refused the money and now my entire 401k sits in limbo between banks. The old one won't take it back because I am no longer in the employer plan. Sh*tbuilder won't deposit the money because I am out of town and I can't do anything with the check because it is not made out to. So what am I supposed to do? 'Contact customer service when I am back in the US' Yeah right...whatever....

Sharebuilder.com screwed me again
I called shabuilder.com tech support and they told me that there is no way to avoid the large order surcharge. After ordering over 44,000 shares I found some information in their help files. "This surcharge is not applicable to investments made with an Automatic Investment Plan." That cost me more than $789.

Sharebuilder.com screwed me 2 times
It was 1:40 PM Pacific Time on Monday and I noticed that my deposit would not be available until the next day and I wouldn't be able to buy until Wednesday morning. Sharebuilder.com tech support was helping me to be able to set up Express Funding and I could buy Tuesday morning. He told me to cancel my transaction and setup Express Funding but didn't tell me that wouldn't work for the stocks that I was buying and when re-established my transfer it after 2:00 PM and would have to wait an extra day. I lost my low price and it cost me over $1500.00 more to buy.

I ran into the same problem with them. Less than 30 days notice is not sufficient for a policy change of this magnitude.
Down $24k when they forced the sale this morning despite attemting to transfer assets to Scottrade. I'm all for a suit against them.
