Verified Reviewer |I like their product, but they never have gotten back to me regarding an inquiry in regard to their product.
I was unsuccessful in buying their product from their site. Alternatively, purchased from Microsoft Play but was asked for a Product Key in order to use the product.
I had not been provided with a product key. I contacted Microsoft for help. They directed me to Serif.
Serif never responded to any of my attempts to contact them by phone or email. The people at Microsoft were ultimately able to help me, but no, thanks to Serif.

I INSTALLED EVERYTHING, READ ALL THE USER GUIDES ETC. AND THEN IT WOULDN'T LET ME REGISTER OR GET TO THE PROGRAMS!
I just installed 2011 SERIF (Europe) LTD.'s ALBUM PLUS ORGANIZER & PHOTO PLUS ESSENTIALS from the DVD/ROM, and read the whole USER GUIDE. Then I went to use the program/s but instead it took me to a Registration form every time.
It said that it isn't necessary to register, but it won't let me into any of the programs without getting past the Registration form.
No matter how many times and in how many ways I completed ALL of the required fields,(they were very basic, only 5 or 6 things) I get the same thing...
"WE ARE UNABLE TO CREATE THIS USER ACCOUNT".
No reason given. All the fields were properly completed. And yes, I tried several passwords, all as specified by Serif (ie. using at least 6 lower case letters and one or more numbers, no spaces, no other symbols, etc..)
Big waste of time. I tried contacting them for HELP in a number of ways/forums/support etc., BUT THEY WANT MY PASSWORD BEFORE THEY'LL TAKE A QUESTION!!
Do you KNOW how crazy this makes me?! Of course you do! That's why you're www.pissedconsumer.com!! And so am I! Well I'm really pissedconsumer_notcalm!! :p
If I try to enter the Serif programs from another point, it asks for my Registration Key but of course I NEED TO ENTER MY PASSWORD TO GET ONE so that's been a waste of time as well.
I rarely have time to indulge something just for fun and I spent hours with this nonsense today. I'm pretty much out of patience now so I'm not sure I even will try this again, but I would like to know what the deal is!
~ A very frustrated first (and last) time Serif customer
Serif misrepresented product
I was solicited by email to purchase a web design product called WebPlusX5 at a discounted price. I was aware that this company had telephone support for its products.
I was not told that the special offer was for an outdated product and that phone support would not be available. After spending several days constructing a website, all my work including backups was wiped out by the software crashing. The attitude I got from their customer service was that I had purchased an outdated product and that my only recourse was to communicate with support by email. That would have been fine if they had disclosed the limited support I would receive when they solicited me to buy the discounted product.
I was refused the opportunity to take up the problem with their marketing department. I was told the marketing department does not take calls from customers.
Serif PagePlus X6
Product was only released to get consumer of X5 to upgrade. Their software crashes on bookplus PDF export and they know it.
Many people complain and they are currently are still repairing X5 with patches. Their internal effects generator make your graphics blurry and useless. The program is not very user friendly, weird drop downs, and nested operations. To make it look expensive they have triplicates and quadruples of ways to do the same things.
I need to publish my book document, but it is taking me longer to setup my document in their program. It has taken longer than it took to write, and I had to go back to the old X5 program to make a PDF.

I have been a long time Serif customer - owning nearly a dozen of their software including PagePlus versions X3 up to X6. The PagePlus X6 release has been a major disappointment.
For those of us authors who use PagePlus to construct books there are two major flaws with the book project files and creating PDF files to upload to publishers. So in effect PagePlus X6 is totally useless for authors. The first patch did not contain a fix, but they assure the next patch is going to fix these major flaws. Yet they make no allowance beyond the 60 day money back guarantee - such as offering a future discount for major inconvenience of buying shelfware.
I've had to revert to PagePlus X5 and I am no longer going to be buying Serif software products.
I cannot believe they would release a version where one entire feature/capability was clearly untested. :cry
