Took my money

I had a 2-year agreement with Sensible Home Warranty that cost me $660. I've never needed any service until now, and I'm learning that the company went out of business. Is there a class action suit against the company? Did they open under a different name? Waldorf, MD The rest of these words are entered to meet the 100 word minimum. As of 19 Nov, 2015 the issue noted above from Waldorf Md is not resolved. This company went out of business a few months after I signed and paid for a 2-year agreement.

Sensible Home Warranty Work Experience Review from Duluth, Georgia

I worked for Sensible Home Warranty and I quit 3 months after I figured out it was a fraudulent company . This company is owned by a bunch of corrupt Jewish men ( no offense to anyone ) they wear their yamakkas and smoke week and go to strip clubs during the week . They used a Nevada address for tax purposes but the office where all the scams happened was located in Brooklyn right above a TD bank location. They used fake names and treated the employees Ina rude and horrible manner . These dudes are going straight to *** .

Went out of business only months after I purchased service and I have seen no refund!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased a home warranty through them in January of 2014 and only a few months later they apparently closed their business without contacting me or offering me a refund on the prorated next 2 years of service coverage. I'll be filing trying to find out how to go about working with the legal system to get my funds back as the service cost me around $600.00. Whether they knew they were going out of business or not does not negate the fact that they not only did not contact me about the service ending, but they they also offered no refund on services I paid for that will not be present. If anyone discovers anything please post it here.

Same thing happened with me! I bought a two year plan in May of 2014 to end May 2016..

Apparently they shut down a month or 2 after I bought it and never told me, nor offered prorated refund. I filed a complaint on the BBB site.. but what else can we do to get our money back from this company? I hear Nevada residents can contact the Nevada Dept of Insurance and get some money back but only for Nevada residents.

I live in California where the Dept of Insurance has no clue about this company or any way to solve this issue for me.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Pam

We are a HVAC company located in the Northern Va. area and was contacted by Sensoble Home Warranty in Late November of 2013 to take on some residentail repairs.

So we did so like we have with some other Home warranty companys in our 15 years of Business. We would get the service ticket in for repairs, contact customers, schedule repairs and collect our $45.00 from the customer and wait to get the work authorized from Sensible Home Warranty. Some would get approved and some would nerver hear from them again. But we the company offering our service did not get paid for any of our services or repairs!

We now have to go after the customers to collect for our labor and materials.

This company has put such a bad light on Home Warranty companys out there and we will never offer our services to a Home Warranty company again and advise all other HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Business out there to do the same. BE AWARE!

Sensible Home Warranty refused to pay for my claim, and ignored my subsequent calls.

I Purchased a 2-year policy and when the air condition fails, they refuse to pay for the repair and services. I ended up paying over $2500 out of my own pocket to get the air condition replaced. They just took my money and ignored me. If there is a class action law suit I could love to join with and get my money back! I really think that they were running a scam. Does anyone out there knows if there is any on going class action law suits going on against Sensible Home Warranty and if here is any way to join to file a complain against that company?

Sensible Home Warranty crooks need to be sent to jail

I bought 3 year home warranty in April 20, 2014 after constant phone calls and emails by their marketing people, only to find out today that they went out of business. I have never used them once. Today my microwave stopped working. So I found their number to call, but the phone number no longer valid. And I searched online, only to find out they went out of business in May, one month after they sold me 3 years service. This is a total scam. They stole over a thousand dollars from me a month before they went bankrupt. They knew this before they sold me the warranty. Those crooks need to be sent to jail for their fraud.

Total rip off by "Sensible Home Services"

I needed a home warranty and i got hustles by Sam at this company. They were already out of business but being highly recommended by http://www.homewarrantyreviews.com/reviews? "Sensible" took 250.00 out of my account and I can't even find a real number to contact them to get my money back.I am on a very small budget and that is why I need a warranty in case I need something fixed. They are and were already out of business when they did this to me!Bank BBB and The AZ states attorney generals office, I made complaints to all three said they could do nothing. So I am out the money and can't afford another warranty until I get that money back! Can anyone HELP!!!

Sensible Home Warranty - We want our money back

At the end of May our garbage disposal went out. I went online to find their number, only to find out they have "shuttered their doors." I still had 1½ years left on my 3 year warranty. I sent them an e-mail as stated on their site, but no one ever responded. Now, just yesterday, we have a leak coming from the upstairs bathroom. The home insurance will cover the sheetrock and such, but they do not cover plumbing. So not only do I now have to find a plumber and pay out of pocket, my deductible for the insurance is $500. I'd love to get a class action suit against them, but they have no money, so how would they pay anyone. I had good service up to this point. Very disappointed!

I can't get in touch with the company.

I live in Florida and as of last night my air conditioner isn't working. I bought this policy from Sensible Home Warranty. I called them last night. The recording said they weren't taking calls at that time . I called them a few minutes ago and got the same answer. There is not a website for them that I can see.Does any one know what happened to them. Does anyone know what to do? I researched this company and went to the BBB website. They had gotten an excellent rating. Am I out the money I paid? Who do I contact?

The theives went out of business

They took my subscription fee and owed me a refund for repair work. Phones are closed. What do I do now? I needed have my AC fixed and they said I could hire my own contractor and they will reimburse the expenses. I sent the bill to them and got a reply that the check will be sent to me in 5 to six weeks. I waited the 5 to six weeks and tried to contact them but their phones were disconnected and their web site basically said " We are no longer in business "***"! Therefor I am not only out $780.00 but I'm out the remainder of my subscription fee. I'm sure there are hundreds more like me out there.

I am in a similar situation - I just discovered that they have went out of business. What are our recourse? I am out of the $800 Plus for the Home Warranty Coverage for two homes.

Guest

I'm out $1400 as promised by them for a furnace repair back in December 2013. I filed complains anywhere I could and nobody has been successful.

My contract is still active until the end of July. How companies can get away with this is beyond me.

Guest

We are out $1,200. I have called over 100x.

They said we would receive our check in mail.

Been waiting on check for 10months.

Guest

Opened a claim with them in January, a couple months passed and the claim was still open and our fridge is still not working properly. In April they offered us a buyout and said the check will come in 4-6 weeks.

We waited and waited and still waiting.

On another claim we filed for our kitchen sink, the contractor they sent out recently just contacted us and told us that Sensible is out of business and they could not collect the $400 bill from them so we have to pay out of our own pocket or they will put a lien on pur house! Is this even legal???

Guest

Same thing happened to me......I called about ten times and every time I would be told they are working on my claim, so I started requesting a manager every time I called, but they are just as bad if not worse. After three weeks someone finally came to fix my washing machine and I was suppose to be reimbursed.

After three weeks I called and they had everyone telling people they would take a message and have someone call me back.

After three more weeks I called the phones are no longer in service and just happen to look online and see they are no longer in business. Bring on the class action lawsuit!!!!!!

Guest

Same here - over $800 in claims from Feb/March. They were still in business the first 20X I called/emailed and never got a check.

What scam artists.

I hope there's a class-action lawsuit. I'm ready to start one.

Out of Business???????????

I signed up with Sensible in March. I closed on my house in May of 2014. The pool pump has gone out and when trying to contact it only says that the number isn't taking calls at this time. Unbelievable. So apparently since they have shuttered their business operation then all of us valued clients are just screwed. I went on their website today and it is still active. You can actually fill out their online form and still receive a quote. What can we as consumers do to help shut these guys down so it doesn't happen to the next victim? I'm out $980.00 for a two year warranty. I'm sure there are others in the same boat as me. We should all team up and file a suit against this obvious scam.

Sensible Home Warranty is a scam!

Sensible Home Warranty is a total scam outfit. I bought a 3-year policy in September, 2012 for $900, and used it twice. The first time I ended up getting my hot water heater replaced, which was good, but found out later that the plumbing company had enormous difficulty getting reimbursed. They ending up calling Sensible Home Warranty multiple times a day for weeks on end until they finally managed to get paid, and of course vowed never to do business with Sensible again. The second time an electrician fixed a wiring problem, but again wasn't getting reimbursed. The electrician sent letters to me and other Sensible customers he'd done work for, threatening to put a Mechanics Lien on our properties. He didn't want to do that, but felt he had no choice; if he had waited any longer the legal deadline would have passed. After enormous efforts, including me making numerous calls to Sensible to demand they pay him, they finally ponied up. At that point I cancelled my policy which had two years left on it, and asked for a pro-rata refund as specified in my contract. After several email exchanges, their salesman agreed that I was due the money. But of course they never sent it. I called and emailed repeatedly, and was told it was on its, or that it would take 10 business days, or that the service representative would contact the billing department, but nothing ever happened. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, the supervisor was always at lunch or on break and would call me back later but never did. I'd be given the billing department's phone number and always get it's voicemail and never a call back. I considered filing a small claims court lawsuit, but would have had to try to serve notice in New York (I'm in California) at considerable cost. And even after winning such a lawsuit I probably couldn't have attached any assets to get Sensible to pay the judgement. So it looks like Sensible Home Warranty will get away with screwing another customer (me). I can only hope that they will quickly go bankrupt before they rip off too many more people, and perhaps one day the company officers will go to jail for fraud. In the meantime, I'll add my voice to the many other warnings, so that potential buyers will know the mess they will be in for and potential contractors will know to avoid Sensible Home Warranty like the plague.

I had almost exactly the same experience, in Mississippi, except that my plumber was smart enough to insist I pay up front and be reimbursed by SHW. Needless to say, I was only partially paid and only after 5 months harassment on my part.

I had a 3 year contract which I cancelled after 1 year. Now apparently they are out of business and I'm out $600.

Sensible Home Warranty Provided Me No Service But Took My Money

I had coverage with Sensible Home Warranty and got nothing for it. Every time I had a problem and needed to use the service, Sensible Home Warranty was not able to get a Technician to my house. As the date of my service plan was running out in May 2014, I requested my money back as they were NOT able to live up to their obligation by covering any service my home required. I waited for a Sensible Home Warranty Representative to call me back to discus the terms of my refund and as I'm usually told that should happen in about 48 hours. I ended up waiting a week and of course no one called. When I tried to call them back, I found out the number is no longer in service and Sensible Home Warranty had GONE OUT OF BUSINESS. I feel screwed. Now I'm left trying to figure out what to do because I don't feel they should get away with taking my money and I'm guessing countless others. If anyone knows of a class action law suit against the, I would love to know. The nerve of these people. They actually called me back in April of 2014 to ask if I wanted to renew my policy.

Close to a year and no paymet

Same experience as many on here. Had a dishwasher go out last August. Promised a payment to replace it. Have called 20+ times since then getting the run around every time (spoke with someone in India stating that they can't help me but they would forward my concerns to the mysterious billing department that is email only). Canceled in order get refund for second half of my contract. Havn't seen a dime for dishwasher or contract. Now they are out of business and can't be reached. If anyone knows of a way to bring these criminals down and hopefully thrown in jail and get my $, please let me know.

Sensible Home Warranty is a fraud

I was searching for Home Warranty for my 3 houses in May 2014. I found Sensible Home Warranty. They kept pestered me for a few days and finally I gave in because of their prices. They charged me $300/year/house. I agreed to 3-year policies on all three houses and agreed to pay in 3 installments, one month apart. When the second installment was not charged in June, it probably indicated that something went wrong. Today is July 8, 2014, I got a call from a tenant in one of my houses. When I tried to call Sensible Home Warranty, the 866-959-**** is "not set up to receive calls". The sales (Al) who sold me the policy promised that I could get him on this direct line. Needless to say, that line is also "not set up to receive calls". So, I am out $900 for no service at all. Probably should have seen stayed away from this company to begin with. I saw the negative reviews about this company on Better Business Bureau, but I was "attracted" by the low price. I guess when things are too good to be true, it often is like this one!
