Verified ReviewerResolved: Light Bulb not working 10 by 30 climate controlled unit
Today the light bulb was replaced in the storage unit, just in the nick of time. We are grateful that the move can now go forward in a lite area for safety sake as well as ease of loading.
Thank you Walkersville, Self Storage Plus for making it happen especially Manager Petra Chandler and other's who assisted. We do appreciate it..
This was noted with the manager Petra Chandler at the time of the signing of the contract. She said it is a high ceiling and will be hard to do but she will work on it. We were not going to move our belongings into the unit until September 26, which we told Petra. We assumed there was plenty of time for a light bulb to be changed out.
We followed up for several weeks in a row waiting for this "light bulb" to be changed. We always received the same answer. Last week on Thursday, September 15, 2022 I requested to talk to a supervisor. At that point Petra contacted someone above her and requested the light bulb to be changed.
We came in that same day, gave our key to the unit lock to Petra, signed a waiver hoping this would solve the problem. . Today it is September 22 and the light is still not working.
We are moving into the unit on Monday, September 26th and it would be nice if the movers could see to stack the boxes rather than be in the dark... who can help us out???

They ripped me off of almost $500
I do not normally write bad reviews, i just let things go but i am beyond angry with this place. i moved out of our unit on 7/1, 10 days prior to our monthly bill.
They sent a bill on 7/11 and every two day after that a guy would call, emal and text me wanting Julys payment until today. I informed him that we had moved out almost two weeks before and he said i still owed for the month. I ignored his calls, texts and emails every other day AND SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. i finally paid it just to get him to leave me alone.
so with all the late fees they added it was almost another $100 on top of what i use to pay. i am furiousThey ripped me off oTh

Rat infestation in my storage unit.
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this report, because I recently had a terrible experience with the Self Storage Plus location off of Davis Dr. in Sterling, VA.
I had been a client of Self Storage Plus for over one year from March of 2020 until April of 2021. No one with this company informed me that my storage unit number 2096 had been previously infested with rats. I discovered this problem right before I moved my items into my home. Some of my items were spared by the rats, but some were not.
There will be photos attached to this report, to provide examples of my items that have been damaged by the rats in the storage unit.
When I informed the Branch Manager Bri of this problem, she took quick action, and she called her manager David right away to inform him of this. David told Bri that I needed to send him an email with information, as well as photos of my damaged items.
I moved my items out of this storage unit on April 24th and I sent David an email with details and photos on April 25th. I requested that Self Storage Plus dispose of my two sofas because they had been exposed to rats, rats carry diseases, the larger sofa has rat *** and stains from rat urine on it and I did not want to bring these furniture items into my home.
I also requested that Self Storage Plus purchase two new sofas for me, since they were ruined in the storage facility due to the rat infestation and I asked that this new furniture be delivered and moved into my home. It has been 14 days since I sent my initial email to David and he has not sent me an email response or called me about this issue.
I am not sure why a rat infestation had occurred, because I did not store any food in my unit. I was also a good client to Self Storage Plus and I always paid my monthly rent.
I am not happy with Self Storage Plus, and I am not sure why David has not contacted me, this being said the Branch Manager BRI has tried to help me, and she is great. She has contacted other leadership about this issue with no response from them about this, she has followed up with me via phone call as well as text message, and she seems to be the only person with Self Storage Plus that seems to care about my problem.
I want to thank Bri for trying to help me, as well as for the effort she has put into this situation. Something like this has never happened to me in the past, so this is the first time I have ever done anything like this. I am surprised, disappointed and frustrated that I have not received a response from anyone in upper management from Self Storage Plus about this problem.
I am sure this is not the standard of customer service this company provide, and I am also sure this is not how Self Storage Plus typically conducts business. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter and I hope to hear from someone in management with Self Storage Plus in the near future.
