Verified ReviewerClaims I signed up late!
- - Select Health claims I owe over $200 for a late enrollment fee.
- - Disabled veteran using VA meds since 2012.
- - Appeal twice denied.
Select Health claims I owe them over 200 dollars for late enrollment fee. I am a disabled veteran and have been getting my meds from the VA since 2012.
I have appealed twice and they will not approve my appeal.
This is a very fraudulent company! The salesman that provided the policy is transferred somewhere else in the company.
- Bill you for fraud charges and blame it on medicare
Preferred solution: Cancel the ridicules charges for late enrollment ..
User's recommendation: Stay away from this company!
Surprise Bill
- - Select help sent monthly emails insisting I get a check up.
- - They set me up with an out-of-network doctor without my knowledge.
Select help began sending me emails saying that I needed to get a check up. I was getting these emails every month and I finally call them to get a doctor because I had not seen a doctor in the state yet. Without my knowledge they set me up with the doctor outside my network and I was hit with a bill of nearly $1000 for a check up.
User's recommendation: Select health is the Devil

Verified ReviewerMissing medications for almost 1 month now
- - Not receiving Baclofen, Cymbalta, and Savella; pain worsens.
- - I will switch back to CVS if my meds aren't shipped and I expect a reply today.
I am not receiving 3 of my most important medications. Baclofen, Cymbalta, & Savella.
There is NO excuse for this. I have Chronic pain and these meds keep it in line so i do not have to go to pain management & use hydrocodone. CVS never had any issue giving me all these meds. I will be changing back to CVS if you can't seem to provide my meds correctly.
I am having increased pain because of it, nasty side effects from no cymbalta or savella, i can barely walk or get around now. I'm mad as *** about this.
What possible excuse could you have to not ship me my meds? I expect to hear from you yet today over this matter or i will be filing all kinds of complaints.

Verified ReviewerTerrible customer service!
- - Terrible service; they won't update my name or address.
- - Mail still goes to the old address.
- - A rep yelled at me on the phone.
Terrible customer service! They refuse to change my name (marriage) and address after months of me and my employer calling and emailing.
They continue sending my mail to another address and won't let me change it even after sending them my driver's license with the updated information. Lady yelled at me on the phone when I called once.
Also, very expensive for very little benefit to me.
I pay them and get literally nothing in return. Not even my bills to my own address!
Preferred solution: My name and address changed. Policies regarding this changed.
User's recommendation: Avoid!
Foot Therapy Denied
- - PT coverage has a $40 deductible higher than the cost.
- - No Boise foot doctors in SelectHealth network; orthotics aren’t covered.
I don't understand why companies like SelectHealth don't take a pro-active approach to health care. I have plantar fasciitis, and before it's gets so bad that I can't walk and have to have shots in my foot, I asked if they would cover some physical therapy (massage and ultrasound), which has helped my foot not get bad in the past.
The answer was $40 deductible, which is more than the procedure costs. Being on fixed income, I can't afford $25/week and choosing SelectHealth as my supplement provider was an error on my part. I've been their customer for two years and haven't made a claim, other than asking for reimbursement for my health club membership. I have just paid for orthotics for my foot at hundreds of dollars at Good Feet, which they won't cover either.
It has helped my foot some, but I am in constant pain, which they don't seem to care about. And inactivity could result in a whole lot of other health problems. Don't they get this? And my foot doctor is not under their provider list, in fact, I couldn't find any foot doctors in the Boise area that are under their umbrella.
I'm sure they want me to go to my GP and have a referral, but I've already had the condition diagnosed and treated before. They seemed quite heartless on the phone, like they really don't care.
- That they reimbursement me for my gym membership
- That they do not consider pm a legitimate health insurance cost
Select Health Review
- - They were canceled after paying a 508 premium two days late.

Select Health - Procedure Authorization Review
- - Friend seeks approval for a kidney procedure to save her son's kidney.
- - One kidney is 20% and the other 40%; denial cites no precedent for children.
A dear friend of mine has been fighting for three weeks to have procedure approved for her son that would save his functioning kidney. One kidney is at only 20% and the other was healthy at the beginning of this year but because Select Health was will not approve the surgery it is now at 40%.
They are denying because this has never been done on a child but has been done successfully on adults. He is 15 and passed all pre-testing for the procedure.
I guess they would rather pay for a transplant down the road. Despicable!
Claim denied family history of cancer
- - Referred to Huntsman Cancer Hospital after two abnormal in-network colonoscopies.
- - Claim denied as out-of-network; invoices resubmitted twice after coding issue.
I was referred to Huntsman Cancer Hospital after two abnormal colonoscopies with my "in network" doctors. Was told the insurance would cover the procedure due to "family history" and that I have had two abnormal test results prior.
Now Select Health is denying the claim for the procedure due to "out of network" I have been told that the invoice was not coded correctly and to have the hospital resubmit it on two other calls, which has been done. Now it is just DENIED. I feel like they will do anything to get out of paying for services!
Always quick to collect the premium though! I will be looking for other options when my company has open enrollment again.
Preferred solution: Pay the claim
