AI Highlights
  • - Replacing a defunct debit card with a new one was slow.
  • - Secursus only accepts credit cards; unclear how to discard old card and start the new one.

I had trouble changing a defunct debit card to a new one, and only after multiple attempts, discovered that Secursus was only accepting credit cards, and it was not clear how to discard the old card and initiate the new one. So, it took a while.

User's recommendation: Use with care.

SecurSUS is in the business of selling insurance, but they are *not* in the business of paying out claims. They aren't even legally licensed to sell insurance in the USA.

If you Google their company you will find many negative reviews and a thread on Reddit asking, "Has anyone *ever* gotten a payout from these guys?"

I sold an item on eBay for @1900. I "Insured" the shipment with these scammers, the carrier destroyed it, and I made a claim. They refused it on the basis that it was a "domestic shipment," but THEY KNEW THAT WHEN THEY SOLD ME THE POLICY!

Their other flimsy excuse was that it 'wasn't from a business' - but in fact I do own a business, the monitor was acquired to support that business, then sold off as a sale of capital equipment.

The interesting part is that these huge restrictions are only mentioned in the fine print. All their competitors make it clear up front that they don't cover these cases.

In many states, burying huge restrictions in the fine print is sufficient cause for a charge of 'insurance fraud'

Pictures below are of their order form, which has a checkbox for 'international shipment' which I of course which I left unchecked. Their acceptance letter, which contains a tracking number for a DOMESTIC SHIPMENT, as well as their snarky rejection email.

They knew darn good and well they would never pay a claim on this policy, yet they took my money anyway.

Loss:
$1900
Cons:
  • Insurance fraud

Preferred solution: Full refund

User's recommendation: Avoid with extreme prejudice.
