Holes in fuel tank

AI Highlights
  • - 2014 Sea Hunt owner, stored under roof and regularly serviced.
  • - Gas leaks traced to holes in the tank; no sealer or coating.

Good afternoon,

I purchased a 201* *** Ultra Sea Hunt in 2014. Since then, I have recommended your boats to several of my friends and coworkers who have also since then bought Sea Hunt boats from you. I've always loved my boat, respected the Sea Hunt name, and taken excellent care of my boat. It has never been stored outside because I have paid for it to be stored under roof since the day I bought it. I have it serviced on a regular basis and never loaned it out to anyone because of how much I value and respect this boat. Unfortunately, last July, when I took my family to the Florida Keys to go lobstering, we discovered a strong gas smell a few days into our trip and couldn't risk taking it back out with my wife, children, and grandchildren. I immediately realized that the majority of the gas I put into the boat ended up in the hull. I did not contact you at this point because I attempted to resolve the matter without causing many headaches on everyone's part. It took months of trying to flush the hull to remove all of the gas and gas odors!

I then took it to Castaway Marine, where I initially purchased the boat (brand new), and they claimed there was a crack between the gas filler and the tank of the vessel. I went ahead and paid to get it fixed (again, not trying to cause headaches) and after more than a year of one headache after another, I was finally able to take my boat out! This June, I took it to Sebastian, Florida, for vacation, and my wife and I smelled gas on our first day out on the water. We planned to take the kids and grandkids the next day, but we couldn't since the boat was profusely leaking gas once again. There went our second vacation without a boat. The only positive aspect of this is that my family is safe. We are really fortunate that the boat did not explode, as I was warned it could have.

I hired a mobile mechanic to inspect the boat with a scope, and he informed me that there are several holes in the boat's gas tank. There was no sealer or coating on the tank, which I think is unacceptable for such a respected boat. I would appreciate your assistance in this regard, as this is not due to a lack of care for my boat and is therefore not my fault. I've done nothing except take good care of my boat.

AI Highlights
  • - Sea Hunt call didn't connect and gave no information.
  • - A pop-up asked if the problem was solved.

I called the number for Sea Hunt, I was connected to pissed consumers The phone call never connected, I was unable to get any information. Then a pop up page asked me if my problem was solved.

This was a waste of time.

I wish I had the actual phone number and skip the pissed page. Its just what the name implies.
