Rip off!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had my screen repaired at the local Tesco car park. Technician seemed nice and asked me my insurance policy number and details.

He then checked this on a list of approved insurers and confirmed the work would be free. Informed that my insurance would cover it, I authorised him to do the work. The work itself was fine and I was relatively happy. Three months later I have a bill for £54 because the insurance company doesn't cover windscreen repairs!

Utter rip off.

What was the song and dance for about checking my insurance policy and referencing his list if I had to pay anyway? Avoid.

Hi its not the windscreen repair companies fault, one should know when purchasing a policy whether you opt out of windscreen repairs, by unticking a box, its a common mistake and people conveniently forget.

Fantastic service

I had my windscreen repaired today by one of the local repair guys in Portsmouth. I could not be happier with the repair work and the technician who did the work is a credit to Screen-Care UK.

Very polite and very helpful. I had contacted my insurance company but was told by their glass repair company that they could give me a repair appointment almost three weeks from the date I was phoning. That was no good as I thought it would crack by then.

Luckily I saw Screen-Care UK operating in my local Tesco a couple of days later so I got them to do the repair. I was impressed with the service and the quality of work.

Do not go near them with a barge pole!........

My mother had the chip `repaired` on her vehicle only for the so called engineer to crack it even more so it fail the MOT, requiring a complete new windscreen. On top of that ScreenCareUK now proceed to send her letters in the post saying she owed them more money because she has not given her insurance details. The whole thing is a complete scam and I warn others not fall into the trap. You have only go to look at their `professional` website to see they have stolen Istockphoto`s pictures!!!

I will be contacting trading standards about the scam, also be taking ScreenCareUK to small claims court to recover the cost of the original repair, the replacement windscreen and billing them for my time to sort it out. I will also send a letter to B&Q as it was their carpark from which ScreenCareUK were trading.......I`m sure they will be happy about this scam being run from their carpark.

I urge others that have had bad experiences to contact trading standards and your local citizen advice office.

Windscreen Chip Repair Review

I had two chips repaired in my windscreen. I saw that they were still very noticeable.

I took it strait to the MOT place and they said it wouldn't pass. I had to pay for a new windscreen. I called he company 3 time and sent them a copy of the bill but they never refunded me after telling me it was in the post.

Very discussed and £50 down. Still very upset as it was very stressful.

Small car windscreen chip made into a large crack by Screen Care UK

My car's windscreen was chipped, and so I took it to screen care UK as they offered a quick-fix service at my local shopping centre parking lot (West Swindon Shopping Centre on the 23/08/13). The service was advertised as 'free of charge', as it could be claimed from the insurance company.

The conversation with the technician was brief, and it consisted of whether or not my insurance company would cover this service. He informed me that the repair would take around 15 - 20 minutes, and that I should go do some shopping and upon my return it would be completed.

Upon my return I found that the "technician" had made the small 2cm chip into a large 20cm crack by drilling it.

He did not warn me before of this risk. He did not offer any compensation after messing up on the job.

Exactly the same experience. 'Repaired' a chip and withing 24 hours a huge crack across my entire screen.

Run as a franchise so Head Office pretty distant from their franchisees and their poor workmanship.

Bunch of rogues. Steer clear.
