We recently bought two very large planters we went and bought 12 bags of the Scotts miracle Gro moisture control potting soil, filled both planters up to the top and put probably 12 to 15 plants in each pot. Every single one of the plants died called customer service phone number, and the woman says I need a code I said, maam I dont save bags from two weeks ago especially dirty bags and she said sir I cant do anything for you now thats wonderful customer service isnt it

Bought a pallet of garden soil because home depot had it on sale. Exspecting it to be better than their brand or walmarts brand..had a sandy but weed free garden the prior 2 years,.
Blended the gardensoil and planted our seeds.2 different types of weeds came up and cmpleted over grew the garden. My wife and i could not keep up with the weed pulling. Salvaged what we could for vegtables and roundup the entire garden twice over a 3 month period. Where ever this garden soil was alied was the only areas of our yard that had these weeds.
Our neighbors say thzt they had the same rexults. And the bags say garden soil. The bags were mor of a compost.
They were full of sticks 5 inches long by 3/4 in diameter and also several small rocks up to over 1/2 inch..still have several bzge left over. Cant even give it away

Verified ReviewerVery disappointed with product
Bought a pallet of garden soil (80) bags. Used most of it to mix with existing soil.
Our native soil was mostly sand but weed free.had to irrigate alot. Planted our garden seeds and 2 types of weeds came up that was so thick we could not control them . The only place in our yard we had these 2 weeds was where we mixed the garden soil. Salvaged what we could with our vegtables then elected to spray roundup not once but twice over a 2 month period to try to eliminate the weeds.
Our neighbors als had the same isdue with the same product.now im stuck with 15 bags that i cant even give away.
And another thing its not what i call a garden soil. The bags are full od sticks up to 4 inches long and 3/4 inches thick and several rocks up to 1/2 inches in diameter these is what is called a compost Not soil

Update from earlier review.
After no response from Scott's after multiple phone calls, (no answer) multiple messages, (leave your number and we will call you back) and multiple e-mails, (no reply) I gave up. I went to the Home Depot where I purchased the bags of white slime mold, oh, I mean Miracle Gro vegetable and herb garden soil to complain.
The girl at the customer service desk refunded my money cheerfully and I immediately purchased a competing product. I'm done with Scott's products.
User's recommendation: Stay away from Scott's Miracle Gro products. No customer service.

Verified ReviewerScotts Ortho Weed B Gon Killed My Lawn
Beware buyers, "Weed B Gon" by Ortho, a division of Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, killed my lawn and even though I have contacted them, they have offered no remedy to correct the situation or restore my lawn. I purchased this product at Home Depot in late July 2020 two weeks before a wedding event at my home.
The lawn was very healthy but had some crab grass and dandelions which I was wanting to kill before a wedding event in August. I shopped at Home Depot specifically for a product that could be applied on the weeds in the lawn that would not kill the lawn. I was recommended at Home Depot to buy the Scotts, Ortho product called "Weed B Gon". Home Depot associate pointed out on the front label, a prominently displayed guarantee, "Won't harm the lawn.
Guaranteed". The associated demonstrated that it had a built in sprayer so it did not need to be diluted. Just walk around and spot spray any weed in the lawn. I then purchased the product and spot sprayed the crabgrass and dandelions on the lawn in front and back of our house.
The product was applied two weeks before the event only to have it kill the lawn just days after spot spraying. This was a shocking result which was an embarrassing situation for our event since the lawn had dead spots all over it. I would never have used it had the packaging not said, "Won't harm the lawn. Guaranteed".
Unfortunately I did use the product and had a very bad result that greatly took away from our event. After our event, I contacted Ortho by phone and spoke with a Fred who promised me that the lawn was not dead, that if I watered it for 3 weeks, it would revive. It has now been nearly a month since I spot treated my lawn with the "Weed B Gon" product and there has been no improvement. I was watering my lawn regularly before I treated it and even more so after the lawn started to die but there has been zero recovery.
Ortho has offered to refund the cost of the product (basically a few dollars) which I could care less about. I care about the thousands of dollars it is going to take to replace the lawn. See attached three pictures of a portion of my damaged lawn.
I WISH I COULD GIVE A NEGATIVE SCORE BUT A "1" IS THE BEST YELP OFFERS. SPREAD THE WORD, ORTHO AND SCOTTS PRODUCTS ARE DANGEROUS FOR YOUR LAWN.
THEY HAVE OFFERED NO HELP FOR RESTORING MY LAWN. AN IRRESPONSIBLE COMPANY.

User's recommendation: Scotts Ortho "Weed B Gon" will kill your lawn...Do not buy!
Compost was full of weed seeds
I purchased 27 bags of Miracle Grow Natures Care Really Good Compost at Home Depot for my gardens and applied the compost myself. It was an arduous task and initially looked great.
Now after every rain there are tons of weeds all over the garden. The compost was full of weed seeds!
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
User's recommendation: Do not buy this product.
Horrible
I purchased a bag of Miracle Grow and growing Hungarian peppers and I noticed when my Hungarian peppers were growing flies that killed my Hungarian peppers plant I noticed in another pot with nothing in it flies flying around in there. This happen with my dad too flies growing or flying around and killing the plant I have a feeling that Miracle-Gro has eggs from the flies in the soil. I am never going to use Miracle-Gro again
Scotts 4-Step Lawn program - Rebate SCAM
Just purchased 2 sets of 15K Scotts 4-Step program.
Tried to fill out the Rebate information on-line. System kept dropping out my price information and sending me back to the beginning (4 times) to enter all information again (lots of numbers from each bag.) I spoke with the Scotts Rebate Hot-line four times and was told to enter total 4-step package price for each line item as individual step prices were not shown on my receipt. Finally gave up in disgust!
It seems that Scotts has deliberately made it virtually impossible to make a genuine REBATE claim. Is this a SCAM.

Short Review on May&nbs-04:00;25,&nbs-04:00;2016
Had similar experience. Future Scotts purchases are off the table.
Fraudulent Rebates
This years Scotts Step4 program offers rebate via debit card (Not a Rebate Check as in past years) with only 6month expiration. NO expiration date on card or warning.
Was holding until Christmas ( 7 Months).
Contacted them, they replied with form response…. reiterating that card must be used before expiration date. They offered no solution.
They took my $50.00.
Don't be deceived by the rebate ……… Buy less expensive competitor products and not fall victim to there bait and switch tactics.
Worthless Manufacturer's Coupons
The Scotts Miracle Gro Co. printed two coupons for customers to receive (depending on product size) $2.00 & $4.00 off the price of three of their lawn fertilizer products. The problem?
Scott's products are mostly sold by three national home center stores (Lowes, The Home Depot, and ???[I forgot the third].
Well . . . all three REFUSE to accept them.
I contacted Scotts and Lowes over this matter. Scotts response: "We cannot compel any store to accept our coupons." Lowe's: The usual BS -"Our prices are already low."
I'd love to see a class-action lawsuit over this!
