Scott does a great job.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My daughter was scouted by Scott when she was 14. We researched his business and decided to sign up.

It seemed expensive at the time, but it wasn't any more than we invested in traveling soccer or all the other activities our children were into. When she started working she made it back in 2 jobs. She worked with Scott fo over 10 years and had a very diverse, fun career while still going to school. She is now a Dr.

And doing very well. I believe the modeling experience helped in all aspects of her life.

This person is listed as a "Team Member" on the Scott Copeland International website. I'd say that makes them less than objective as a reviewer.

Scott charges a fee for training and for pictures and putting everything together in a package he knows will work for this business. Also his contacts in the business are amazing. My daughter made that fee back in 2-3 jobs once she started working.

My daughter was scouted by Scott yesterday so I am doing my research. Did they ask you to pay Scott's agency directly? Thanks!

Honest Experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

If it werent for Scott Copeland not only would I never have become a model, but I wouldnt be the man I am today. Scotts expertise and management sent me to places I never could have dreamed of.

I cant even keep track of all the amazing companies Ive shot for and its all thanks to him, plain and simple.

Not to mention, I consider him an amazing friend. Im sorry you didnt have a good experience in the modeling industry, but maybe youre placing the blame where it doesnt belong.

They’ll just take your money

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In order to sign you have to pay a huge amount of money, something like $3,000. After that you may or may not get work, but it’s not guaranteed.

A really good modeling agency would sign you for free. Please look out for yourselves

It's my understanding, they find you.. I have been located by Scott himself twice.

I would have loved the opportunity to use his services even went to his office in LA Jolla and things seemed to go well. I didn't want to bring any influence on my family that was unnecessary

Since you have posted anonymously we are unable to address your specific situation, but we would like to address your claims. There is no fee to sign a management contract with us.

For models who come to us with previous experience and a current portfolio we are happy to sign and promote them right away (providing that it feels like a good fit as well). If models come to us with no experience in entertainment and no professional pictures (from a working photographer, not ‘a friend’ who just does weddings and senior portraits), we require they receive some sort of training and acquire a professional portfolio before we feel comfortable submitting them to our agency contacts. The agencies we work with are high-tier and expect any models we send them to be ready to work immediately. Potential models are welcome to receive training and pictures wherever they choose.

Scott offers his own training separate from management. We have had models train with Scott and choose not to sign a management contract and we have signed models who have already done training and are ready to go. As a conservative management company we can vouch for the professionalism and safety of Scott’s training and the photographers we refer models to. Models who seek out ‘free’ training are sadly often asked for unprofessional, distasteful, and outright lewd favors in return.

There is never a guarantee that a model will work. Ever. Anyone who promises a model that they will “definitely” work, is misguided or flat-out lying. Managers and Agents do not get a say on who books jobs, only the clients hiring the models decide that.

Managers and agents can express the likelihood that a model will work, but at the end of the day they do not get a say in who gets hired. There is no ‘one-size fits all’ when it comes to representation and we strongly urge potential talent to do their research on a variety of management agencies before submitting themselves for representation.

(If you have been scouted, we still encourage you to do your research before following up!) Finally, if the poster of this has had an issue in dealing directly with us, we urge you to get in touch so we may resolve our differences. Our contact information is publicly available on our website.

Since you have posted anonymously and given no details regarding your situation it is difficult to address the concerns that have led you to lash out. For original poster, we’re not sure what you mean by ‘scam’ – we have an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and have been successfully representing working models and actors for decades.

We have placed Talent for work in California, New York, Chicago, London, Paris, Milan, and China. For the commenter, there are tens of thousands of models around the world who maintain industry standard sizes. For anyone reading, the standard sizes for women at the highest level of modeling (think NYFW) are anywhere from 23”-25” waist and no more than 35” hips. (Plus/curve models have different requirements, and models-turned-celebrities, like Kate Moss and even Ashley Graham, are given more wiggle room in what sizes they are.) In the Southern California area, you will find working models with a maximum waist of 26” and maximum hips of 37”, however, there are few opportunities.

Obviously not everyone on the planet has to be model-sized, but if you want to actually work as a print/runway model, you will be expected to maintain industry standard sizes so that you can fit into sample clothes, which only come in one size.

Finally, if either the original poster or commenter here has had an issue in dealing directly with us, we urge you to get in touch so we may resolve our differences. Our contact information is publicly available on our website.

If you get the SCI "pitch" and card, walk away unless you have nothing better to do than waste time and money, and try to chase the perfect body measurements which as it turns out are unattainable.

Scott Copeland Talent - SCI Talent made me who I am today

I owe my entire modeling career to Scott Copeland International. I was just a young beach boy when Scott scouted me.

Within a couple of weeks he set me up with a photographer for a paid test shoot that was amazing and worth it . Scott sent the photos to Abercrombie and Fitch and they booked me . Since then I have modeled for brands such as Armani, Ferragamo Paul Smith , Levi’s and many others as well as started in Commercials for Lexus , Nintendo, Princess Cruises just to name a few. I am currently with Wilhelmina models in LA, Front Models in Miami and Heroes Models in New York City .

Thank you Scott and the SCI team for everything. Love you guys ️ Ariel Howard

Scott Copeland-my career and experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been signed with Scott for about a year and half now and i've had an amazing experience. Without Scott as my manager I wouldn't be where Im at today.

Since being signed with Scott i've signed with LA models and i am building my career and working to take it to the next level. Scott does as he says and wants you to grow and make something of yourself as much as you do. But it takes hard work and dedication on your end to live and healthy and happy lifestyle by eating healthy and working out.

Every time I have talked or met with Scott in person I have never felt uncomfortable in any way but more of a family. Scott and his team have been amazing to me and i couldn't be more grateful.

Highly Recommend SCI & Scott!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Signing on with Scott Copeland to be my acting and modeling manager 9 years ago was one of the best decisions of my life. Within a week of signing my first contract Scott had representatives from Abercrombie and Fitch flying into his office to meet with me.

He put together a portfolio and comp card that he used to quickly get modeling agents for me in San Diego, Orange County, and LA. It all happened so fast. But the thing I learned most from Scott is that there is no such thing as overnight success. Yes, I landed a $40,000 General Electric commercial less than 2 weeks after moving to LA for my acting career.

Yes, I have shot with some of the worlds top fashion photographers and been featured in magazines like Allure and Interview and in ads for companies like Volcom and Patagonia. But it wasn't easy. Scott emphasized from the beginning that it takes hard work and dedication to make it in this industry and he was absolutely right. I auditioned for YEARS before landing my first feature film for the SyFy channel.

And every step of the way Scott was right there, helping me improve and stay focused. Pointing out that I was right where I should be at my stage in my career. Recommending books to read, interviews to watch, actors to follow and study. The only thing more impressive than Scott's connections (and he is connected to many of the top modeling and acting agencies in the word) is his unwavering advice, encouragement, and ability to help you keep everything in perspective.

If you are looking for a get-rich-quick opportunity then do yourself a favor and don't get into modeling or acting.

If you aren't willing to put in the work to get in amazing shape and spend hours and hours studying your craft then don't waste your time or Scott's time. But if you are really serious about getting into this and want someone who will be with you every step of the way, there is nobody I would recommend more highly and with more enthusiasm than Scott Copeland.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

It's easy for me to see why there are bad reviews on here, I would be pissed too if I lacked the drive and motivation it takes to be a successful model. Scott offers the resources, the knowledge, and the connections to be able to be as successful as YOU want to be.

But just like getting recruited for a sport, a coach isn't going to send someone up to the next level without them first proving themselves dedicated. If he were to send every joe blow who has potential to be a model to his resources, they wouldn't trust him anymore if the kid never actually accessed that potential. He'd lose all credibility. It is a fragile business.

I personally have done great with scott. Relocated to Hawaii, been paid thousands for day shoots, stayed in five star hotels, but this took a lot of time, dedication, excersize, healthy living, skin care, research. I don't advise you to sign if you think scott is going to spoon feed you success. It hurts me to see these sorry *** sore losers trying to tarnish a good man and agent's reputation because they can't admit to themselves that they didn't have what it takes.

Scott has been in the business long enough to have an amazing eye for potential and he'll let you know what to do in order to access all of it. If you've been scouted you're only half way there. Dedicate yourself, listen to the guru (Scott) and the rest will be history. But don't do it unless you know you can.

Or you'll end up like these bad review losers. Spreading negativity and hate to the world.

Responding to your exact situation is hard because you have hidden your identity but I will try.

My healthy lifestyle advice (8hrs of sleep per night; plenty of exercise and fruits and vegetables) sometimes rubs people the wrong way, although it is always well explained before contracts are signed what is expected of talent from the industry and from us.

I have been in business for 30 yrs and have more positive reviews than any other company of the same caliber. I am fortunate to have many clients that take the time to identify themselves in reviews whose lives have been changed for the better from my advice.

I’m sorry that you were uncomfortable with my healthy advice but ultimately if you take it, I’m sure you would be more comfortable in the long run.

Guest

Hi there - because you have not provided us with your name we cannot speak to your exact situation. However, based on the information you have provided, we certainly wish you would have spoken up about how uncomfortable you were to Scott or whomever else was at SCI so we could solve what was bothering you.

Talent is always welcome to bring a family member or friend to appointments and talent under 18 is required to have a parent or guardian present.

We do hope you will get in touch with us soon so we can reach an amicable solution. We've been in the modeling business for 25+ years and have maintained an A+ rating with the BBB throughout.

We hope that any prospective talent take the time to read all the posts here, on Yelp, and contact the BBB of SD in addition to meeting Scott in person before coming to a decision about working with us. If we do not hear from you, we do wish you the best of luck should you pursue modeling.

Scott Copeland Talent Talent Agency Service Review from Bend, Oregon

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Paid the $1500 for my daughter as a retainer. We got NOTHING! He is a TOTAL scam...

She only saw him a few times, all he could tell her is get down to a size 26. She's a tall larger bone young girl and he knew this was not possible, Scott took complete advantage of her for his finacial gain.

I have not seen any refund after two years. As a concerned parent, please be advised I would not recommend Scott Copeland unless you can sign without any money down.

Warning, this is a SCAM!

You're right on about the company goals for the individual, but where you lacked was the communication and follow thru. We made numerous phone calls with no response-

I do believe he knew she would never represent the SCI company!

I do feel that we were taken advantage and it was a complete waste of time and money. I should have gone with my gut on this one...

Please send our deposit check back and I will change my message

If you'd like a refund, you should email or call Scott - we at SCI still have no record of you calling or emailing us. The contact information is on our website and your daughter has spoken with Scott since you wrote this. She hasn't been hounding Scott or SCI about the cost of her training, but if you really have a problem with it, we encourage you to speak directly with Scott so you can sort this out and resolve your misgivings.

SCI

Just wanted to emphasize that we ALWAYS stress healthy habits for weight loss - usually a combination of exercise and a wholesome diet. There are some people that take longer than others to make the necessary lifestyle changes, but we are always willing to see it through if they are :)

Guest

Since you have posted anonymously we are unable to reach out to you to try to resolve your disappointment with working with Scott.

Unfortunately, a 25” waist (not 26”) is the standard size for female models worldwide. If your daughter was unable to get down to this size that is not Scott’s fault; all models are expected to reach these sizes and this is clearly written on your contract.

If you “knew this was not possible” then you shouldn’t have signed the contract. Scott is very upfront about the size requirements in initial interviews/meetings because he doesn’t want to waste your time or his if you are not serious about reaching these sizes.

Scott offers advice to help models get to the right sizes and then he advises them on their look and trains them on camera presence, runway walking, and interview skills, plus a few other things.

So, if your daughter never got past the first step (getting to the proper sizes) we can definitely see why you would feel that you didn’t get your money’s worth and would be happy to refund some of your training cost or try again if she still has a passion for modeling. Feel free to reach out.

Satisfied Client

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My son Jordan has had the pleasure of working with Scott Copeland for over 2 years and has become very successful in both the modeling and acting arenas. Jordan was 16 1/2 when Scott and his associate Martha discovered him at The Del Mar Fair.

Since Jordan was a minor, Scott asked him to have me call his office if interested. I did, we met Scott and the rest is history! Scott's office is located in La Jolla, contrary to the previous mothers statement on this site, Scott does not live in Riverside, nor does he just"visit an office in San Diego!" Scott has had a very reputable agency in La Jolla for many years. He resides very close to his La Jolla office, which makes him readily available for his clients.

Jordan's success in both modeling and acting is a reflection of Scott's knowledge and contacts in the modeling and acting community all over the world. Jordan has modeled in New York , Florida and California. He has modeled for New York Fashion Week, has done runway, print jobs, music videos , tv appearances and commercials. Thanks to Scott Copeland, Jordan has signed with SCI, LA Models, One.1NYC, Wilhemina Miami, Vision LA, San Diego Model Management and Brand Talent.

Jordan also works for one of the top 3 acting agencies in Hollywood! This company represents the likes of Ashton Kutcher, Sophia Vegara, Jeremy Renner, Arianna Grande and Daniel Day Louis. Jordan has also been featured in a movie ! Recently, Jordan auditioned for and was accepted into a prestigious acting school in LA.

All these opportunities are thanks to his manager and mentor , Scott Copeland! Scott has been honest, has used a conservative approach which is very important for minors, attentive, readily available , above board in everything, and nothing but kind, helpful and a friend to Jordan and to me which as an over protective Mom I greatly appreciate. Scott has guided Jordan every step of the way in his endeavors. Jordan always says," I would be no where without Scott!" I honestly cannot say one negative thing about Scott Copeland , his staff , and all the wonderful people Jordan has encountered while working with Scott.

I am proud to say my son Jordan was discovered by Scott scope land and now at age 19, continues to work with him and will do so for many years to come! I highly recommend without hesitation , Scott Copeland Talent if you want to become a model or actor. Scott will go the extra mile to ensure your success!

I am grateful for everything he has done for my son Jordan! Sincerely, Anne Verhoeve, Jamul , CA

Resolved: Loss of $1,500 retainer fee

My child is a minor and was approached in a mall by one of Copeland's young scouts. Not knowing anything about the business my husband handed over the $1,500 and paid $800 for over the computer lessons.

When we stopped the lessons we were told it was a shame because he needed another 7 months of lessons before he was ready for the market. We asked for the money back and someone else replied online saying that it was for photos. That was not true so he just lies and bluffs you off. We never got our $1,500 so will have to pursue it with a lawyer.

NEVER PAY ANY MONEY UPFRONT and contact a contract lawyer before you sign or pay anything. Plus he lives in Riverside and just visits an office in San Diego when he gets a catch.

If anyone wants the REAL truth behind this complaint they can contact the San Diego Better Business Bureau (858-496-2131) for the complete interactions between Mrs. Vivenne Shapiro and Scott Copeland Talent (reference#: 10731312).

I strongly encourage all who are reading the review above and this comment, to look into it to determine its veracity. Also, Scott does not live 2 hours away ("in Riverside") from his office.

Scott Copeland Talent

I currently referred a model to Scott Copeland who is becoming very successful. If you do what Scott says and don't gain weight, Scott will introduce you to his top clients.

A lot of his talent has become very successful. And it's not about money with Scott. Rather than have models go to potentially dangerous photographers, Scott gives them loans to shoot with reputable proven professional photographers. The reason I referred Jordan was because I knew of another model that couldn't afford anything and Scott helped her with everything.

She didn't have to pay him back for years until she booked many jobs. If you want to have a good experience, this is a good company to work with.

Scott Copeland Talent Scam

Scott Copeland told me he would be able to book me work for his talent agency. Instead, he charged me a $1500 retainer fee that he would never actually refund to me.

I had to pay an additional $1000 for two photo-shoots and a few hundred for comp cards. After spending all of this money he did not introduce me to a single client. After doing some research I have found a large number of similar experiences from fellow hopeful models and have noted 20+ fake Yelp reviews made for his company. Avoid this place no matter what!!!

It should be shut down for the thousands of dollars they have stolen from hopeful models.

His argument is that it is the model's fault! Interesting argument considering I've signed with two top agencies in NYC ever since my contract ended!

Fred and Bill, your reviews are fake. The information is untrue and we have never heard of you, according to the names you provided. This site should do background checks like the BBB to prevent potential trouble makers like you.

Guest

He chrged me $1500 and kept promising to get me in front of agents. Never happened.

Hes fake. I can prove it

Guest

Took my son and I for $3000. Told us after numerous shoots he was to have my son "seen" in a week.

Never happened. Kept sending us to LA for photo shoots.

Never got "seen". My son actually gave up before i did

Guest

I was offered good yelp reviewers as references before I signed. I've done great!!! That bad review is totally incorrect.

Guest

That review is obviously fake because it is illegal to have two agents in one county. Never done!

Scott is a manager not an agent. There is no retainer or fees.

If you are going to post lies, you will be more effective if you get your facts straight! He gave me phone numbers of good reviewers before I signed.

Guest

You are a fake...you cannot have two agents in one county. It's against the law and never done.

Scott copeland is a manager not an agent. If your going to lie, get your facts straight!

Guest

An upfront fee for talent representation from what I've read is illegal in California.

Guest

Commentator JC is correct. A legit agency does not charge. The positive comments here are probably plants.

Guest

sc discovered me while i was competing as an athlete during a televised event and led me to a top career appearing on covers and as the guy featured in international campaigns. not everyone can make it but he's honest

Guest

First rule of modeling: Never pay a fee for a model management company to represent you. Never.

It doesn't matter what they call it or how it is used, a fee is a fee is a fee. Period.
