- - Ten-year member of Schools First Credit Union faced 30% finance charges.
- - Credit score run without consent; refinance denied.
Yes I contacted the bank They replies; it was a mistake on their behalf. Running my credit making hard inquiry without my authorization!!!
Bring my credit score down by 39 or 40 points !!!! I have to believe this action was by mistake ?!!!
Now the bank has stopped me from refinancing my loan so that APR could go down from my loan ….I’m just so afraid they have all my information!!! All they could do was offer me a Skip payment on my existing loan
Hello, I have been a member of Schools First Credit Union for about 10 years now, with a history of car loans, one personal loan, a credit and a savings account. Everything was great until December 27, 2023. Unfortunately, I had to face the painful event of losing my mother. We all know that during such moments, certain businesses like cement and mortuaries take advantage. I was in desperate need of money to organize my mother's affairs, which pushed me into asking for a loan. I received immediate approval, but with everything going on, I did not pay close attention to the details of the loan. Realization struck when I noticed that the finance charges were taking up practically the entire monthly installment. They were at 30%, which meant that my payments were all going toward finances and nothing for the principal. It felt ridiculous, as though I was paying just $90 for the principal.
Deciding to take matters into my own hands, I went back to the bank to talk to my loan officer. However, she exuded an incredibly nasty attitude when I tried to explain my situation and appeal to her better nature. Cutting the story short, I was humiliated by a 21-year-old, who simply denied my refinance request, giving me an extremely poor treatment. What intensified the situation was her decision to run my credit score without my consent. I reached out to the bank and contacted the corporate office, only to be told that the score check was an error on their part.
This incident caused a major setback. I did not want them to run my credit card, as I was hoping to achieve a score of over 750, allowing me to refinance my loan at a better APR. This young lady interrupted my plans and, without any remorse, just claimed that it was a 'mistake'. What I can't comprehend is how someone can put my full name, address, phone number and Social Security number by mistake. Nobody does that.
I am extremely upset that such a young girl, with an unapologetic demeanor, can interrupt a 10-year history with a bank that I worked hard to maintain. The only response I received was a perfunctory 'We're sorry' which is just unacceptable. Consequently, I am now stuck with a high APR, a lowered credit score, and the issue was merely glossed over with a simple apology. And to add insult to injury, the young lady still has her job.
- Credit union bank with great offers teachers
- Poor ethics with personal information
Preferred solution: Some sort of solution after them running my credit lowering my score 40 points on a hard inquiry that took me about a year to rise my credit and lots of payouts to credit cards to rise my credit 730 -750 id still had a lot of work to take it to 750
User's recommendation: Bank elsewhere
