Verified ReviewerI tried to be as honest as possible and it bit me in the *** Don't do it.
- - I previously adopted from them and wanted a young cat.
- - The reply said I'd be a poor pet parent because I'm senior, disabled, and on disability.
If you want to deal with these people - good luck. I tried going above and beyond being as honest as possible.
Honesty doesn't seem to be a virtue any longer these days. They may use it against you the way they used my honesty against me.
Wanted to adopt a cat from this rescue group. I had adopted from them in the past.
Since my last adoption in 2005, I, 1) had gotten older (of course), 2) became disabled, and 3) could not work any longer and began receiving disability. When I filled out the online adoption application, I was interested in a young cat, and I received the following response: please note that their answer was very politically correct, but it was very clear to anyone who read it what they were really saying. My first mistake in dealing with these people was that I tried to be as honest as possible. They used that against me and my feeling upon reading their response was that I was not good enough to adopt from them.
I thought that is what they were all about - finding good homes for animals needing good homes. Getting back to their response and making a long story short: I was told that since I was a senior citizen, disabled and could no longer work and relied on disability that they did not 'feel' I would be a good pet parent because 1) I am too old, 2) I am disabled, and in their words, I would not be able to reach a cat who was hiding under a bed and, 3) not working and relying on disability, I would not be able to care for a cat. REALLY!! I have never been more insulted in my life.
Just because I am a little old and disabled does not mean I have a foot in the grave. I live a nice life. And being on disability does not mean I am destitute. I worked from age 18 until becoming disabled at age 54, and I live quite comfortably, thank you.
How rude to think just because we are getting up in age, we are becoming useless. I would like to think that you were never treated the way you made me feel, but maybe that would be the kick in the pants you young kids need
- Cat rescue & adoption
- Are rude to people trying to adopt
Preferred solution: Just want everyone to know how they treat people as and just because we are getting up in age, does not mean we are useless.
