Verified Reviewer |Extremely poor customer service
I have been trying to set up an appointment to have my security box opened due to a lost key for over a month. The lack of response and complete disregard of customer service is appalling.
I will be switching my mortgage over to citizens bank!! I will never open an account with this bank again nor will my family!

Santander Bill Pay paid the wrong account
I used Bill Pay on line to pay my American Express bill. Although my Bill Pay account shows that payments were made to the right account for 2 months, they were sent to my Santander Visa account instead. I did not know this until a statement arrived from the Visa account showing 2 payments for the exact amounts that were supposed to go to American Express. I called and was issued a refund and I made another payment to my American Express account using a different payment method.
In the meantime, American Express reported my account as delinquent two months in a row. This caused a 40 point drop in my credit score. Santander refuses to send a letter to the credit bureau because they say the mistake was my fault. Their two main reasons: that I listed the payee as Fia Credit services instead of American Express and used the wrong address. When I deleted that account and re-entered it, Bill Pay said that it would supply the address because they had a relationship with Fia Credit services. On my bill, it states to make and mail payments to Fia Credit services so that is what I have always done. Santander used to use Fia Credit services to handle their own Visa account so they should know how it works.
I obtained a copy of my credit report. It showed my American Express account as "Unsatisfactory". I wrote a letter of explanation about that and some errors in the report. Yesterday, I received an updated report and the account is still listed as Unsatisfactory. To me, Santander Bill Pay is unsatisfactory and I am looking for a new bank and considering calling my lawyer.
Preferred solution: Santander should take responsibility for their mistake and write a letter to the credit bureau involved
