Salt Life Corp takes ownership of lifestyle

"Living the salt life" has been an expression in American culture in coastal communities of the United States since at least WW2, I am nearly 60 I have have heard it all of my life in normal conversation: "hey, what you been up to lately"..."oh, just been living the salt life, you know!" This expression is used all the time by surfers, fishermen, boaters, beach combers, etc. But a couple of guys, who learned about living the salt life from those who lived it before them, decided to start a business on the idea, so that became www.saltlife.com , an apparel company. Done pretty well, but now they are aggressively going after anyone who uses the words "salt" and "life" together in a manner known as Trademark Bullying. These guys are stealing an entire lifestyle right out from under us! They are going after small businesses who are not in their line of business. FYI, trademarks cover only goods and services listed in the registration, and Salt Life Holdings LLC are going after people in totally different lines of business than they are in. The go after real estate agents, photographers (there is a bunch of those around the coasts of the USA), construction companies - anyone who uses the words salt life in any fashion. Who do these guy think they are???? What gives them the right to claim ownership over a long standing form of American culture for their exclusive use??? What's next, someone getting a trademark on American Pie and making everyone quit using it? How about this: stop buying their products. Stop buying stuff from Salt Life.
