- - 3018-PROVer: spindle runs but ZXY axes do not move.
- - Wiring checked; connections connected.
- - Program shows connected and timers run; no axis movement.
They supplied me with a replacement part for only shipping cost.
I made a few items and was happy with the results. So it was time to return to MN, so I sent the unit via UPS. The box came undamaged. That was in May; I bought the V-carve program as I had been planning to buy a bigger unit for AZ.
I had that much fun with the unit. I have been back in MN for 2 months trying to get the unit to work. I have tried different g-code and still no luck. The spindle runs, but the ZXY axes do not run.
I have checked the wiring to make sure everything is plugged in correctly. I am wondering at this time, could it be the controller board? The program says it is connected and the timers run, but no movement of the axis.
However, the spindle speed runs. Please help.

Verified ReviewerProblem with Y axis - out of sync
- - Y axis not in sync side to side.
- - Squeal when moving Y axis.
- - One side drifts a few mm after carving.
Good morning, I have a Genmitsu 4040 with a newly upgraded XZ axis and 65mm spindle motor. I've noticed that the Y axis is not running in sync side to side.
Also, while running up and down the Y axis there is a noticeable squeal indicating that something is amiss. After each carve one side is out by a few mm - more on longer carves.
A visual inspection doesn't reveal any obvious obstructions, and I've also checked that the threaded screw rods are firmly connected to the stepper motors. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Purchased a Genmatsu Z5-1 Laser engraver from Ebay.
- - Listing misleads buyers into non-working items.
- - Fiber laser works; focus lasers misalign.
- - Costs $670 plus tax and shipping.
Read every thing written in E bay's description. Apparently, it is an easy way to trick people into buying stuff that doesn't work and blaming you for their deceit.
The company that made the thing has NO customer support. It can't be repaired. It doesn't completely work. The fiber laser works, but the focus lasers don't aim correctly.
I paid $670.00 + tax and shipping for this thing. That's a lot of money.
i suspect he received it this way from Sain Smart. He should have sent it back instead of sticking me with it.
User's recommendation: Don't buy anything from Sain Smart or Genmitsu. they have no quality control or customer support or repair service or parts.

Verified ReviewerWorst nightmare ever so bad I actually made videos about the 4040pro
- - Damaged products and defects.
- - Upgrades arrived damaged and replacements failed.
- - Return process is a nightmare with wrong labels and heavy boxes.
I don't know who you have as customer service, but I've been struggling with Skye for a month now. Damaged products with no results, the only option was for me to wait for a return.
The 4040 pro I got was defective, so I threw another 500$ at it for a 6040 upgrade. Low and behold, it comes damaged and defective too? So the awesome customer service wants me to return it. After 4 days of more emails on top of the three weeks of emails, I'm struggling to send this stuff back.
They sent me a prepaid label for shipping. I'm thinking finally I can get these boxes off my floor that have been here my entire vacation, but they even messed the shipping label up, made it for 19lbs when boxes weigh 56 lbs altogether. The boxes came individually and they want me to drive all the way to UPS, which isn't close to me, wasting more of my gas and time, and get a ginormous box that I don't have to send their defective product back! This has been the worst purchase experience of my entire life!
The original base I got with the machine had burrs and could not be put together, it was also late in shipping, so I got the upgrade which came with scuffed-up poles and a broken wire harness.
Now, the return is a nightmare too! My entire vacation wasted on this company!
- Machine has potential
- Quality control and customer service and prices to high on upgrades
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: But a Fox or xcarve and order from Amazon not the company

Verified ReviewerLost shipment
- - Support has not responded.
- - Order SSM#119418 not found; replace or refund; need a compatible machine or roller return with label.
Hello and good day:
I have tried several times to contact support with no response. The order SSM#119418 cannot be found and needs to be replaced or refunded, completely.
I do not need a one-hundred-dollar roller and no etcher to go with it. Either ship a new machine that is compatible with the roller purchased or authorize a return of the roller, including the return label.
If you spent more than a thousand dollars, you would expect some sort of response.
- No customer support
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered
User's recommendation: Customer support is non-existant
