Horrible work, defective work

I had a rear end put in my truck while I was traveling by Ronnie Smith Transmission in Abilene. Drove it back to Houston and noticed it howling. Took it back to Ronnie and left for one week (14 hour round trip from Houston plus hotel and rental car while waiting). They said its fixed and I drove it back to Houston, but still the same problem. I took it to 3 different places and all said the rear end needed replaced! Warranty expires a few weeks ago and Ronnie said too bad. I would caution anyone to never use Ronnie Smith as their ethic and work are horrible! Emil Zhiltsov

User's recommendation: AVOID RONNIE SMITH.

Never use this business again - pathetic business practices !!

I took a 1990 Plymouth Grand Voyager Van to Ronnie Smith Transmission for transmission service on 6-21-2018. I was sitting in the waiting room and one of their employees called me back to the shop as I had asked them to see if they could check the transmission motor mount to see if it needed replaced. They had driven the van from out front of shop to the middle of the shop area and had the hood up and was telling me oh, yes all the motor mounts, including the front and right front as well as the transmission mount needs replacing, and how they could do all of them that day along with the transmission service for of course an exuberant amount! Funny thing, I guess they thought I just fell off the turnip truck as we had just replaced the front and right front motor mounts!!! And, I told them so and had to get firm with them to get them to shut up about replacing the mounts and just do the transmission service. I went back to the waiting room and they pulled the van over to where they were going to do the transmission service.....it seemed about 45 minutes had passed and the guy in the front office got a text from the shop and he asked me if I had ever had any trouble starting my van. I said no of course not, why, and he said oh they can't start it. I went to the shop area and OMG, they had everything all torn apart on the steering column and pieces laying on the floor board! The guy said oh, I think I can fix it...I think something broke off up in the steering column....I immediately figured that whomever drove it to that spot just got out and flipped the steering wheel tilt lever and let it fly...rather than hanging on to the steering wheel and lifting the lever and tilting it up properly. The steering wheel was tilted up as high as it would go and it was not like that when I parked it out front. I asked him who drove it over to that spot....oh, he didn't know....I asked everyone in the shop....all of 4-5 people....GEE no one knew who drove it over there....I told them there must have been an invisible person there. They were like a bunch of first graders who were afraid to admit who had driven it over to that spot as now it wouldn't start!!! The owner finally came out and said well his guy couldn't really fix it and he didn't think his 'people' did anything wrong....that it was just old and that it just happened to break while it was in their shop!! REALLY !!! I said it was fine before you drove it over the spot for the transmission service! What a chicken *** businessman, in my opinion. I asked why on earth they would just tear it apart without even consulting me in the first place....well he didn't know...of course was looking down at the floor, in my opinion, looking guilty as sin !!! This was Thursday morning....the guy who had torn it all apart said , well he could get it started by crossing wires or something and would take it to whatever shop I wanted. i said I guess I don't have a choice in the matter since you all messed it up and now won't fix it. So, I told him where to take it and he said it would take it right away. Late Friday afternoon they finally took it to the repair shop...guess they must have been just EXTREMELY busy since it took them a day and a half to get it over to the repair shop.... all of maybe a mile or two.... what a joke !! The repair shop was amazed at all the pieces they just left laying on the floor board. It cost me $350.41 to fix what, in my opinion, they broke !! About 10 days passed before we got the van back from the repair shop. We drove it home....45 miles...and the next morning my husband was going on a trip so he checked all the fluids....the transmission was '2 Quarts low on fluid' !!! They charged us for 8.5 quarts of fluid for the transmission service. The shop owner who fixed it showed no leaks of transmission fluid on his shop floor nor was there any leaks on the cement drive under our carport after we had driven it home and it set overnight.!! So, In my opinion, the transmission service was not even done properly since it was still 2 qts. low on fluid !! Yet, I was charged $181.71 for the service!! OBVIOUSLY, I WOULD NEVER USE THIS BUSINESS EVER AGAIN !!!!!!
