Rocky Mountain Lodge and Cabins - Beware
Tell me what you think? We've had a gift certificate to stay at the Rocky Mountain Lodge and Cabins bed and breakfast in Cascade Colorado, and we have tried numerous times to book over a 2 year period with no success. How would you handle that if you were Rocky Mountain Lodge and Cabins? a) extend the expiration date of the gift certificate? b) allow the gift certificate to be transferred to someone who might be able to use it before the expiration date? Apparently the Rocky Mountain Lodge and Cabins feels that the upcoming expiration date of the gift certificate is non-negotiatable, and they won't let us give the gift certificate to a friend who might be able to take advantage of the available dates they do have left. What are your thoughts? Is this a fair business practice?

Rocky Mountain Lodge and Cabins
We are the owners of Rocky Mountain Lodge & Cabins. The holder of the Gift Certificate tried to make reservations when the reservation was near expiration, but either did not want to adhere to our minimum stay requirement, which is required for all guests, or the date they wanted to reserve we were already booked.
There was lots of availability over the two year time period, just not the one date the customer requested. Due to this incident, we no longer offer Gift Certificates. We have had thousands of guests stay with us and pride ourselves on offering a wonderful experience for our guests.
