SPOT DELIVERY RIP OFF
- - Dealer pressed me into a car due to bad credit.
- - I bought a 2017 Malibu with $3k down; later the bank questioned my employment and demanded return.
Went to Rick Hendricks Chevy in Charleston SC back in Nov-Dec 2016 to buy a used car. They said my credit was bad so I'd have to buy a used car under 15k and then tried to make me buy a used BMW 3 which I didnt want so I left.
Fast forward to March 2017... I found a used BMW 5 series under 15k on Rick Hendricks website and so I drove in to see it. The salesman said I'd have a better chance at buying new with my bad credit and said the Tahoes had a great rebate. The Tahoe he stuck me in was around 70k fully loaded.
Of course, I loved it.... After leaving me alone in the truck with air running and radio playing he came out from the dealership and said "someones going home happy tonight".. Well 30 minutes later after he asked if I could put down more than 3k and I said not much more he came out and said the bank wouldn't do it.. I could have told him that....
so I left. A week went buy and I found another BMW online under 15k so I sent a text to my salesman giving him the info about the car.. he replied that my credit was too bad for them to transfer the car from the location it was at BUT the "manager" at Rick Hendrick said he got me approved for a 2017 Chevy Malibu but I had to buy the exact one he wanted me to... They just needed my 3k down and all was good..
Well, I took delivery of the shiny new car on April 5th 2017 then a few weeks later they said the bank was having questions about my employment. The bank called and spoke to my supervisor but I guess that wasn't enough because on the 28th the salesman said they needed my bank statement. Around 5 I sent the bank statement and in just a few minutes after sending it the "manager" said it was fake and that the finance company verified that with my bank (which the finance company is a subsidiary). He DEMANDED the car back right that minute or he was calling the police on me and have me arrested for bank fraud.....
I wasn't in town and told him that but he didn't care... He said I'd have to take up the problem with my bank and the finance company myself. I told him I wanted my $3k back and thought I would get it back when I dropped the car off the next day... NOPE....
Neither the "manager" or salesman would return any of my messages till I said I would get my attorney involved and then magically the manager responds with "PLEASE". I tried contacting someone the complaint department and I got a response from the "manager" saying he was going to now sue ME for the miles I put on the car.... what???? I told him that the "Vehicle order form" states on the back in paragraph 4 that I should get my money back..
again more threats with police and lawsuits. I call the corporate office and got to leave a message with some Larry guy and still haven't heard a peep back from him and it's been weeks.. I just want my $3,000.00 back and an apology would be nice. I've given them enough time to right this wrong so now I'm going to make sure I tell my story to anyone who will listen.
Don't give this place your hard earned money if you have bad credit... summary... they knew my credit was bad... they literally picked the car out they wanted me to "buy"..
they already knew I had 3k to put down so they took it....
3 weeks later they demand the car back and threaten me with police and lawsuits... HORRIBLE PEOPLE!!!

Preferred solution: Full refund
A great sales manager
- - I signed for a 2016 Impala but returned it in 3 days due to interior odor; Tony Holmes offered cleaning and a possible reversal, and kept his word.
I also wanted to mention Raul Suarez in finance as being efficient and personable.
Re: Rick Hendrick Chevrolet on Savannah Highway in Charleston, South Carolina. I wanted to test drive a 2014 Impala or a Kia so I drove over to the Auto Mile to test drove what appeared to be the only Impala on the lot.
I signed on the dotted line for the 2016 Impala but I returned the car within 3 days because the interior odor was causing severe allergic reactions. The Sales Manager, Tony Holmes, offered to have a cleaning service come out to remove any odors, and if that did not eliminate the allergent, then he would reverse the deal. He offered a solution and kept his word.
I was very impressed by him. I would recommend him.

forgot to say I went to my bank just like the "manager" said I should and they said that no one can or did contact them and get my bank account info! I called the finance company and the guy wouldn't give me a straight answer when I asked him how he got my "real" statement.
The dealership "manager" said he had the real statement in his hand when he demanded my car back.. lies!!!!
