NC Toyota Dealer False Ad
- - CarGurus listing showed NEW with 4 miles but the car had 700+ miles.
- - They refused lease and new-car financing after price was agreed.
Yesterday I contacted Rice Toyota (336-954-****) to make a purchase on the NEW Silver Venza XLE Hybrid with Boulder interior...they called it birch...pictured as NEW and shown with only 4 miles. After agreeing to the bottom line price we started to discuss financing and I learned the car was NOT NEW, but rather Certified New as it had been titled back to the same dealership!
In addition I discovered it had over 700 miles on it - not the 4 miles clearly advertised on your CARGURUS site.
Consequently, Rice Toyota refused to provide both Lease financing, AND regular New Car (ownership) financing!
And this was AFTER we had agreed on price. I double-checked their CARGURUS listing just now and saw they had made no attempt to update and correct the FALSE AND MISLEADING information.
We fully expected to be able to lease this vehicle, since it was listed as NEW! This development completely nixed the sale and purchase.
PLEASE contact Rice Toyota General Manager, Mary Rice and instruct her to correct her ad IMMEDIATELY so that no other unsuspecting purchaser has to go through the hellish experience of expecting to negotiate a car long sought, only to be totally disappointed in the dealership's refusal to make good on their advertised car.
Or, you might wish to ban them from using CARGURU altogether. There are still laws against baiting and switching are there not?

Preferred solution: My solution is to have Rice Toyota correct their misleading and false ad with you folks and then order the car they did not make good on and agree to lease the car to me with the same trade-in value already negotiated and deliver the car to me in Southpo.

I'm so pissed about the fact that rice Toyota in Greensboro is getting away with a illegal action. My wife took out a lease in her own name and after reading over the contract after we were able to locate the alleged contract we found out that rice Toyota illegally put my SS# and my license # on her contract without my permission.
