Changed recipe

Crunchy plastic pieces while the rest turns to mush. Rice a Roni has definitely changed product.

Won't buy anymore. Used to be a favorite side dish.

Product is not cooking all the way

Per instructions rice comes out crunchy and dried out cheese. Just not good.

Sticky glob. Not appealing at all.

User's recommendation: Don't buy

I love Spanish rice. There is only 1 reason they didn’t get 5.

AI Highlights
  • - Prices up as portions shrink across products.
  • - Changes to recipes: noodles smaller; rice-like bits taste like plastic.
Rice A Roni - I love Spanish rice. There is only 1 reason they didn’t get 5.

Every company, whether food, toilet paper, or laundry detergent, is sizing down but raising the prices. I hate when food companies have a perfect recipe that people have loved for years, and then they change it.

Noodles are smaller, and I have no clue what those chopped-up things that are supposed to taste like rice taste like—plastic! Why change the recipe and ingredients? I'm pretty sure I'll never buy it again, which is sad. The old recipe, the good recipe, I could eat the whole pot!

That's how good it was!

This supposed rice is very strange; I honestly do think it's plastic. I'm going to have it tested.

User's recommendation: If you’ve never tried it, you should of years ago when it was good…

Product concern

AI Highlights
  • - Foreign material (plastic or glove) in Rice-A-Roni cheddar broccoli.
  • - Part of it swallowed; some retrieved; photos exist; requests timely reply.

I purchased and prepared a box of cheddar broccoli rice-a-Roni, and I buy Rice-A-Roni products often. This time, while eating dinner, I felt something in my rice, and before I could get it, it was in my throat.

A piece of plastic, a rubber glove, or some sort of food service material was left in the box. While choking, about half of it was retrieved from my throat, and the rest was swallowed.

I have pictures and videos of this foreign material, but apparently, I can't share them here. I expect to hear from someone in a timely manner, or a once loyal customer will become a big-time enemy, and I'll do what it takes to make public how dangerous this product is simply because of negligence.

AI Highlights
  • - Asked if Rice-A-Roni's color changed from yellow to white; agent said it changed in 2019.
  • - Agent hung up before answering the color-change question.

I called to ask if there had been a change in the recipe for chicken rice a Roni because it was white rather then yellow it has been for years, the agent told me there was a change in 2019 I said well that was years ago and she hung up on me. Never got an answer about the color change
