Verified ReviewerThey stole over $12,000 dollars of my friend's retirement money.
My friend has ALS ("Lou Gehrig's disease") and had to quit her job with her third-to-last employer, HCA Healthcare (two locations, specifically, Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH [from where she was fired in a disagreement about medical leave--the Federal judge came up with a split decision on the two issues in the case}, and then Portsmouth Regional in Portsmouth, NH), who transferred her (more than) $12,000 to RCH in January 2023. Within two months, her account balance was down to zero.
On an account statement received January 2024 (the first such detailed statement she ever received), it states that she'd withdrawn a total of $122.27 and, along with their ridiculous (scam) fees. this closed her account. I BELIEVE SOMEONE AT RCH MOVED A DECIMAL POINT TWO SPACES TO THE LEFT, REDUCING THE VALUE OF HER ACCOUNT FROM $12,227-something TO $122.27. Maybe the company sent her a check for that amount.
Because of having to deal with her ALS (she broke her left hip in late November, 2022), "things fell through the cracks." And, more bizarre, oddly enough, throughout 2003, my friend continued to receive quarterly statements from HCA Healthcare, indicating her account value was going up, and over $12,000. I will be contacting the Labor Dept. and BBB (at least) about this.
My friend was intending to use the money to purchase a wheelchair ramp ($11,000+). At least that amount will lower the tax liability on her 2023 Federal income tax as a medical expenses deduction.

Verified ReviewerTransferred my IRA directly to my TSP very efficiently.
I just paid the $130 to have the Fidelity rep sell my 4 stocks on the spot; worth it to me. No other charge. Was most impressed with Salwa in Charlotte, she had us with exactly the right Fidelity rep in 3 minutes and had every step ready to roll.
User's recommendation: Yes for non-trivial funds transfer.
Mutual Fund showing 18% they are showing 9% gain.
On talks of China based companies being delisted, they cut the actual percentage of those companies in talks of being delisted. The mutual fund shows 18% gain, but they are showing 9% gain.
This is fraudulent, and my retirement company has a conversation with them on why this is.
Yahoo Finance, TD Waterhouse, and Alight Financial showing 9%, while WeBull and PROFUND (site- the actual mutual fund) showing 18%.
This makes no sense, and there is NOTHING in the news about anything being delisted. This smells like fraud.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered

Failure to notify and excessive fees
Retirement Clearinghouse received funds for me from a retirement settlement involving a former employer. The company didn't notify me about the settlement or that it had my account.
I was made aware of it when I received a communication that it was raising its fees.
By that time, the company had drained the account with its excessive fees. Others who have had similar experiences can file a complaint with the Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/about-ebsa/ask-a-question/ask-ebsa

FEES FOR NOTHING
Somehow my old employer screwed up rolling over an IRA, and I guess about $50 were left over. This was transferred to RCH who proceeded to charge a $3 fee a month.
Withdrawing would cost $30.
Free money for RCH I guess. What a scam.
User's recommendation: You don't have a choice.
Fees charges
I got a letter telling me I this company received $63 from a former employer. They charged me a $2.50 monthly fee and a $30 distribution fee to give me my money (more than half of the money).
I guess it was worth the phone call but I had no choice. The former employer did not even attempt to let me know there was money there and send it to me.
This is legitimate but it is absurd to pay these fees to get your money. They "invested" it in some *** Government fund.No
User's recommendation: Nothing you can do but get your money out ASAP.

Verified ReviewerThank you American Furniture Rental for taking the time to rollover my 401k to a scam company.
From January 1, 2019 to Dec. 31st my balance from a 401k rollover dropped from $416.74 to $388.96. All from excessive fees.
Preferred solution: Full refund
This is a crime

INCOPMETENCE
I called the clearing house to closeout my 401k due to health issues. They put in the wrong account number and wrong telephone number. Now in order to get my funds from HCA needed for surgery I have to get an affidavit signed/notarized and sent in and wait for them to cut a check and mail it to me.
This is really *** service!
Scam firm
where did they come from, seems everyone has the same amount of money!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thiefs
I got a notice about a small 401k balance "Welcome to RCH Shareholder Services". .
.balance has been rolled over to an IRA with RCH in your name." Who the *** are you, I wanted to know. They also stated monthly account fees would be $2.50, increasing by .50 after a year and there would be a $30.00 to receive distribution of funds. I never asked for or wanted any kind of rollover and I certainly never agreed to incur any fees for doing so. Then they offer only one option online, no withdrawal option, but only an option to consolidate my retirement accoutns.
Tried to use this option to send the money to my other accounts, but the trick is you name the other accounts and RCH means to take your accounts from there and to RCH. It's a bad thing!!!!!!!!!!!
Preferred solution: Full refund
Money rolled over
I had a notice that the balance of 45.11 was rolled over to an IRA with Retirement Clearinghouse (RCH) on Feb. 15, 2017 granted it is not much money but it is mine.
I called and it is now 36 dollars on March 9th 2017 and a few cents the opinions given, I can close the account today by giving them 50% of the money. This is a SCAM company why would HCA do this just leave it where it was I did not request or give my permission to move anything or this company to get my personal information at all.
This is so wrong of companies to work from within. Now in this review I must enter 100 words to it to be submitted
IRA fraud
Same as the other complaint. Funds from a class action law suit were rolled to Retirement Clearinghouse.
It's a fraud and designed to steal money. This is an IRA and it's lost 10% every year TO MANAGEMENT FEES. I called to withdraw and was told there is a $50 dollar fee. You cannot reach them via the contact page on their website which I belive is intentional, they don't want a paper trail.
The only reason they have the funds is because of fraudulent practices. I have contacted the better bussiness bureau and Attorney Generals in two states. How do people like their CEO J.
Spencer Williams sleep.
Retirement Clearinghouse LLC Stole my Nortel 401k and charged me $50 to get my own $ back
Taking my Nortel 401k/Hewitt account hostage for days without my knowledge, loss of interest and demanding $50 service account fee to get my $ back
I check my retirement account every few days and I always do after a strong market day like Dec 18, 2014 only to notice my Nortel/Hewitt account xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx1998 went from $7,641.57 on Monday Dec. 16th to zero December 18th.
After going into a little bit of a panic, I figured the account might not be syncing correctly or some sort of log in glitch. I logged on my Hewitt account that has all of my current info and the bal. is $0. Called the customer service number and spoke to Paul.
I was told my plan ended and the funds were transferred to them. I asked that the funds be sent to me tobe rolled over. I had never heard of this company nor did I agree with how they became the manager of these funds. I was told it is a ACH transfer and no fund are available until Dec 26th, ten days after the transfer.
I asked to have my funds transferred to me immediately and they couldn't so no access to my $ at all. I asked for a check to be send as soon as they hot the account and they said ok, it is going to cost you $50. I questioned why it cost me $50 to get my own $. They gave me the story that this is an account set up fee.
I said I don't have an account with you and don't want one, I want my $. The said sure, we will send you a check - $50. I asked them to remove the account fee, it was bad enough that they took my funds without my knowledge for ten days but even worse and charging me for them. The fund this was in made over 26.8% this year so I lost the market 250 point down run this week and need to pay $50 for the privilege.
They refused to waive the fee and as of right now I have no access to my funds through Hewitt or Retirement Clearinghouse, LLC.

HCA did not transfer a balance of $12,000 to RCH because that amount of money is not eligible to be transferred without her permission. It is over the $5000 max automatic rollover limit set by the DOL. If she was getting quarterly statements from HCA throughout 2023, then that means her $12,000 balance was still at HCA.
