I owned a condo in Fremont, California for a few years. At the time, I worked for an employer who was expanding into new markets and I asked for a transfer.

The new position was all the wey across the country in Maryland and I had knew I'd have to sell my unit.

I was referred to syed Farhan from a friend who had purchased a home with him before and had a greet experience. so I called and made an appointment to have him come see my boyfriend and came prepared with a market assessment.

Here is my review of Syed Farhan of Reliable Real Estate in Fremont, California.

Syed Farhan is a life saver. He singlehandedly bailed me out of tricky real estate situation and helped calm my (and my girlfriend’s) nerves.

Here’s what happened:

I owned a condo in Fremont, California for a few years. At the time, I worked for an employer who was expanding into new markets and I asked for a transfer. The new position was all the way across the country in Maryland and I had knew I’d have to sell my unit.

I was referred to Syed Farhan from a friend who had purchased a home with him before and had a great experience. So I called Farhan and made an appointment to have him come see my condominium. He was very professional – he met with me and my girlfriend and came prepared with a market assessment.

During our meeting he recommended a few “touch-ups” I could do to get the highest possible market value for my real estate. At the time, the Fremont real estate market was doing very well, so I was excited when Farhan proposed a list price that was $20,000 higher than what I thought I could get.

Long story short, within 48 hours of listing my condo, we got a full price offer! I was ecstatic. I was very pleased with how well Farhan had priced our house and his marketing plan was top notch. I never thought I would be able to get as much was we did for my little 800 sf condominium.

I was very excited and prepared to make my move across country to start my new job before the 1st of the year. I had to leave my girlfriend for a couple weeks as I was on a deadline to start my work.

The plan was for me to fly back in the middle of January to help her pack up our belongings. We had it all setup with the corporate moving company – they were going to put everything on the truck for us, all we had to do was box up the dishes, books, pictures and other small items. The moving company was even going to ship my Honda Civic along with our furniture. Everything would be trucked across country to our new home in Maryland. We were ready to leave Fremont and get on with our new life!

But then we hit a snag.

Our scheduled closing was for January 10th, 1 week prior to when I was flying home to help my girlfriend pack up everything. We worked out a rent-back with Farhan, so that we could stay in our place the extra week.

But here is the big problem – we signed the agreement and faxed it to the buyer’s agent who said she would get her client to sign it, that it was no problem.

One day later, I asked Syed Farhan what was going on with the rent-back. He told me what the other realtor told him, “They have signed the agreement and will be faxing it back tonight.”

“Sounds good,” I thought. I was making plans to come home and pack.

But all of that happened around the holidays and somehow the other real estate agent dropped the ball. The rent back never got signed and the buyer decided not to comply with our request.

Farhan called to give me the bad news and naturally I hit the roof. I was so upset, I was beside myself.

But here is where Syed Farhan did a great job for me. I’ll never forget what he said, “Well, I know you are upset, but are you ready to talk about a solution?”

I started to calm down and asked him what we were going to do.

He already had a solution in mind and had taken action for me. He said, “I’ve already arranged for a storage unit for your stuff. I’ll help your girlfriend box your personal belongings so they can be moved into the storage facility here in Fremont. It will only cost $99 to rent it for a few weeks and then instead of the moving company coming to your house to pack things up, they will just go to the storage unit. I’ve hired a couple of college students to move the heavy items into storage for you.”

Wow!

Syed Farhan you are the bomb! He had totally handled my situation and made things smooth and easy for me. I was disappointed that I could not make it back home to help my girlfriend pack and I was still very upset with the buyer for not signing after he said he would, but thank goodness I had a real estate agent like Farhan in my corner to help me.

I think you never know what could go wrong in a real estate transaction and the real pros shine when there is a problem. Syed completely handled the situation for me.

Later, I cancelled my airfare back home and got back to focusing on my job. I was happy to have a realtor who was so helpful.

So, my review is this: If you live in the Fremont area and are looking to sell your house, I would strongly recommend Syed Farhan of Reliable Real Estate as your agent. Not only did he help me get maximum value for my condominium, he helped turned a really bad situation into a good one with his forward thinking and “just get it done” attitude.

I can’t imagine not having him on my side.

And now my only regret leaving Fremont is I won’t get to work with Syed again unless I move back! In the meantime, I still have lots of friends in the area and will continue to recommend Syed Farhan and Reliable Real Estate.

Like everything else, you should do thorough research. Search the name of the agent and company on the internet and go through reviews.

I made the mistake of not doing this research before deciding which agent to work with.

In short, I ended up paying through the nose for sub-standard service. Unfortunately, I was a newbie in real estate and so I got fooled. But I know better for next time. I assumed the agent will act for my best interest and did not pre-negotiate all the details of the deal. I was wrong.

Again, atleast do a thorough research by searching all online reviews. Limiting yourself to sites like Trulia and Zillow means that you are seeing only the reviews the agent wants you to see. You need to scan many more websites for reviews before choosing an agent.

I had a very poor experience with Farhan of Reliable Real Estate. He is not a true professional but more of a semi professional. I would not recommend him to anyone.

He claims that he has been doing real estate work since 1992 (or 1996, depending on which posting you read) but if you look carefully at his past sales on Zillow (http://www.zillow.com/profile/Syed-Farhan/), then you will see that he had no sales for many years because he works on this on and off.

One of my friends told me that he knows Farhan as a daycare provider and had a really bad experience with him. Farhan and his wife Sobia had a side business of day care. You can read its reviews here - http://www.yelp.com/biz/sobias-daycare-fremont-3

In addition to my friend, many others had a horrible experience with this daycare and it was shut down by the authorities. This Yelp link will show you people talking about filing formal complaints with the licensing board. They also mention that Farhan called them on phone and threatened them to make them remove their reviews.

Do yourself a favor. Find a professional real estate agent who has done this work consistently and ethically for a while.
