AI Highlights
  • - Salesman quoted $13,600; I signed for $13,000.
  • - Crew kept 100A transfer switch; company says I signed for the old one.
  • - Permit requires a 200A switch; $3,000 extra.

I had their salesman Jim Caine come to my house and I gave him a quote I had gotten from Generax Generators for $13600 listing every item they were installing, h told me if I make it $13000 will you sign and I did in a laptop, then he told me to put away a folder he gave me until installation, a few months after an installation crew came from Miami, they told me they were going to keep my 100 amp transfer switch and I told them that I was getting a 200 amp new transfer switch I called the company and they told me I had signed for the old transfer switch that is where the bait and switch comes in , I checked and complained to the generator company and they told me that if they went from a 200 amp service that is coming into house and connect to a 100 amp transfer switch it would never pass Cape Coral inspection, they are the electricians and even though they said that I wanted the 100 amp transfer switch THAT IS NOT TRUE, they should have said you cannot have it because it will not pass code

Today they called me that the only way the permit would pass is if they put a 200 amp transfer switch and would have to pay them $3000

They are responsible for closing that permit and if they would have done it at day of installation we would not be in this mess

Loss:
$3000

Preferred solution: Install 200 amp transfer switch and pass Cape Coral Inspection
