Wedding Parties Not Allowed With New Owner

I booked the whole Redstone Cliffs Lodge back in April 2014 for the beginning of August to celebrate our wedding. At the time, the owner was Mitch and he was wonderful to work with. Told me he loves having wedding parties and would be more than delighted to help us with whatever we needed. I asked him at the time of booking the hotel if we could have our rehearsal dinner there on the Friday before for around 70ish people. He said that was no problem and that he'd run to the church for us to grab more picnic tables and/or get us tents from them if we needed. Since making the reservation, the owner has changed and boy oh boy could you tell! As soon as Kim and Billy, owners of the Crystal Club Cafe(which is awesome!), told me there were new owners end of May I called the next week to confirm everything was still the same and review room reservations. I spoke with a lady who was really nice and she confirmed again that it would be okay to have a rehearsal dinner there on the property. So, I took that task off my plate and did not worry as it seemed everything would be fine as that's the way it should be with new owners of something, seamless or better. Not worse. Well, we had a horrible experience with this new owner. He will not last long there. Guaranteed. We arrived Friday afternoon after check-in time and only a couple of rooms were ready which was not a big deal for us. The lady, who I assume I spoke with back in May, helped check us all in and we started to set up for a bbq style party by the river. The new owner was not happy about this, came by at 10pm on the dot waiving his flashlight in our faces telling us it was time to go to bed. We scattered after that, but he continued to come back after having only 5-6 people by the lit fire. It was ridiculous and we all felt like teenagers regardless that we were getting married the next day and were hanging out with our parents and relatives. He threatened to kick us all out of the hotel. The next day he continued to put up a fuss and put nasty signs warning any drivers that were thinking about parking there for the "event"(obviously directed towards us) that they were not allowed. This wasn't even necessary and nobody was going to be parking there in the first place. My fiance (at the time) asked the lady if we could do our quick, 5 minute ceremony there by the river and then head over to the reception. She responded with yes and as soon as the owner caught wind of it he told multiple people that it was out of the question and not allowed. He also proceeded to say he would never let a wedding party stay there again. Well, good luck with that in a tourist town, buddy. The wedding we had was perfect at the Crystal Club Cafe and everything was wonderful. He did not by any mean ruin our wedding day, but his whole approach/attitude could have been much different. He's very rigid and clearly does not care about this clientele. It was really too bad as we had to tell The Crystal Club Cafe this news and they refer people all the time, also had to tell the general store and the other 2 hotels in town. Hopefully they will get more business in the future because this new owner is completely out of line and so hard to deal with. Best of luck to anyone who tries to stay here. You're gonna need it!

Andrea and I cannot speak to the specifics of this review, which describes events which occurred long before we took title to the "Cliffs" in June, 2017. Please check out the many glowing reviews posted on numerous travel sites that time.

Thanks. Bruce Garr

Rude, Snarly, and unappolagetic

Redstone Cliffs Lodge in Redstone Colorado. The water in the faucet could/did scald a young child, they have no phone for guest to use and they will not let children under 12 use the Hot Tub / Spa due to "insurance" reasons. The managers are short term staff and the long term manager has taken a job at another resort, because he was despised. The owner would like to sell the place for millions and it is not worth $500,000. Have stayed there many times and it used to be a nice place. Has gone down hill for the past 5 years. We will stay down the road at Avalanche Ranch the next time we are in Redstone or Carbondale

The events described in this complaint took place long before we began to operate the lodge in June, 2017. Thanks. Andrea & Bruce

Did you look at the for sale sign ***? It was listed for $895,000.

The long term manager was never despised and perhaps it's you that changed and it's best you don't stay in Redstone anymore. We have great people and the rude ones please don't come back.
