Doesn't work reliably, no support.

AI Highlights
  • - The Red Door is unreliable and stops working every few days.
  • - There is no troubleshooting guidance or support, and the design and materials are poor.

The only thing good about the Red Door is its color. It does not work reliably, stopping every few days.

By trial and error I found that restarting requires uninstalling the door off the coop and resetting some microswitches, if you are lucky. There is no troubleshooting documentation. There is absolutely no customer support by email and no phone number. In spite of a lot of time I put into getting it working, it has finally stopped for good.

The design is incredibly bad. The material used is extremely thin and was warped on arrival. There is no moisture protection for the electronics.

This is a scam. Don't buy it.

REDdoor auto chicken door

AI Highlights
  • - Received a broken door; a replacement was given.
  • - The door did not shut at night, twice.
  • - Owner said he was selling the business; can't be found online.

I received a broken door and I took it to them at their shop and got another one. I have not had a year and twice the door did not shut at night and I lost a chicken.

I just lost my Rooster last night because once again the door did not shut and the rooster gave his life for the flock.

They are a rip off and the last time I talked with him he said that he was selling the business and I would have to deal with the new owners. Now I can't even find them on line.

Door does not work outside

AI Highlights
  • - Documentation cites an optional rain cover not shown on the website; door fails in rain.
  • - Paid $250; the door seems flimsy and I doubt a refund.

Don't buy this unless your chicken coop door is fully protected from the weather. After spending $250, my door worked only until the first good rain.

I looked back through the documentation and saw that you could buy an optional cover to protect it from the rain, but I never saw that on the website. I am very disappointed and will not buy from them again. The door looks very flimsy and basically it was a waste of money. Who would expect a chicken coop door to not work outside in the elements?

I would love to have my money back but I don't think that will happen. Save yours.

This business is a scam operation

AI Highlights
  • - John Zarpak and his business are accused of a scam.
  • - Promises aren't honored, returns are refused, site is down, and Maryland AG investigates.

Beware of this business and it's owner John Zarpak as it is a scam operation! He produces products of very poor design and will not honor the websites promise to support it.

he will attempt to get you to purchase other inferior items and will not return items sent back for repair. Currently the website is shut down as he is once again morphing into another business name to escape those that he has defrauded. He and his business practices are currently under investigation by The Attorney General of the State of Maryland.

I am waiting for him to resurface under another business name and will keep consumers informed as information comes available!

AI Highlights
  • - Door failed after install; defect cited.
  • - Returned; not repairable, trashed due to moister.
  • - No refund; 20% discount offered; loss $245 + $12 shipping.

This issue has not been resolved as the company refuses to return the door I purchased from them after it was sent for repair at there request! Repeated request to get my property returned have been ignored. It appears that they are running a scam as they offer a discount on the purchase of another door, want honor the promise of supporting there product and want return anything sent back for repair!

Original review Dec 11, 2015

I purchased an automatic chicken coop door from this company via there website advertising items to be used in a chicken coop environment. There website states: Proudly Designed, Built, Sold and Supported in the USA.

This statement is fraudulent! The door was installed as directed and shortly after failed to work. I contacted the company and spoke with John Zarpak who had me perform several trouble shooting methods none of which worked. I was then told that the model door I have has a defect that had been improved upon.

I was asked to return it for repair. I did so and then received an email stating that the door was not repairable and would be trashed the explanation for the failure being that the door had been exposed to moister from chicken manure. Really, it is advertised as door for a chicken coop but not supported if it is used in a chicken coop environment! I was offered a 20% discount on the purchase of another door.

Really, I was expected to invest more money in a product of very poor quality that if used in a chicken coop environment would not be supported. What a scam! I asked for either repair as promised or refund and was denied. I then asked for the door to be returned as I do own it.

That request was denied as by their own statement it had been trashed. I have nothing to show for the 245.00 plus 12.00 return shipping. This company is a complete fraud and will scam you out of your money and your property.
