I am extremely disappointed with Recker and Boerger. I have purchased appliances there a number of times over the years and never had an issue.
I recently bought a four piece kitchen package for a house we are remodeling.
The delivery people called me when they arrived at the house and I gave them the lock box code since no one was available to meet them. Rather than dropping the appliance inside the house, they Left them in an unlocked detached garage for someone to steal. When I found out today what they had done, I called to see about getting them moved inside the house. The store manager began to lecture me on why I just had to live with it.
At no time did anyone ever tell me that they would not set the appliances inside the house. What if I hadnt had a garage at all? Would they have unilaterally decided to leave them in the yard? The store manager was condescending, dismissive, and refused to talk to me about it any further.
We spend at least $10,000 every year on appliances and Ive never had anything like this before. She told me she wasnt worried about my business.
Surely there is someone higher than her that does care. Customer Service is a thing of the past!

I have always heard great things about Recker and Boerger so I was in need ok a washer , I went there even know it's not safe out. I pick one out they leave it in front of my house ,I pay to get in my house and hooked up and it leaks I call the store where I purchased where the sales person Amy was very rude ,she said for 39 dollars they can come in and get the washer that was delivered yesterday, and leave a replacement out front if it's not safe to come in my home due to the Corona virus it won't be safer if you charge me .
This is your error the washer leaks and she was nasty to me as though it's my fault. I would not shop there again or recommend this store to any one now I am 62 years old I have to get the damaged washer up stairs and out front tomorrow ,so they leave a different washer out there.
I am very disappointed in there service. The store is in cincinnati .sadly not a fan

Attached are pictures of the leak from the connection for the intake from this installation. Never had this problem before this.
What can you do to resolve the issue. Very disappointed!
This is the only pipe that shows any sign of moisture on it.

This is my first ever negative review for a commercial. My rating is based on the following: 1) poor products (The efficiency of their heating and cooling system is no better than my more than 20-years-old system); 2) technician lacking knowledge about up-to-date technology; 3) terrible installation work; 4) poor services (irresponsible).
I have decided that I will never have a business with Recker & Boerger (R & B) ever again period. The reason I write this review does not try to get any compensation from R & B. All I want is to prevent all my friends and others from making the same mistake as I did. We have used R & B services since we moved to Cincinnati 15 years ago.
We were happy with their services (e.g. seasonal heating and AC tuning) until last winter when our heating system went down. Since it was a holiday season, we were in need of a warm house. We purchased a heating system and an AC unit (since it was also outdated) from R & B without searching for other options since they were kind of having our trust (Although we found that the quality of their technicians and services have been declined since we first used R & B).
We expected (so does the technician and salesman) we would save some money from the utilities fee due to the brand new heating and cooling system as compare to the more than 20-years-old system. To our surprise, it did not happen. We brought this concern to R & B technician when he came to tune the AC this spring. He answered, Oh, you wont see much saving from heating but you will see it from cooling.
really!? I puzzled my head. Last month, our water heater went down. Again, we called R & B for help.
Mike (the same technician who sold the heating and cooling system to us) convinced us to buy a new system since it was not cost effectively to fix an old system. He suggested us to replace our 75-gallons unit with a 50-gallons unit plus a 20-gallons extra regulator (as indicated in the quote), which would provide an extra 20 gallons of hot water when the 50-gallons hot water exhausted. That sounds good idea since we only heat the water when we need an extra. But, when I queried how it functions (e.g.
how does it know when we would need an extra hot water), he just simply said that It is done automatically; you dont have to do anything different. I am not certain if it is controlled by temperature or pressure. But, I will check. Ok, then we bought a water heater from him again.
At the same time, he also promised that he would send someone to investigate our heating and AC system to investigate why we did not save money from the new heating and cooling system since we complained to him that we did not save money from both heating and cooling systems (Of course, he never came back!). Ok, from here on, things were getting ugly. During the installation, the installers were not sure how to install the regulator and had to make a few phone calls. When I asked how it functions, they could only give a very vague answer.
When they finished the work, I cannot believe what I saw. The layout was terrible. The suspension tank was placed in the front of the water tank (it used to be in the back), which is blocking the way to access the water tank. The gas pile was diagonally across the space, which is blocking the way to reach the back of the water tank (is used to be straight and neat).
I did not what to say to them. A senior installer was proud to tell me that the junior installer (the one that really did the job) is new and just joined the company two weeks. I guested that mine is his first installation and for his training. After they left, I looked up in the internet and found that the so-called regulator was simply a Honeywell AMX300 Mixing Valve.
What I learned from the internet is that this device is similar to the handle of a faucet that allows you to mix hot and cold water to a temperature you designed. So in order to maintain c.a. 120 degree water at faucet the hot water is heated to c.a. 140 degree in the tank.
So after 140 degree hot water mixing with cold water you will be provided more than 50 gallons hot water as you would if you dont have the mixing valve. So this is not something that I would order if I had known. Besides, the installers did not set my hot water tank to 140 degree and did not even check if my output water temperature was correct (for the obvious reason: they did not know what they installed). I immediately called Mike and told him that this is not something he had described to me.
He replied that he was busy and would get back to me shortly. I waited a couple of days and had no answers from him. So I emailed him. No answers from him either.
I called him again after one week. He said he was busy but did not mind talking a few minutes with me (what attitudes!?). Basically, he insisted that the product he suggested is great and he has installed the same unit to many families. But, no comments on that this is the exact system he described to me and how this system functions.
At the end, he said To make everyone happy, I will have to schedule a time to take that device of your water heater. Then, I asked if I can have the money back if he takes that devise of my system. He answered This is not my authority to answer. What?
I was mad. He has authority to remove my device but no authority to refund me money. So, I asked if he could give me the name and number that I can call for such arrangement and refund. He said he would get back to me that afternoon.
He has never contacted me since.
At this point, I have lost my patient and do not want to deal with them anymore. I feel my time is much more valuable than what I will receive from them.
DO NOT BUY ELECTROLUX/FRIGIDAIRE OR SHOP AT RECKER & BOERGER.
DO NOT BUY ELECTROLUX/FRIGIDAIRE OR SHOP AT RECKER & BOERGER. Neither company backs up their products or helps out their customers when you get a bad product.
In Fall of 2015 we bought an Electrolux Dishwasher from Recker and Boerger. We were told that buying this more expensive model would pay off and we would be getting a much better machine. It started out great. About 6 months in it wasn’t cleaning well.
We were no longer using the recommended pods, and using liquid detergent. The liquid detergent wasn’t dissolving and leaving a coat on our dishes. Particles were being left all over our dishes. We had to clean a third to half a load by hand every time.
We had techs from 2 different companies come out and tell us what we were doing wrong, and nothing helped. Finally a tech from the second company came in and figured out one of the previous techs put our filter in wrong and a spray arm was full of debris. He wrote it up as hard water deposits. 3 months later after several calls this part got replaced.
With a new part replacement in Dec. of 2016 we started over and the dishwasher cleaning degraded once again. Finally in Aug. of 2017 we started emailing Electrolux and Recker and Boerger.
After playing phone tag for 3 weeks I finally spoke with a woman at Electrolux. She wants me to pay for labor to have this machine repaired since it is out of warranty. The machine has a flaw and has never worked right for more than a six month stretch. They want me to pay more money to have this machine repaired since it is out of the warranty period.
I don’t think I need to pay for anything since it was never correctly repaired during the warranty period. BEWARE ELECTROLUX/FRIGIDAIRE OR SHOP AT RECKER & BOERGER DO NOT BACK THEIR PRODUCTS. THESE TWO COMPANIES HAVE GIVEN ME THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH AN APPLIANCE PURCHASE EVER. STAY AWAY.
I say this after being a loyal RECKER & BOERGER customer of 10 years.
I used to buy scratch and dents for my rentals. This is how they treat you in the end.

I have another.pdf created that shows pictures of my yard, but I can't get it on this site. It says you can have up to ten .pdf's but I guess you have to upload them all at the same time or something, because I can't get them to show up on this page as a second addition of .pdf's. If anyone wants to see those pictures, please contact me by leaving a comment and we will work out a way for me to get them to you.
I just posted a .pdf that shows pictures to prove what they called filth was where I had moved furniture to make a path for them to bring the refrigerator in.
Also, in addition to problems with employees and a broken refrigerator being delivered and left, our back door - both the main door and the storm door - were broken during delivery. The storm door alone will cost over $100 to fix. Also, one of the delivery people threw a jacket on my plants and ruined a few of them.
We now have a working refrigerator with absolutely no thanks to Recker and Boerger. We went to a little Mom and Pop place in our neighborhood and everything went smooth as silk.
In two days we had the situation resolved with none of the problems we had with Recker and Boerger. Actually, the guy who came out last night looked at the left side of our house and said, "Well, it's obvious you are doing work on the retaining wall and this concrete garage, and we can't get the refrigerator past the stacks of concrete on the sidewalk, so you were wise to take R&B through the yard as that is safer that maneuvering a big fridge past bags of concrete right next to a retaining wall." So, we went to the way R&B went through our yard, and the guy said, "Well, you have wheelbarrows and tools here still out to show that you are working on something. I think it's good that you are working on putting your house back together after caregiving. What are you working on over here?" I told him we'd just finished a roof repair, and he said, "What did R&B expect for you to do - come out here and clean up the yard while stuff was falling around you from the roof.
This really isn't that bad for so much construction that has recently gone on." Then, he came in the house and he said, "It is obvious that you had to make a path through this solarium and the kitchen to make room for the fridge to come in, so you've got most of your kitchen stuff stacked up along that far wall. I'd think they'd be grateful you cared enough to clear a path. That isn't dirt or clutter - that is the remnants of moving stuff so the fridge could get through." We had a working fridge with no problems before he left, and if our house was so nasty like R&B tried to say then I don't think this guy would have stood in our kitchen talking to my husband for a long time before he left. He and my husband seemed to have an instant rapport, and since it was the last appointment of the day this guy took his time and cut up with my husband the whole time he was here.
It was such a positive experience. Some people who were involved in helping us find this resolution (that took two days from finding the solution to delivering the solution with no problems at all) told me that the mistake I'd made was being my typical Type A personality and apologized for everything not being perfect like I usually try to keep it when I should have been saying just do your job. They said me apologizing so much for feeling bad that things weren't perfect due to the construction and being in the process of unpacking boxes of things people who had passed we'd been caring for had left us had opened the door for the delivery people who I overheard say they didn't want tackle the steps to find a way not to tackle the steps. The only thing I will agree with Recker and Boerger on is we do have some roaches that we carried in with the boxes we brought into the house of things that were left to us, and those will be eradicated as part of our project to put our house back together after ignoring it for a long time to take care of sick family members and their homes.
I will most likely post pictures later today once I figure out how to do it from my camera. Just grateful we found a company to provide this service who were understanding, compassionate, and professional.
This happened in the Tri-County store and I just noticed this said Erlanger. I tried to change it but couldn't figure out how.
I would like to add that if the refrigerator we bought from them would have been working and the first deliverers would have been honest about their right to take the doors off to fit it in the house, it would have been installed that day and this would have all been over. The fact that we are still putting our house back together after all those years of caregiving wouldn't have mattered to them, because they would have been out of the picture had they sent a working refrigerator and an honest worker at first delivery attempt.
What makes me so upset about that is that fighting this battle with them is yet another thing keeping me from getting the work done that they are judging us for not having done. When I was a caregiver, things fell behind because when someone needs to go to the hospital or is in crisis, you drop everything to make that the priority. When you care for multiple people like we did over several years, that adds up. I'm not upset about that.
That is understandable. That is acceptable. When we were slowed down due to making the house repairs I made in my original message and surprises that came up along the way with that, that is at least tolerable. But, to have to face being slowed down to make this a priority and then be judged for what fighting this battle has kept us from getting done is not acceptable and is making me have flashbacks to all the times I had to get behind on my work for legitimate reasons.
I have been working on unpacking boxes all day in our living room, and tonight I sat down and just felt cried because I realized if I hadn't had to fight this battle over the refrigerator that the living room would have already been done - yet they are judging us for what we don't have done. The whole thing is just very upsetting.
They say one thing and do another and don't take responsibility for what they have done wrong. They try to use what is wrong in our lives to put the responsibility for their mistakes on us. I own my mistakes, but I will not own theirs as well.
We are coming off over a decade of caregiving that has depleted our own health, so our house and yard are not in the best of condition. Since the last caregiving stint ended, we have been diligently working on our house to catch up the work we neglected while caring for others. We put on new gutters, replaced a massive retaining wall, and are still in major construction on a massive stone garage repair. We were honest with their staff about this from the moment I wheeled into their showroom in a wheelchair and explained how lifting people while caregiving had ruined my joints so that I can no longer walk long distances and how we were in catch-up mode. That was the time to end any transactions if they were concerned. I met the first delivery team at the top of our stairs, apologized for construction and overall mess, and explained to them as well. That was a time to end transactions if there as a problem, not several more steps down the road when we were trying to discuss their mistakes as well. We have work to do on our house. We own that. They made several mistakes. They need to own that. Blaming their mistakes on the state of our house is scapegoating us for their mistakes, and I'm not going to accept that.
We bought the refrigerator. It arrived. The team immediately began to make jokes about our front stairs, and I heard a couple of whispered remarks to each other about how they weren't going to drag that refrigerator up those stairs. They then told me the refrigerator couldn't fit through the doors. When I called my husband in tears due to the situation and the woman's rudeness, they told him the doors couldn't be removed to make it fit. The manager told us the next day they could. I'm sure the continuously improving conditions of our property were part of the issue, combined with not wanting to take a fridge up our admittedly difficult stairs. The stairs remark and rudeness is their responsibility. They need to own that just like I need to own continuing to improve my property, as I have been doing, after returning from a long stretch of caregiving.
At that point our property wasn't deemed so bad that they couldn't continue to work with us. They sent out another truck and other than some leakage from a refrigerator that by then had been sitting unplugged for two weeks that I had to clean up the house issue didn't seem to be an issue. THE REFRIGERATOR WAS BROKEN - that was the issue this time. The state of our property did not excuse them delivering a broken refrigerator. That is their responsibility, and they need to own that.
A man came to fix the fridge. I wasn't here for that one, so I won't remark.
Our property still wasn't so much of an issue that they cut off service. They sent out a third team to replace the broken fridge. One of the delivery people was very rude to my husband, including the use of foul language. Again, I accept that the state of our property that has been continually improving since our long stretch of caregiving ended was said to be part of the problem. I own that. I will not own that I was by the front door unpacking boxes as the two repairmen exited the property. I heard them making fun of my husband for trying to work with them and again heard a remark made about how they weren't going to drag refrigerators up and down those stairs. The rudeness, foul language, and not being honest about the stair situation is their responsibility, and they need to own that. Using the state of our property to not own what they did wrong is scapegoating us for their wrongs, and I won't accept that.
We called the manager. The manager told us he didn't want the broken fridge back due to the state of our property and told us he would reimburse us. I was on speaker and everyone who was with me heard him say that. He asked for my social security number and told me he was on the computer reimbursing me as we spoke. I called the bank today. Nothing was submitted. They told me it would take a few days to hit but they would know if it was submitted and it wasn't submitted. I called the store again and this time the employees told me that while the manager was on the computer stating he was requesting a reimbursement that he was actually typing a note that he would not reimburse us until the refrigerator that he said he didn't want back was returned and that he wouldn't come and take it back until the house was up to his standards. Saying to me that you are typing one thing into a computer and your store employees tell me you were typing the exact opposite - that is definitely not mine to own. I would worry about the state of my very soul if I did that to someone who has expressed to me the magnitude of trials we have been through. That was the last straw. I told the employee I was talking to exactly what I thought of their mistakes and that I wasn't going to own theirs, too.
I started owning my stuff when I came home from caregiving and began to orchestrate a series of major repairs and continue to own it as I unpack this stuff and clean up the boxes we brought here of things people left us. I owned it when I noticed some of the boxes brought roaches into our house and I put out ten packs of roach baits to kill to kill them. I owned it when I was honest about our situation from showroom to last contact. Now, they need to own the mistakes they have made as well, because they are many.

DO NOT USE THIS HORRID COMPANY!!
HOrrible experience! I purchased a new dryer.
I was not told a delivery time until the evening before, and then only given a 3 hour window. My dryer arrived, was hooked up but was really loud. It also didn't dry right. So they were to bring new one the following week.
I decided on a refurbished unit instead of replacing the new unit. The second week they brought the refurbished dryer, but it had a broken leg. Since it was missing a leg, it was unbalanced and is loud. So then they were going to bring another dryer the next week.
I get a message that they are delivering the following Sat. Then before I can call, I get another call that they are delivering on Wed. I hadn't even picked out another unit yet they were delivering. So I called to cancel that delivery.
The next day I get a call from the delivery guy that they are on the way. I said, I am not home and had cancelled. I contacted the store and they were bringing me the same model but an older unit than the one I had purchased. They didn't want to take any money off for the dryer being older than the one I had purchased.
I asked for them to just credit me the delivery charge of $29.99 for my troubles and inconvenience and the difference in dryer age. They refused. So I told them to come get the dryer. Of course they wouldn't give me a time and expected me to have a window for them to pick it up.
I told them I would not wait, that I needed a time. So we reached a stalemate. Finally, the manager agreed to refund my money and let me keep the off balance dryer, (they had removed my old dryer which I could have fixed). So I accepted this offer.
An hour later I got a call from a woman wanting to know what time they could pick up the dryer. I said, I was told that I could keep the dryer and they were to credit back my account. The very nasty woman told me that they would not credit me back until they got the dryer. So I then contacted a higher up store manager.
He took care of it and my account was credited. I wasn't going to post a bad review since they did credit my account and I at least have a dryer, even if it isn't working right. But today, as a rental property owner, with excellent credit, I again went to Recker and Boerger to purchase an oven. I was told that my account had been flagged to not render services.
I explained what had happened and how none of it was my fault. It wasn't my fault they brought me 2 defective dryers!! The guy said he would look into it and call me back. He didn't call me back.
So I am now posting my review for all to see,. In the past I had always been satisfied with this company and had done a fair amount of business with them. Now, despite having such a bad experience, I attempted to give them my business again. Instead I have been humiliated.
I would avoid this place like the plague!! I posted this review on the BBB and they responded that I could not be pleased and that I cursed at the sales people. This was a lie! I did curse at the woman who told me she wasn't going to credit my account until they got their dryer back.
THis was after I had already been told I could keep the broken dryer because they had already removed my old dryer. So they are FULL OF **it!!
Day THREE with no heat
I had R&B install a brand new Goodman heating/central air unit about two years ago. Three days ago it stopped working.
The tech they sent out yesterday "fixed" it and it worked for all of two hours. Now there is no heat in my house and the temp is 55F. It's FREEZING.
When I called, they sent someone out right away. But the problem isn't fixed and their 24 hour "emergency line" closes at 11pm. So I'm at day THREE with NO HEAT and it's already in the 30's outside. Some "emergency line".
I am VERY DISAPPOINTED. When I first started using them over 20 years ago, I never had a problem with their products or service. I bought my water heater and my washer and dryer from them. Up to this point, I haven't had any issues.
This Goodman unit seems to be a POS as my heating bill has almost DOUBLED from what it was with my old *** unit and my gas price has stayed the same. This thing is junk and the R&B techs can't seem to fix it. I'm just worried that I'm going to be stuck with this piece of junk and have to get it "fixed" every year until the warranty expires.
I don't have that kind of time to *** work and deal with this ***. This will be the second day I've had to go in to work late because of their incompetency!
Air Conditioning Service issues..
Purchased a new, replacement A/C unit from Recker and Boerger - Beechmont store in 2007 with 10 year warranty (5 years parts & labor) - Armstrong unit. The coil unit on outside went bad this summer (2013) and it took them almost 4 weeks to repair it.
The service tech would not return repeated calls to him, service mgr was useless to help and after almost a month it was finally fixed. Still waiting on them to pick up the old coil unit. In 2005, R&B told me Armstrong was the biggest seller of residential A/C unit in US and it was their "best" product, two years later they started selling Goodman! In all fairness, most of delay was with Armstrong getting part to them however their customer service and follow up is terrible.
Will NEVER purchase anything from R&B again. My recommendation - don't purchase heating & air from an appliance store.
Recker & Boerger damaged my floor!
Recker & Boerger, through their delivery people, damaged my 2 1/2 year old hardwood floor, baseboard, and dryer exhaust while delivering appliances to my home. I got tired of waiting for them to show up and look the damage they had caused so I repaired the baseboard and dryer exhaust myself, apparently at my expense.
Additional expenses will be incurred for hotel costs during the repair time, additional fees for boarding my pets, and moving and storage fees for furniture and appliances that must be removed in order to make the repairs. These expenses do not include any additional expenses that might be incurred being forced out of my home while repairs are completed and do not include the cost of downtime of my business which is operated from my home. Recker & Boerger feels this damage is valued @ $400 after they sent "their guy" to assess the damage, although he confided to me, with witnesses present, that because of the type of floor, the color of the floor, and the availability of the flooring material, it could not be repaired. He would recommend sanding and refinishing the entire floor.
I submitted an estimate from a reputable flooring company who also stated the floor could not be repaired and had to be completely refinished and now, because Recker & Boerger doesn't like what the experts are telling them, wants to send a "furniture repairman" to fix the damage.
A complaint has been filed with the Cincinnati BBB, which did the best they could do being powerless and it appears this will wind up in court. So, before doing business with Recker & Boerger, I recommend getting their insurance information up front, which is something I have not been able to squeeze out of them, and validate that information to be true and accurate.
RECKER AND BOERGER SOLD ME A DEFFECTIVE DRYER.
I PURCHASED A GE DRYER FROM RECKER AND BOERGER IN 09, LAST WEEK THE DRYER STARTED MAKING A NOISE AND SOUNDED LIKE SAND PAPER WAS INSIDE THE DRYER. IF YOU LOOK INSIDE THE DRYER, THE FRONT OF THE DRYER HAS STEEL EXSPOSED, IT LOOKS LIKE THE STEEL PART THE GOES AROUND AS THE DRYER SPINS.
MY FIRST DRYER LASTED FOR 8 YRS. THIS DRYER IS NOT THAT DURABLE AND RECKER AND BOERGER HAS TO DO THE RIGHT THING HERE AND REPLACE MY DRYER!.
I'M PISSED OFF THAT THIS DRYER WENT BAD LIKE THE WAY IT DID. CHEEP DRYER wow!

This sounds a lot like our last experience. Rudeness is not how you retain customers.
