Discourages independent thinking

Their system sends out email to all volunteers whether you continue to volunteer or not. They now say "well you are not a good fit." "Not a good fit" is a very generic term that educators always use to label you as unfit for their organization, particularly if you ask too many questions, and they are not very open-minded, even if that is their image.

The intent of course is to make you feel humiliated and ashamed of yourself, if not somehow completely inadequate.

How ironic that the very organizations supposedly designed to address the challenges that urban scholars may face (poverty, minority, disability, different learning style, etc) might be run on a fascistic authoritarian mode. It is extremely incongruous to have this "do as I do, not as I say" behavior as model for the American school child. It utterly devalues independent thinking except as sanctioned.

For instance, the training presenter and Reading Partner volunteer is encouraged to race through the regimen (always more to do than there is time for). They didn't answer my questions during the presentation because 1) I was non-white and an easy target. (Hint: they can disguise their bias by cherry-picking, for instance, they know they cannot display bias towards african-americans, but they feel it is okay to do so with other minorities.) 2) Questioning is not encouraged, and that mode of obedience and conformity is passed on top down to the student. The emphasis on speed, data generation, and production is to provide evidence of the great mechanical benefit.

All volunteers must be subservient to the Americorps site coordinator who is goaded to the height of the power trip.

This kind of overly busy regimen is designed to inculcate FEAR, GUILT, and NEUROSIS using the teachers as the model since they must now behave as expected at all times. What they are teaching is secondary to the behavior conditioning of "do as I do, not as I say." I believe their intent is that the urban child must be to accept that they are to be subservient to their betters who are higher up in the ladder and more likely to be non color.

This seems to be a class training system and they are also taking advantage of all the information too, in the race toward school privatization.

As an educator of experience, this kind of programming is detestable because it results in students who are less motivated to think for themselves, but instead think that they must follow, obey, or cheat if they can get away with it.

Orientation bias

Fsr reading partners did not provide me a critical form. They made meetings for school intros for the other two women.

When it came to me they said they would need to hear back from the school. That is a lie. The guys pulled schedules up on the computer for the schools. There was no reason they couldnt do so for me.

This may have been because I asked the presenter to explain about inappropriate touching. He deliberately evaded my question. Neither of them acknowledged my input as good. The presenter appears to lack solid teaching and education background.

Both men of noncolor brushed aside my teaching and university background. The outfit seems to run on a plug-and-play mentality when it comes to volunteers. The youthful americorps workers secretly resent older volunteers especially if they have multiple education degrees, have real teaching experience, and are working. So they really seemed to display a studied microaggression like not answering email, creating an obstruction course, and seeming indifference.

I am very disappointed with this new orientation process because i have worked two prior years with them and it was never so overtly sexist and indifferent before. Why are they trying to discourage me?

Possibly because they know it might actually help my work portfolio! If that is the case, i hope they draw better conclusions.

It is extremely incongruous to have this "do as I do, not as I say" behavior as model for the school child. For instance, the presenter and Reading Partner is encouraged constantly to race through the regimen (always more to do than there is really time for). This is designed to inculcate fear, neurosis, and guilt.

The child is also being conditioned by their hiring practices to accept that they should be subservient to their betters who are higher up in the ladder and more likely to be non color.

This seems to be a class training system and they are also taking advantage of all the information too, in the race toward school privatization. As an educator with YEARS of experience, I detest this kind of programming because it results in students who are less motivated to think for themselves, but instead to follow, to obey, to cheat if they can get away with it because all that matters is getting ahead.
