RAU held my dog hostage
My dog unfortunately left this world to early and we had to take her to Rau Animal hospital where we proceeded to have her cremated. Once Rau received her ashes they refused to return her ashes until the measly $500 dollar bill was paid in full. Unfortunately due to a 2 week pay period I had to wait for my next paycheck in order to FREE MY DOG from RAU animal hospital. I tried to work out paying half and half later due to my situation but it fell on deaf ears. My dog was held hostage for a week and a half in their cold greedy hands. My dog wasn't a pet, she was a family member, and a best friend. Save yourself from a horror story in your already time of grieving, find a Vet that sees your dog as your family member, not as a Dollar Sign.

I know for a fact they don't charge $500 for cremations. We've had several dogs who passed away or had to be put to sleep and never paid anywhere near that.
They also don't do it there. Your pets are sent out to be done. We always waited about two weeks. Looks like Leonin is lying or had other things done but it's simply not true.
It's a shame that unless people give you what you demand you can get on here and badmouth them but intelligent people can read right through that. You could never go to the supermarket or mall and expect to leave without paying. Get a credit card or find another vet. Our daughter worked there for several years and they are the best.
We wouldn't go anywhere else. Too bad Leonin made his financial problem theirs and got mad about it.

$500 is over the top for cremating, RAU take advantage of you, big time. It's not easy find a good Vet, RAU isn't one of them.
You mention it was a measly $500. If it was measly then you should have put it on your credit card or asked friends for the money.
don't blame them. My family has been going to Rau since 1945 when my grandfather took his first dog there. I grew up taking all of my pets there. I go to Dr.
Rosenblatt and love the hospital. Why don't you blame everyone for your financial situation.
