Purrfect Auto Catalytic Converter Scam
Two years ago I had a Catalytic Converter installed in my 2001 Suburban by a Purfect Auto Shop in Westminster. Apparently the shop installed the wrong Catalytic Converter and the problem was found during a Smog inspection. The vehicle passed with flying colors on the emissions test, however because they installed a FORD Catalytic Converter in a Chevy, the inspector FAILED my Inspection. Since then I've been going through CA red tape to try and get them to give me my sticker to no avail. I've been to the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) and had a Referee look at the vehicle and they won't give me my sticker due to the wrong CAT. Purrfect Auto will not return my calls and the station is now owned by another owner who won't replace the part. The repair costs for this were over $700

Purrfect Auto repair I spent thousands of dollars at Purrfect Auto and my car still doesn't run prop
On April 1, 2010, the vehicle, a 2003 Ford Mustang GT, was taken to Purrfect Auto Service located at 730 S. Orange Ave, Unit B West Covina, CA 91790 for a new engine installation. I was told by Hamid, that the cost for the repairs including labor would be $2,600 "out the door" taxes included, which is what is stated on the estimate. Hamid explained to me that he would call me when the engine arrived and that the car would be ready approximately on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. On April 6, 2010, I received a phone call stating that the motor mounts and exhaust bushings needed to be replaced. I went in to the shop and the engine had already been removed and disassembled. I then asked Hamid if I could purchase my own parts and he stated yes, but labor would have to be charged. I explained to Hamid that I didn't feel I should be charged additional labor, as the engine had already been removed. He then stated he would give me a call the following day in regards to the labor and also to notify me about the arrival of the engine, as it had yet not arrived. At that time, I explained to Hamid that he should have informed me beforehand that the motor mounts needed to be replaced and that additional labor shouldn't be charged because the engine had already been removed. Hamid did agree that it was his fault for not informing me about the motor mounts, but labor would have to be charged regardless. On April 9, 2010 I called the shop and spoke with Jesse Espinoza, who informed me that the replacement engine had already been installed, but was being tested by the mechanics. He went on to say it was expected to be ready the following day and would call once the vehicle was ready to be picked up. The following day, April 10, 2010, I called and was told it was still being tested by the mechanics and I would receive a phone call once it was ready. I received a phone call from Jesse at approximately 3:30pm stating the vehicle was ready to be picked up, but was told that the catalytic converters were plugged. Jesse recommended that the vehicle taken be to an exhaust shop to repair the problem, as those types of repairs are not done at Purrfect Auto Service. I arrived to the shop at approximately 4:30pm and was told the car was ready. However, when presented with the invoice, the amount on the final invoice was $3,050.00. I explained to the cashier on duty what they additional charge was, and he stated it was due to the labor. I asked to speak to Hamid and was told he was not available, but he could call him. The cashier called Hamid and they began to speak in their native language. I asked him to place the phone on speaker and I asked him about the additional charge. He stated that I had approved the additional labor and that now I was "just playing games" with him and that the car would not be released until the final amount was paid. I continued to explain to Hamid that I had not approved the final amount and he began to raise his voice at me. I explained to Hamid that I did not appreciate the tone of voice he was taking and Hamid responded by stating, "I don't care if you like it. Just pay it or leave" and hung up. I felt I had no other choice, but to pay the full amount as the vehicle is a much needed commodity. On April 12, 2010, the vehicle was taken to a shop where such repairs are done and was told that one of the converters was broken. The vehicle was then taken back to Purrfect Auto, because the car was still not functioning properly. When driven on the freeway, the vehicle would not exceed 60mph. On April 14, 2010, I was told the car needed yet another engine because the first one that had been installed was no good. Again, the car was left for the repairs to be done. It wasn't until April 21, 2010 that the shop contacted me, and informed me that the second engine had been installed, but the exhaust still needed to be fixed. On April 24, 2010 the vehicle was picked up by a tow truck and taken to an exhaust shop to repair the problem, but the car was still making a strange noise and the "check engine light" appeared. The following day I was looking at the engine, and found that a bolt was sticking out, which caused it to interfere with a belt that is found in the engine. The car was taken back to the shop on April 26, 2010 and the bolt was fixed, but the check engine light still appeared. It was then found that a sensor needed to be replaced, which was causing the light to appear. Again, I was advised to leave the car another day because the part was not arriving and it was not recommended for the vehicle to be driven. On April 27, 2010 I received a phone call stating that now the transmission was the problem and needed to be fixed and would run me $3,000. I strongly feel that something was done intentionally to sabotage the transmission, as I have never encountered any problems at all. When I first took the vehicle for inspection on April 1, 2010, I was told by Hamid himself that the car had a "solid transmission." I refused to leave the car at Purrfect for any further repairs and picked up the vehicle and took it back to my residence. A few minutes later, I went out to move the vehicle out of the drive way and the car would no longer move. On April 13, 2010, I began to search the internet for some help and it was then that I came upon the Bureau of Automotive Repair website and also decided to check the licensing for Purrfect Auto Service, only to discover that their license has a delinquent status. Since Purrfect Auto Service is operating without proper state licensure, I strongly feel that I should be refunded the amount that Purrfect Auto Service collected from me as well as all the other charges that came about as a result of their work

Purrfect Auto in Pomona, CA BLOODSUCKERS!
I took my vehicle in for major repair problem. I was told that I did not need the engine repaired but was given a very long list of other things and that totaled $2300. I had the repairs done and the car drove great for 2weeks! The same engine problems started again! I took the car back to them. When I picked it up again the worker told me "ma'am your car is ready its outside running, I cut the air on for you." I thought that was odd because it was very very low on gas. Two days later NO AIR in my car. I was told they would repair it for $165.00!!!! I told them the air was working perfectly before I took it to them! He denied they did anything! My car has continued to get worse with the engine problems they said they would replace the engine for me for $2600.00!!!! After they told me I didn't need and engine 4 months ago! They also told me I needed an O2 sensor and the would be an additional $295.00!!!! FOR AN OXYGEN SENSOR!!!! These guys will try to empty your bank account and they break things so you oome will come back!!!! Stay far far away!!!!!

PUUUUURFect Auto (Craig/95)
Took car in with 3 does. Left and the car sounded worst. Took car back and it still had 2 of the three codes. Was told that it was misdiagnosed, but still had to pay over 500 for what still needed to be fixed. I just wanted to codes fixed and it should not have to take over 1000. I called other shops and they told me that I got over charged and ripped off! I guess that's why there were no cars when I went. I simply asked that they fix the problem at no cost, and they said No! If I showed them the codes, they said they would fix them and two still come bk, YOU DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM!

Purr Fect Auto - Monterey Park / Alhambra
Be aware and stay away from Purrfect auto in Montery Park / Alhambra located in the corner of Hellman and Atlantic. I went for a oil change twice, from the two times I suspect the oil filter was not changed because it used the paper filters, not the canisters which they left underneath the car showing me that was the old filter, so I inquired with the staff if the oil filter was changed, they said yes. When it was time for the third oil change, I decided to go to another place for service. When the oil filter was taken out, the service tech advise me that the filter was disintegrated. He showed me the pieces and stated the filter was extremely old to cause this. Recalling what happen the previous two oil changes, I came to a conclusion that Purrfect Auto ripped me off two times. Worst was that my car could haved suffered damage. STAY AWAY.....I had other service done from the two visit which cost about $350. Thinking back, I should not have it done.

They will not honor warranty
I took my car in to Purrfect Auto in May of 2010. They worked on it for over a month. I wrote to Consumer Affairs; then, I received my car back on June 2010. I kept it and drove it. They claim to have done a lot of work on it. In the mean time, it started to leak again. I took it back. They put a solution in and changed a belt I bought. Then it turned hot here and my compressor went out. I took it there in Sept 2010. It was replaced May 2010; and, it went out again on June 28, 2011. I called and Jason told me to bring it in; I did. He said that the compressor is out; and this is my 3rd time bringing it back. He wanted to charge me for a diagnostic reading. I told him that I was not paying because I had been there 3 times for the same thing; and it was still under warranty. They should have checked to see what was causing the compressor to continue going out, and it's supposed to be a new one they've put in. He said it had failed twice during the warranty period for an unknown reason. I told him that ever since I had brought my car from them, something has been wrong with it. He (Jason) told me not to bring it there anymore; so, I told him I was writing to Consumer Affairs. That's why they are being fined now -- because of their working on people's cars. He was very smart -- Jason was. So I would like this to be looked into. John, the first fellow who was there, told me that I would have a lifetime warranty; but before he gave it to me, he had left. So I just want my air conditioning fixed. I'm a senior citizen, and I need my car to get around; so please see about this for me. Thank you.

Total scam artists-Beware
Last November I took our car to Purrfect Auto at Sunset and Valle Verde in Henderson, Nv for an oil change and brake job while there they convinced me that I needed new struts, being nieave I agreed to it, they had to keep the car over night waiting for parts. The next day they called me at home and told me that the catalytic converter was at 60% capacity and needed to be replaced at about $1000.00 when we went to pick up the car the tolm me the price didn't include labor , the price now being $1,450.00 but we still needed to bring the car back the next day as a part, something to do with the manifold hadn't come in. We heard ratteling in the front end when we took it back and told them about it, the checked out and said the installed the wrong strut mounts and would replace them, after that it seemed ok. Shortly after this my wife was in a car accident that caused suspension damage to the left front, the Manager at the dealership showed me that the strut mounts had not been replaced, just Mickey Moused so they wouldn't rattle, I asked about the catalytic converter, he told me that with the low mileage on the car he doubted that struts or the converter needed replaced but the remaining strut mount does need to be replaced. I have tried to use Purrfect Autos web site to try to get this corrected, they have no responded, does anybody have any suggestions?.

Perrfect Auto Smog Check Scam
I went to the Perrfect Auto #112 at 10050 S. Eastern, Henderson, NV 89052 My car is a 2008 with 24,000 miles on it. I have heard these guys were scam artist but I could not resist the $9.99 smog check. I went there my guard up. I had photographed everything before they took it to do the smog check. The mechanic was mad that I was watching his every move and called the manager over to block my view. The manager was pretending to help with the smog check by holding a flashlight and blocking my view while the mechanic began to do his dirty work (poking around the air filter and belts). I let them proceed because I was going to bust them in front of everybody waiting. The manager came over and told me that my belts were bad and I needed a new air filter. I called him a G.D. liar and pointed out that there was only 24,000 miles on the car and I had inspected my belts and changed the air filter 20 minutes prior to getting my smog test. The manager was steamed because I busted him in front of all the people waiting.

Purrfect Auto mechanics stole my ipod
On July 3rd I had my oil changed at the Purrfect Auto service center on Eastern avenue. After i picked up my car and left the shop, i realized that my ipod was missing. I had left it in the center console plugged in. When I returned to the store and questioned the store clerk, he told me that there's nothing he could do and that his mechanics were not thieves. I asked him to check with his employees but he refused and wouldn't help me at all. The police told me that I have to go down to the station to file a report, but i don't have much faith in them. Any help would be appreciated.

Purrfect auto durango/russell rip off artists!!!!!!
I went to purrfect auto on durango and russell to get my oil changed, the bill was well over 200.00. I asked them why and they said I told them to do a tune up. When I realized what they were doing,I told them to not do any spark plugs and they said they already did it and it was too late after 5 minutes. I told them to put my spark plugs back since they were fine. I had my husband call in to talk to them so I wouldn't get ripped off. They refused to give me back my car unless paid them 120.00 for the labor. So they refused to also do an oil change, filter or anything else. They told us not to come back because my husband said to them that they were trying to rip us off. They said my husband was disrespecting them....hmmm this sounds familiar reading other complaints. Keep your wallet safe and don't waste your time at that pit.

Not so "purrfect"
Whenever I am in need of an auto repair shop I always feel as though I am entering a carny shell game. You know, the game where you have to keep your eye on the little ball under the cup or shell that is being rapidly moved. If you lose sight of it, you might as well just hand over your wallet to the hustler running the game. The same logic applies to the auto repair business. Blink and you will be taken to the cleaners. I have learned that the first thing you need to keep in mind is that most places, that are of the chain variety, will price match their competitors. So if you have the time to get a second price, do it. You will be one step closer to getting your car fixed without having to sell the kids. This was the scenario I was faced with recently and it truly helped. It also helps if you have a service associate or manager who is familiar with you and your vehicles. In the case of Pep Boys & Purrfect Auto I had, or thought I had, such a relationship. As we all know, in this world, the only constant is change. The first change came when calling Pep Boys to get a quote on my repair and my "go to guy" Jose, wasn't there and the price I was quoted seemed unusually high. Next I called Purrfect Auto and my "guy" Lloyd wasn't there. In fact he was permanently not there as the place was under the dreaded "New Management" mantle. As I held my breath, I decided to give them a chance and asked them for a quote. To my surprise, not only was their price lower, it was substantially lower. So off to Purrfect to meet Jesse, the new management. Once I got there I soon found out that the hurdles I had cleared with Lloyd in the past were back in place with Jesse. With Jesse, and from what I have found out since about the entire Purrfect Auto family of franchises, nothing is ever simple. The words "sell up" are tattooed on every person who works there. Shortly after dropping my car off to them I got a call from Jesse. It wasn't just the one thing. No, it was numerous things that needed to be addressed. If not repaired immediately automotive Armageddon was headed my way. Purrfect is really into scare tactics. Especially if they think you are a first timer. Unfortunately for Jesse this wasn't my first time at their circus. "Please just fix what I brought it in for" I instructed him. When I picked up my car my invoice listed all of the scary things he told me I needed to do, with even scarier prices to go along with them. I didn't drive the car again for a few days, but when I did, Jesse's prophecy came true. Armageddon came with a vengeance. How could I have been so foolish not to believe him? When my AAA tow truck driver, Paul, arrived to take me back to Jesse's lair my hood was up. He took a quick look and immediately noticed missing parts. Parts, which in his estimation were partly to blame for the recent catastrophe. He being a mechanic as well as a tow truck driver, I took his word for it and changed my destination from Purrfect to Pep Boys. I tried to call my guy Jose at Pep Boys, but again he was off. Jesus, I want his hours. I did get Roland on the line and discovered he was cut of the same cloth as Jose. They both understood the value of repeat, long time customers and how hard it is to keep them. One glance at his computer told him how much money I had spent at their joint. Roland listened to my tale of woe and welcomed me with open arms. I felt like a cheating husband being welcomed back home by a forgiving wife. Once there I showed him the scary receipt with the costs from Purrfect. He did his best to keep his eyes from popping out of his head and said that while the initial service was less than they usually charge, the rest of the prices for the apocalyptic repairs were way out of line. Roland gave it his best shot but the problem persisted. The next day my boy Jose was back at work and he and his crew dove in and tried to solve the mystery, but the following day, on my way to work, the problem returned and back I went. Next up to bat was the service manager Charles. Now to be honest, when Charles first came on board at my Pep Boys over on Rosemead Blvd & Broadway in Temple City, we butted heads. I'm sure he didn't remember, but it was after we had our little altercation that I ended up at Purrfect for the first time. I didn't have the luxury of waiting for my "go to guys" to return. This was a desperate time and it called for desperate measures. I decided to play nice and see if Charles would do the same. Fortunately for me this time Charles stepped up and he and his mechanic Edward found the true root of the problem and my automotive nightmare came to an end. It took a village to solve the mystery, but the boys at Pep didn't give up until the job was done. They also did it, despite the extra parts and labor needed to do the job right, for far less than Purrfect Auto wanted. I guess it's my fault for taking my car to a place that can't even spell perfect in the first place.

I know our eceony is tuff, but certainly no reason to rip people off. the truth will surface sooner or later.
