Puppy Boutique AKA Puppy Petite, Brooklyn, NY Update
Puppy Boutique aka Puppy Petite In Brooklyn
The one year guarantee they advertise is absurd. I traveled all the way to NYC to pick up a puppy that I thought would be the same one that Puppy Petite emailed me a picture of. It wasn't, however I purchased him anyway. Before traveling to NYC, the owner emailed me and told me the prices for their "teacup yorkies" were between $500-$1500; however, they were realistically between $1000-$2500. I purchased my baby for $1600...only for him to die 2 weeks later due to congenital problems.
When my puppy initially got sick I took him to the vet and was told he'd have to be hospitalized. I immediately called Puppy Petite to see how they wanted to handle paying for his hospital bill because in their "guarantee" they state that they'll cover all medical expenses if it's due to congenital disorder. Puppy Petite told me that they would not reimburse me unless I took the puppy to one of their vets in NYC. Can you believe they wanted me to bring my puppy 400+ miles to NYC in order for them to cover the vet expenses? My vet estimated the costs to be $2000+ dollars and there was no guarantee that my puppy would survive. Due to the high costs, I chose to have my puppy stabilized and transported to NYC with an IV to Puppy Petite's vet so they could cover the costs.
My puppy eventually died due to a congenital disorder and Puppy Petite refused to give me a new puppy or a full refund for the purchase price.
***After doing a bit more research; I found the source of where my puppy really came from. The paperwork supplied with the contract, listed Sandra Parson as the breeder. I took the information from the paperwork and had it further investigated. As it turns out, the breeder is not local, she's located in IOWA. Therefore, my puppy had to travel 1200+ miles from the 'breeder' to Puppy Boutique when he was only 8 weeks of age (he as 8 weeks when I bought him, there's actually no way of knowing when he arrived at Puppy Boutique).

How awful to have gone through the sadness of losing a beloved puppy like that! What you may not know is that anyone who purchases a dog from a pet store such as Puppy Petite is directly supporting puppy mills, where the parents of these poor puppies are subjected to horrific lifelong neglect and abuse.
These dogs are no different from the puppies you seek to own. The only way to end the horrors of puppy mills is for everyone to adopt their wonderful, healthy, happy new best friend from a rescue group or animal shelter. There are every size, breed, and personality available, and you'll be avoiding the trauma of a puppy with horrible genetic issues from inbreeding, too! Save a life, and adopt, don't buy!
Help shut down puppy mills for good.
Search on petfinder.com, to get started! There are many more sites, too.
I bought my shihtzu from puppy boutique 5 years ago i even bought my mom her shihtzu before i bought mine all i will say is they should burn in *** i have nothing but ear problems with my dog and skin problems they should and hopefully one day be shut down i am disgusted over this whole thing seeing my beloved marbles suffer i am going to contact 311 again
I agree that the positive feedback below is from the owners themselves because they receive so much negative feedback. Why would a happy customer be a pissed consumer and have a need to search for this website?!
Puppy Petite needs to be put out of business for good!
Don't not be fooled by the positive reviews below. They are all written my the owners to fool and *** the public.
All these puppies for sale in the Puppy Boutique in Brooklyn come from puppy mills. All these puppies have congenital and hereditary diseases. Most of them will die within a few months. In research the unfortunate families who purchased puppies from this store had the heartache of losing their puppy while others were faced with medical bills as up to $8000 to save their puppy.
Most of the people I spoke to that experienced the above were devastated when the store and owner Stuart refused to stand by the "Store Guarantee" and Contract when they purchased their new puppy. They refused to pay the medical bills even though the contracts and store guarantee assured all the buyers that these puppies were in good health. The whole thing is a scam. Dont be fooled by this store.
A Staten Island woman purchased a yorkie from the store and the yorkie died within a few months. The store refused to pay for any medical bills while the dog was diagnosed with a hereditary disease. She later sued the store in the small claims court and The Staten Island Judge appalled by the stores refusal to pay the medical bills awarded her $5000. The parents of all these puppies live in tiny cages for breeding purposes only.
They are never walked and receive no medical attention. All the parents cant even walk as they are never let out of these tiny cages.
Once they cannot breed anymore they are discarded and killed. Tell all your friends and families about this store and spread the word.
Anyone who purchased a dog from the Puppy Boutique with illness or died please call 516-852 ****. We need names and address and your contracts. This is FRAUD.
Thank You
Please be careful of fraud in the pet medical industry. Always go to a second DVM because of the abuse cause by DVM's in the pet industry.
I went to Puppy Boutique 6 months ago looking for a Shih Tzu Puppy. They had lots of varieties in the color, they explained that this puppy would be a good fit for my NYC apartment living (with a little outdoor exercise) and the grooming requirements as well.
They were very helpful, which was something I didn't see at some of the other places I went. Now we are the proud parents of a very friendly Shih Tzu named "Monique" that is a treasure.
You have to come in and see the cutest Maltese puppies ever. They are all so friendly and entertaining, it was great to come in to Puppy Boutique and play with them.
Yes, I did end up buying one - how could you not! We bought the biggest performer of the bunch, and have been so happy ever since.
Good prices too. I'll be back at Christmas.
I couldn't find the Yorkies I wanted anywhere until I stopped in 3 months ago at Puppy Boutique. My requirement was a Yorkie that would be 3 lbs fully grown.
It was important that this new puppy would also get along well with my other dogs at home, and I was assured that this wouldn't be an issue.
Everything worked out very well, our puppy is really happy and excited. Our family wanted to say thanks!
My Chihuahua puppy was purchased at Puppy Boutique at Christmas of 2009 by my boyfriend. It was a surprise present, and I'm as happy today as I was back at Christmas time.
My puppy "Ariel" is sweet, assertive, and proud.
In my opinion, Puppy Boutique has the smallest puppies with the best pricing, which is exactly what I was looking for. I've already sent my cousin to Puppy Boutique as well.
Puppy Boutique was recommended to me by a friend. When I came to the store, I noticed puppies with great dispositions and appeared very healthy.
There was a big selection of puppies to choose from, and I got much better pricing than any of the other stores I visited on Long Island and NYC.
A very good experience overall, and my wife is extremely happy to get a new companion. A new Shih Tzu!
I have never had an issue with Puppy Boutique in the last 5 years that my family and I have gone there. We have two Yorkies and a Maltese from Puppy Boutique in Brooklyn, and we have never had an issue.
Soft puppy foods and extra warmth are both things that are unique to these toy breeds. The helpful staff at the store gave us all the information we needed to care for our pups, and our puppies are all perfectly healthy, never had a problem at the vet with any of them.
Just yesterday I drove 1 1/2 hours to Brooklyn, NY in answer to an advertisement in Newsday LI and after 5 phone calls to James at 718-234-**** #(in the advertisement) regarding Maltese puppies. He told me there would be 9 available on Thursday, Aug. 5th, from 3 pm until closing and sent me pictures of the most adorable puppies. He also told me they were 9 weeks old as of that day.
When we got there, neither the puppies or James or Marie (supposedly the owners) were there. There were some Maltese, and they were much younger, one bunch as young as seven weeks, and they said they only had one other 'batch' coming in, which was by plane, and they were very very late. We waited until almost 5 pm, why..I don't know, because the puppies were twice what we were told they would cost, at least the ones they had there at the time. They looked unhealthy and mishandled, and we never did get to see the other 'batch' because we had a very bad feeling about the place. It looked like a place that was put up in one day and could be gone the next, nothing like the website PuppyPetite.com or what he told us, that his wife was a breeder and that they would be present.
I was mortified by what I saw..and the way the business was set up, and the way the people handled the long travelers that went there for these puppies. I just know one batch was born on 6/14...and when I called him today, on 8/6...I was told I was wrong, they were at least 8 weeks old and I was mistaken, the ones I 'missed' coming in were the ones' for 450.00-600.00..the original price we were told on the phone.
We quickly left after I realized that three of those puppies at least were under 8 weeks, and put together with all the other stories I was hearing from people waiting, the lies he seems to have told them all, different prices, etc., and where they were coming from, and that they never shipped their puppies anywhere, and here they were coming on an airplane. I just knew not to trust it. But I was so angry, have been trying to figure out what to do all day because you can just tell these poor puppies from from puppy mills, not breeders, and not 9 week sold or up on shots, etc. I felt so bad for those puppies and also for the people ignorant enough to buy them even though they saw what was what.
Thank goodness I didn't buy any of the puppies. But these people should be arrested or at the very least stopped!! It's illegal to sell puppies under 8 weeks old!
I've never had any problems with Puppy Boutique. I've purchased two Yorkies from there (one in 2007, and another in 2009), and I've also sent my brother's family to their store as well. All happy, healthy, and very adorable!
I don't know wht just brought me to this website, but I am sick at reading Puppy Petite's comments. I bought my yorkie from them three years ago. Her name is Cookie. Cookie was born with a liver shunt, which went undiagnosed the first year of her life. I was already in love with her, and brought her to a world renowned surgeon at Cornell. Cookie had a successful operation, and healthy (so far). In the first year of her life, I was at the vet several times a month for hypoglycemia, seizures, and finally she was hospitalized after her conditions became more severe. The year of vet bills, and the liver shunt surgery costs me well over $4000+. I repeatedly contacted Puppy Petite who never returned my calls. I left many messages for the owner, and she never even gave me the decency to return my calls.
I hired a lawyer. After researching puppy lemon laws, the only NYS law that protects people is....the most I could get back from Puppy Petite is the price I paid for the puppy ($2000). The law states you can get : (1) a replacement dog (how sick is that?), (2) cover vet bills up to price of dog, or (3) refund of price of dog. I have done extensive research on this subject. Do not let these crooks fool you. They know exactly what they are doing, and what they can get away with. They should not be selling dogs from puppy mills, who are breeding dogs with congenital disorders. The good news for all you dog lovers like me, is that Cookie's DNA was submitted to Cornell University to a world renowned surgeon who is studying a cure for liver shunts. That is the ONLY thing you can thank Puppy Petite for. You can say a prayer for them that they stop being crooks, and taking advantage of people. And you can thank god that someone like me purchased Cookie and gave her a chance at life, and that her DNA will hopefully help other dogs.
PS: Did I mention Cookie was also diagnosed with a Luxatting Patella and Collapsed Trachea. I am taking that day by day. If Puppy Petite reads this, I really hope they understand how this impacts people's lives. I am a single person, who shelled out 1000's of dollars for my dog so she could live. I really hope they stop pointing blame at the innocent consumers. If you really want to make it right..Puppy Petite...then do the right thing and reimburse people and investigate your breeders. God is watching you.
Its been over a year, And this consumer has yet to bring the issue to court as she said she would. The bottom line is that she didnt care for the dog properly, Thus the dog going into sugar shock
(Hypoglycemia) and wants to blame everyone but herself, posting this story on every website she could find.
If the dog really had what she says it does, why didnt she move foward with legal action? We both have copies of the pathologists report that says the dog was diagnosed with juvanile hypoglycemia which is brought upon from improper care of the puppy.

Puppy Boutique (Petite) is by far one of the most reputable pet stores in New York. I have personally seen their store and reviewed their vaccination and worming schedules. The puppies are well cared for and the store immaculately clean. In regards to her complaint , I have reviewed all the medical records and there is absolutely no proof that the puppy died of a congenital problem. I feel badly that she had a problem, but I find puppy boutique puppies to be in excellent health.
