Providian National Bank

I got a restricted phone call and then an unknown phone call that left a message telling me to call 888-675-****. The man on the phone said that he was collecting a debt for Provision National Bank. He said the amount of the debt was $9000.00 and if I didn't pay it that they would put a lien on my home and sue me for $19,000.00. The man also had my social security number.

Dobernman lawfirm is garnishing my wages sayimg for old providian account

Doberman Law Firm is garnishing my wages for 7000 some odd dollars for a credit card or something they say I had with Providian in 2002 I don't remember having any credit card with them I've never had a credit card over for $500 limit and the Judgment that they had says 3,000 some dollars so none of this makes sense I'm trying to get a hold of Providian which I don't think they're in business anymore to see if they have any record of me because I think I'm getting scammed in my money is being taken

I don't remember having this account

Providian National Bank - I don't remember having this account
I'm trying to remember what I had this account for because I remember this bank at all. Was it a credit card or something. What I had this account for? Can someone tell me something?

Sure, what do you want someone on a PUBLIC message board that has nothing to do with this bank to tell you. If you didn't sign up for it, close the thing down and report it as identity theft.

Quick question, why do you feel the need to post your photo on a bank complaint. POF is down the hall.

Their so called "Legal Department"

So I am reading this strand and seeing the dates on here as 2017, 2018, etc. So here is a bit of info, in case you all have not gotten any sound information.

Providian Bank is no longer! Washington Mutual bought them out, and that includes their credit card division, back in 2005. These people are scammers across the board! Even IF you did have a credit card with them, AND owed money to them, for a debt owed this far back, in ANY state, you (and they) have exceeded the statue of limitations to collect on a debt.

The very SECOND you entertain the notion of paying anyone (and i mean any debt period) with a debt past your legal states "collection statue" you are doing what they call "re-aging" your debt. THEN and only then does it become a valid debt again. So, JUST SAY NO, and hang up the phone. Now a bit more education that you can give these "lawyers" that are trying to threaten you by coming to your house, your place of work.

Unless they have a subpoena in their hand they are not allowed to do that, PERIOD! If they are threatening that, ask them what court they intend on placing this "filing" with. When they say they dont have a subpoena, then that is a physical threat to you and you can file, even with just a phone number, to you local police department. A detective can call phone companies and ask for phone number information as well as IP addresses for those who think they are safe making calls from Skype and Google accounts.

Everything is tractable! Now, in 2007 JP Morgan Chase purchased Wamu and then from there assumed all credit cards debts and issues, but the fun thing is that by the time JP got a hold of those accounts most were cut up as a loss because the statue of limitations did not allow them to collect on them any further. THAT is not to say they did not sell those accounts to slimy people like this, but what you are getting is those nasty, dirty, bottom feeder crooks and scammers trying to make you pay on something to make it new so they can legally collect on it! If you can pry as much information out of them, maybe pretend that you are going to pay it and ask where to send the money order, then that just gives you more fire power.

If you are getting the calls on a cell phone, down load a phone call recorder to have even more evidence. When people like this get popped, all their money goes into a victims fund and distributed back to people who paid in.

So, report it here, report it to the fair credit people, to the BBB, report it to your local police. Safe guard yourself because they really do have your information and can try to harm you if they get that nasty.

Received a call from a so called private investigator stating that I would be served for a civil suit from Providian Nat'l Bank for a cc from 2000. That she said closed in 2017.

With the amount of over $4,500. All untrue. SCAM of some type, I imagine. She had my address, phone, county, d/o/b, and last four of ss#.

I do not recall any such account from 24 years ago. SOL would have expired long ago, anyway. And it looks like PNB is out of business. Weird that she asked for nothing just saying I'd be served for a civil suit.

I'm assuming it's so type of scam. Similar to other posts I'm reading from a few years ago.

I guess these scammers are still up to no good. I'll just wait to see what's next, if anything since I told her that's this was ridiculous.

I was called and threatened with litigation yesterday so I paid them. SAS was the name of the company. They said I owed on a credit card from Providian Financial Card through Chase Bank from 2001, which I never owned. I was so afraid that they were going to ruin my credit and garnish my wages and put a lien on my house, so I paid it. It was over $1,300.

A caller claiming to be on the behalf of Providian credit card called and threatened to freeze my account if I did not give them 1k+ of a outstanding 3k+ debt right then. But after talking to Providian via your guys website I now have it on recording that they would report such a transaction through a credit agency and try to contact me personally before selling the debt to a third party company.

The only thing is now I have to tell the credit agencies that my SSN may now be compromised.

The original call was threatening and intrusive to a point where they pretty much used scare tactics to extort the money from me. Even went to the point of threatening with court action to get money from me.

I got a call from a Collections Agency who are collecting on the behalf of Providian National Bank...I paid them off in 2012/2013...It was a Visa credit card for 1000.00, they sent me a letter back then to pay off at a discounted price so I agreed to it and I made the money orders out to Providian National Bank...Now I am getting letters from them saying I now owe over 1464.00 dollars...

I just got a call from a so called Lawyer for Providian , said I owed $2.000 but going to put a judgement against me for $8,244. LOL I have never heard of Providian or Washington National .

He was mean and rude and wanting me to pay it. NOT!

Guest

I just got a call from someone trying to collect on a Providian Card from 15 years ago. Threatening to garnish wages, and put a lien on my property.

Pretty sure I told him toF—k off!

Statute of limitations is 5 years in my state. Unbelievable!

Providian Sucks

I feel exploted by providian. I paid off a collections account that they did not apply appropriately. Now that keep selling my account to other collection agencies to try to make me pay the money again. They have been doing this since 2005. They have filed a judgement against me in a state where I dont even live, so now I have to travel to another state to fight this situation. This is exploitation in the worst way. They should be ashamed of how they purposfully try to disenfranchize consumers. This should be illegal. Who stands up for the rights of the consumers?

I was contacted by a company stating that I would be served regarding a Providian account. Stating they had no contact with me sine 2015.

I haven't had anything to do with Providian for well over 12 years.

Stated they will be taking me to court since I would not agree to pay the ridiculous amount they said I owed. I don't have anything like this on my credit reports - what is up with these rude people???
