Oconomowoc Memorial: Worst Care in the Area
In April 2008, my father fell and injured his spinal cord. He went to the ER at Oconomowoc Memorial complaining of severe pain in his arms, as if they were burning. They ignored his complaint and didn't order any tests. They sent him home. After the pain continued, he saw his PCP, and that doctor discovered he had a severe spinal cord injury and needed immediate neurological surgery to repair the damage before he was paralyzed. After the surgery he had severe complications and went back to Oconomowoc Memorial's ER. After sending him home a SECOND time, nearly dead, they called my mom at home and told her to bring him back because they found out 48 hours later he was suffering from salmonella poisoning and needed to be hospitalized. They are the WORST ever.

We experienced the same terrible treatment for my mother. They don't seem to care for the older generation.
I am so sorry to read your experience.
My mother had a heart attack and was living a reasonably content life until we got Pro Health in home care. The doctors are PRO DEATH and 3 times pushed for us to let her die when the problem was unregulated furosemide.
The doctors put her on palliative care when we got in home care secretly and made every effort to keep this secret which wasn't found out until after she died a horrible death.
Instead of dying quickly, Mom thrived, until she became septic. The very nurses that were to work to oversee her health and well being were working against her to let her die. She became septic, got pneumonia, a raging urinary tract infection and was severely anemic requiring a transfusion.
Doctors threatened Mom's well being if POA (her spouse) didn't find the paperwork indicating he had poa even though is was clearly stated in their computer system. The doctors admitted her for severe mental problems when all these other conditions were the problem. Their motive was to kill her. A port was placed in her neck to (prepare her for morphine secretly) immediately at OMH, but told the family her veins were narrow and this would make it easier to do an IV.
Doctors had pushed us to let mother die again and again and again. The hospital didn't feed her enough or neglected to altogether if family wasn't around, and she complained of always being hungry. Reading the reports about mother, were horrifying as all were written to support end stage dementia (which she did NOT have). She was lucid and coherent despite the raging, treatable infection.
Mom took an unexpected turn for the worst when we said she would be taken home. She was improving one day, and the next looked like death, but only after the doctors were told we wanted to take her home instead of going to the rehab. facility. We were talked into hospice under false pretenses.
We were told she would have even better accommodations except I.V.'s . Instead, mom was written off all life sustaining medications again secretly. We desperately tried to help her when we realized we had been duped by everybody. She was rushed to Aurora but her body was shutting down.
The neck port was replaced (due to it being a site of potential infection) and they had NO trouble putting an IV in her arm.
When we tried to get Mom's records to investigate the situation, we were sent on a wild goose chase (wrong office, wrong paperwork, wrong wrong wrong) The clerk listened into a private conversation of exasperation and accused my father and myself of being a threat to them and pulled the alarm. We left and were jerked around with the records again and again because we were a supposed threat.
This place is a PATHETIC JOKE!
Even at hospice she was charged for acute care when all they did was give one medication and a sedative and morphine. SHE NEVER RECIEVED ACUTE CARE EITHER but was billed as such. Can you say FRAUD?
Everything was a lie. They have had numerous cases of infection and sepsis and I wonder why.
Seems like they fail more than succeed with the critically chronically ill and the elderly.
Sickening. I wouldn't recommend this HOUSE OF HORRORS to anybody.
