Verified ReviewerI was hoodwinked and I regret it.
I didn't seek them out. They sought me out.
They had a good pitch and I bought it, primarily because I had a great commercial utility vehicle I was trying to sell in Hawaii in a limited market on Craigslist. They saw an opportunity to take advantage and they did. I knew I was in a limited market and I was willing to gamble the dice for $600 to see if a national exposure in an online auction (automatically repeating) would be worth it. I paid the business on 12/20/23 the fee.
On 1/4/24, the same individual contacted me, very excited and talking about a "bidding war" going on with my truck and possibly getting more than what was 'reserved'. I needed to pay up another $1500 right away for reasons I really wasn't clear as it was also kind of late at night and I was going through cancer treatments. I had my wife pay immediately. I never heard from the man again.
I sold the truck myself 2 months later.
I wrote the company and another man told me to send the notarized bill of sale and he would get my $1500 back. I never heard from him again through email or text after several attempts.
- Deceptive
- Created urgency and lies to get more money and fees
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Sellers Beware! Don't be fooled by auctioneer scammers, especially if they seek you out.
