Verified ReviewerFailed to find the source of the leak
- Payment required before starting; 3% credit card fee charged.
- Service agreement with no guarantee; methods missed an obvious tub-floor crack.
SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND.
1. Pearson Ritenburgh demands payment prior to starting or services rendered.
(unheard of and highly questionable tactic)
2. If you use a credit card, he charges a 3% processing fee.
3. He makes you sign a "service agreement" before he starts to claim there's no guarantee, which is an extremely weak clause.
He came out and did a traditional water test for 1.5 hours, nothing fancy, a test anyone could've done (run the shower, fill the tub and run the mixing valve).
According to his website, he uses "advanced technology such as acoustic sensors, infrared cameras, and pressure testing to pinpoint the exact source of the problem without causing unnecessary damage." to detect leaks. He admitted he didn't use any of the tools/equipment when I asked how he verified the leak was between the shower head and mixing valve if he didn't use any special tools/equipment.
Made me suspicious and questioned his methods. He said it's fairly common the leaks are usually between those two areas.
Regardless, we took his word, experience and expertise at face value. We had to spend more money/time to verify his findings with a few different plumbers based on his recommendation.
Guess what? There were no leaks between the shower head or mixing valve.
Both plumbers found an obviously cracked tub floor and that was the source of the water leak. How did he miss such an obviously large crack that was over 8 inches? It's his job to detect leaks. Unfortunately for us, his error will cost us additional thousands of dollars to mitigate and replace his water testing.
He completely failed to do his job adequately and his "investigative" methods failed to find the source of the leak while running the water for 1.5 hrs.
We strongly question his "expertise" in "accurately" detecting leaks, at least in our situation.
You could probably DIY stuff like this if you watch YouTube, search online or ask your favorite AI buddy. I wished I did. Buyer's Remorse.
No need to pay $500-$800 unnecessarily. SAVE YOUR $$$$$!
- Prepay before starting service
- Poor service
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: watch youtube, search online, or ask your favorite AI buddy, trust your gut, ask lots of questions
