Lack of refund

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Princeton offers a money back guarantee if the student's SAT scores do not improve. The first day of class, the teacher did not even show up.

My daughter's score did not improve and when I went to claim my refund, did I get the runaround. They have even stopped responding to my emails and phone calls. When you get someone on the line, they ask for the same info over and over again, then keep you on hold in one instance, thirty six minutes. They have well trained to wear the consumer down, however in this instance I am going to proceed legally.

Parents, please listen. Look for alternative tutors.

Wheni called up Princeton Review for ACS, someone told me that the total package costs 6000. When I called up again to verify, they said that it's 15000 and i should enroll immediately to grab the discount.

So, i made a friend call them up again (on the same day) to cross check, this time they said that the package costs 24,000. Clearly, Princeton Review is a complete fraud.

The online GRE course is offered in a poorly designed website. It is difficult to maneuver among the different subject sections and to determine where you are in the course. Instruction videos in each subject matter are on how to game the test. They are not preparation or refresher seminars.

Subscribers are given a short time to use the product, before the expensive subscription ends. The 120 day subscription is not well advertised and begins the moment the online product is purchased.

Save your money and just purchase prep books.

Manya Group services total waste

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I happened to enroll in Manya group - Kormangala Bangalore for GRE coaching in March 2015. The learning materials they had and the concepts they covered were actually very less when compared to what I got in my final exam day. The tutor who handled my math class did not explain the concepts at all. She just jumps into the questions in the book and solve them and finish the class. The tutors just know to solve the problems which is in the book.If you ask someting other than that problem they will tell you that they will get back on this but that good day will never come. The verbal tutor went for a 20 days vacation and hence we need to go beyond the scheduled timeline to complete the classes. The tutors were not competent enough for this job. It is better if we can search for materials online study on your own rather that wasting 18K for the classes here.

And the ACS service just sucks. When counselling for the ACS service. They asked us to pay fees and start the essay editing as soon as possible before taking the GRE exam , since it will take time to go for editing and stuffs. So I paid the money to start the editing as early as possible. I was assigned a co-ordinator and she asked me a questionnaire regarding my profile . I asked her to assign me a editor and start the essay and resume preparation. She told me that a editor will be assigned only after me taking the GRE exam. I had to argue with them to assign an editor. And the editor was sooo horrible they give all promises but you have to run behind their back until the last minute to get an incomplete essay. Then I sat and finished them by myself. They did not help me with the mock Visa interview as well. they did not send me anything regarding the VISA interview as they promised. It is totally a waste of time and money to invest on them.

Put in a sprinkler room with broken chairs and no AC

I signed up for a GRE course with The Princeton Review. I want to be an engineer.

Our first class was cancelled. I show up for the second 'first class' and can't find the room. The hotel clerk shows me to this tiny room that says Sprinkler Room. WTF.

All these other people show up and there end up being seven people sitting at one small table. And half the chairs are broken. And there is no AC. For 3 hours.

The teacher person had this dinky little board to write on and it kept falling over. She gave us a break and then went to the other room which was nice and took their board.

Which was better I guess. For $1000, I expect more.

Cancelled Test Last Minute

Worst customer service experience I have ever had. I registered for an in person class with the Princeton Review starting in late August for the October LSAT.

They called me up a week before the class was supposed to start to let me know that they were cancelling the class. I asked what my other options would be this late in August and the representative suggested that I take their online course. When I explained to him that I wasn't comfortable taking an online class and asked if there were any other options he informed me that I could look into other companies. I told him that they had the latest course start date which is why I had chosen their program.

He then informed me that as unfortunate as that was, his company was not legally liable for this issue. I now have to reschedule my LSAT for December.

The Princeton Review not only cost me time and aggravation but roughly $84.00 in rescheduling fees as well. To add insult to injury, I am responsible for shipping their class materials back to the company.

Princeton Review

Last year I signed my son up for their program. During the sign-up phase I was informed that my son could take the courses as many times as needed to assist with ACT prep.

My son completed his first program in 8/12. I have been calling and leaving many messages with the local Denver office for my son to take additional classes (as promised during the original sign-up) with zero calls back.

When I call the national sales office (they must work on commission) to get assistance and explained my issue the national sales office just hung up in my ear. Do not use this program to assist your children with any prep classes, once they get your money they will leave you high and dry.

SAT PREP is INADEQUATE

i paid for small class tutoring for the SAT. 8 students were in the class even though their website claims only 4 per teacher.

I was to get customized tutoring and asked for preparation for critical reading. The teacher ignored my request. When I tried to follow through with the warranty to take additional classes for up to a year, i was denied because I missed a class.

The teacher did not show up to a class and did not provide notification as to the rescheduled class. THEY LIE DO NOT USE THEM, use someone else for your SAT prep

Charged for services and never delivered. Refusing to refund money as well

My friend had taken their application help services. He paid 36k for 5 apps.

After this, Princeton assigned him a couselor who at first kept trying to convince him to apply to colleges where he was not interested. Apparently, the application for those college was shorter and easier. Finally, when they started work on the applications, they delivered too late and the quality of the work delivered was very very bad. I know the fact coz after going thru his essays, I could let him apply with those shabby essays and had to write them all over again on the last day.

Not only did their essays have grammatical errors, they had spelling mistakes as well. In the name of editing, all they had done was bring down the word count to the acceptable limit. Somethingw which seems to be done probably using the 'Word Summarize' technique.

I would not recommend anyone to use their services.

You can get in touch with me if you want to know further. My email id is jainsurbhee@***.com

I thought I would check up on the net if his was an isolated case.

I was thinking about approcahing them for help on my apps. Thanks for the inputs

The Princeton Review India Manya Group is a waste

On 21/02/2008 I registered for the GMAT course offered by The Princeton Review in conjunction with the Manya Group in Hyderabad.

The previous day when I met Mr.Prasad, the front office man at Greenlands branch,Hyderabad, I made it very clear that I was in India for a holiday and would be taking up residence abroad . He told me that

a) I could avail of ongoing coaching anywhere in the world for a further year should I not be satisfied with my score; provided I wrote the GMAT within two weeks of the course ending.

b) Should the course not be completed for any reason on their part , I could transfer to another center (abroad) without extra cost.

c) When I pointed out there was no center in Sweden of TPR he said I could do it online.

To me this sounded like a very concerned and involved coaching group.

When I started the course I was given a schedule of course work. The second weekend when I reached the center with my assignment ready I was informed that since the rest of the class had not done it no discussion would take place. I also found that the Math classes started half an hour late. I was told to meet a Mr. Vinod Kumar concerning this matter. His attitude was to attack me and tell me that the schedule handed out was wrong and I was supposed to do something else! And if there were any doubts to be cleared concerning the course work he could do it or another faculty member could do it by previous appointment. At which point my parent had to tick him off and tell him to put his house in order instead of trying to intimidate me and cover up for their short comings. The math’s teacher would not clarify doubts as the class progressed. One was supposed to accumulate a number of “doubts” and then ask for a clarification!

On 27/04/2008 I did a TPR test and found that I scored 700.I took the exam on 29/04/2008 and scored 640. This score being far from the 30 points, either way swing, I was told to expect.

On 30/04/2008 when I called up saying that I would be availing of their one year extension because I had written the GMAT within nine days of the end of the course and that i was not satisfied with my mark. I also informed him that the actual format of the gmat was very different to that of the course. Vinod Kumar ‘s immediate response was that

a) Manya Group could not help me.

b) That two students had scored 710 and 720 on the day I wrote the GMAT and that a faculty ,member had scored 780 on taking the test during the month. In the eight years that he has been working for the Manya group he has never seen a 60 point decline in score from the TPR test. In short implying I was incompetent and the format was as per TPR tests. I would like to state here that I have a First Class BA(Hon) from the Middlesex University, UK, and I am just twenty years old!

On further conversation he said that the Manya Group operated only in India and that I could avail of their services only in India. That online support would cost me another Rs.25,000/-. I could only avail of online support without shelling out another 25,000/- in the following manner.

a)I email my doubts to a faculty member and they clear the doubt whenever they think fit to reply to that email.

b)I could clear my doubts via telephone… an international call would be just fine! On my expense by the way.

c)I cannot use instant messenger as the faculty was not available on IM.

Terms and Conditions on the Bill issued by The Manya Group Says clearly

“4. Satisfaction Guarantee Clause:The clause is only applicable to students who attend all classes, follow instructions as directed by the faculty, do the homework on time, take the practice tests as per schedule and take the test immediately after completing the course.(applicable for the SAT, GRE and GMAT)” Note that it does not specify in what way these extra classes can be done.

I have stuck to these conditions and also paid up money upfront. The only clause that works against me is their no refund policy.

I advice anyone thinking about taking a course with TPR and Manya Group not to do so. Firstly, their materials are outdated and secondly they refuse to stick with their original contract.

Dear,

completely agree to you because now i am facing the worst time with princeton Hyderabad madhavpur. Dont know how Indian Government is ignoring such cheaters trying to fool innocent public.

i felt this is not a place for study even for free.

unprofessional and irresponsible etc.... , i dont want to scold them here its better to take a serious matter and appeal to indian government to take any action to stop cheating public in the name of educational institute.

Another interesting thing about the GRE. Most colleges don't care! When I called one of my prosepective graduate schools they said that the GRE is usually the last thing they look at when deciding whether or not to accept you

hey stop complaining your score depends on your abilities nd how u perform on the day of the exam. Yes as a matter of fact they have deceived u bt still how can u blame them for a bad result.Stop crying over spilt milk and start preparing harder. And have a little maturity to understand when somebody is fooling you because the promises made by them were too much for the little amount you paid!

Guest

I agree with many of the complaints.

I took the GRE package which was somewhat useful because of practice tests available and also how to go about with questions.

The ACS package was complete and utter ***. It sucks! First they assign a counsellor who tells you 'you have to improve your profile'... and doesn't do much else.

Then they will let you select only 5 universities - not more. And among those, most of it was ***. Some random Bgrade universities whereas with my 9gpa and 1paper i could apply for better places.

Also, the editor i was first assigned was decent. and then, for reasons unknown i was assigned another editor who decided she could call me ANY FRAKKING time of the day. once i picked up and told her i was busy, she wouldn't stop talking. fyi, i was at my brother's poonal ceremony. i disconnected on her.

I decided to let them fo and used edulix which is highly recommended.

Anyone, please do not be fooled by their money making business of Manya Aroad.

I hired them for my applications to business school. Without any doubt, they are the worst service providers.

You are far better off without Manya (Princeton). Don't let them fool you with the fancy 'princeton' name.

Guest

Whoa! After reading these comments I think I'll go with Kaplan. It's to scary to take a chance on Princeton Review, these classes are not cheap and I'm searching for a private tutor.

Guest

Manya group ACS services sucks.I faced excessive delays in their ACS services and happened to waste an entire year because of it. only 20% of students enroll gets the actual benifit.
