Prescriba Rx/MemberHealth not processing reimbursement for 11 months.
My elderly mother (age 95) for whom I have Power of Attorney is on the Low Income Subsidy (LIS) with Medicare/Medicade. She was approved for this subsidy effective Nov. 2008. She continued to pay the full price for her medications through Medicare Part D for November 2008 through March 2009 due to an error in processing by Medicaid. This error was corrected in April 2009 and she was automatically refunded the overpayment for March. However, I have been trying since April to get her reimbursements for November, December, January, and February - she did finally receive November and December in September but she still has not received January and February. Prescriba RX (Medicare D provider) insisted that I complete a form for reimbursement which did not apply to the situation at all but I finally complied on August 5th. I have called Prescriba about once a week and still do not have the check from them. I have been told that it takes 30 to 60 days to process a claim and they cannot give me any information other than that. The 30-60 days expired a long time ago! Customer service reps are courteous but totally incompetent and will not/cannot allow me to speak to the department that handles reimbursements. I have tried calling MemberHealth who are the administrators for Universal America/Prescriba Rx/CCRX and can only get the automated system that transfers me to the same incompentant people at Prescriba Rx. I finally filed a grievance with Prescriba Rx on October 14 and received a call around October 16th promising a follow-up call in one week - alas, no follow-up call yet. I have a file that is 1 inch thick regarding this problem but it would take too much space to document all the dates and results of my calls. I will continue my efforts in getting this refund and hope that others will take this problem into account when choosing a Medicare D company.
