Power Fitness - Review in Fitness Centers category from Iona, Florida

Power Fitness (DBA under Jenavo Health & Fitness, LLC) apparently has a lame duck powerless owner, Gus, who lies about whether he is a decision maker or not, and thinks it's funny to crumple a requested flier from an outside sales rep, and toss it back at him. When I saw how he treated another person making a living, obviously following an appointment with the other owner, I was disappointed, and will choose not to return to his gym.

First he said he was not the decision maker, then followed by saying he *** was. Not the ethics or manners of someone I want to trust with my health and fitness.

Located in Kissimmee, Florida, in a little plaza on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, this business has a "leader" (Gus) breaking trust in a field that requires trust. He will lose more customers than just our family. We wish him better business practices with the next people, no matter who they may be, rather than the goofy macho garbage he displayed today.

As for our friends and associates, they will be steered clear of his dishonest, unprofessional, two-faced tactics. Our advice for Gus: Get some ethics and manners, or lose more customers. Kissimmee's word of mouth has far more power than "Power Fitness". Any business loses power and momentum when it breaks basic social and ethical codes.

There are many good books on the topic of ethics and manners. Gus actually could have learned from the more gentlemanly outside sales rep that he sought to bully, while looking foolish in the effort, as the man graciously stood his ground with clarity and dignity. Unfortunately, this owner didn't seem to appreciate the presence of another alpha male, and is now too big and too old for a kindergarten refresher on life's basic social skills. However, there are many books to help him with Business 101.

Best wishes for better manners, to Gus, and to all owners who falsely imagine they are everybody's boss and bully. An aspiring bully, in a professional setting, often just looks silly. You're no kind of partner if you don't honor your partner's wishes, and you're not much of a chief if you think bullying is clever or funny, and you're not much of a businessman if you don't honor someone else arriving as a potential provider for you in due diligence. Anyone with any knowledge or appreciation of outside sales would have seen a masterpiece of mission and composure versus a breakdown in ethics and manners.

The brick and mortar man was the loser. His customers wouldn't think much of him if he treated them with such disrespect or dishonor, but apparently that's where he likes to shine his good face, if their money is the only reason he shows respect or honor. That kind of sketchy leadership is powerless, lacks ethics and heart, reeks of a double standard, and is a big loser of our trust and future business. Fair warning to all owners of this nature: You lose when you think you win such foolish battles by such foolish means.

Lay off the macho sideshow with outside sales people. You prove nothing but your own ignorance. They work for a living, too, and you are selling also. So have a heart and treat the traveler with decent respect and decent manners.

You are no bigger or better just because you lease a location. Let the dialogue be true and professional.

Or you will appear foolish and two-faced, possibly in front of your workers and customers. Small Business America needs leaders, not pretenders.
