Had money stolen from my account called loss prevention. Never got money returned and bank account was overdrawn and closed

I have been going thru a divorce. My soon to be ex wife had me arrested took my phone and other possessions. Electronically transferred money into her account. Made several other purchases. I called loss preventions made a claim they said they would help me get my money back. They gave her all the money and are trying to charge me fees. I was in jail. I have all the paperwork proving it was not me and still I am left with the bill. I lost over $7000.

User's recommendation: Do not use PFFC there are no protocols. There is no guarantee they will stand by your side.

As a huge proponent of credit unions, this is one to stay away from. Yeah, it's great that they make Police and Fire Fighters (vol. FF for me) the main focus of their business, it is almost impossible to do business with them without going to a branch. You can deposit...

Coin counter

You know what’s ridiculous I recently closed my account at pffcu . I went to cash in some coin and they were trying to charge me $20 when I had $28.85. So I asked for the manager @ Castor ave branch and she Informed me it was policy for a coin counter to charge me $20 to use the counter if I don’t have a account. So they force you to open an account to not charge you. So I opened one got my money and closed it same day. PFFCU you really know how to screw people...

I have been with PFFCU for over 5 years since that time I have applied several times for loans. The last loan I was denied I spoke to someone at the branch. They explained to me what I need to do in Order to get an approval, in which I did. When I applied again for a home equity just recently I was still denied. My combined credit score was 620. When I spoke to a loan Officer (Louis Picciano) at branch he was very short and brief with me. Piccianco told me that they used my experian credit score and they didn't used the combination of all 3 bureaus. I explained to him that I been on my job for over 17yrs, a home owner, just paid off a 6yrs auto loan and a member for over 5yrs. I also told him I was dissatisfied with the service and was seeking business elsewhere. He said ok and hung up the the phone. PFFCU customer service sucks do they think they have so many customers they can get away with rude behaviors. I'm done with PFFCU my next step is to send a complaint to the corporate office.

The Credit Union has changed since I joined in 2009. Originally, it acted like a typical Credit Union and you were treated like a partner, around 2014 new management took over and decided they wanted to be a bank as opposed to a credit union.

Service has become oppositional, they do very little to assist and they are very credit tight.

Their underwriters have no interest in maintaining business with the average customer. They are no longer a credit union, they are a bank and the service I get at Wells Fargo is far better then provided by Police and Fire...

They are a bunch of poorly trained employees who make huge mistakes due to lack of common sense and try to cover their own backsides with lies. Tons of lies.

Massive ridiculous lies. I had one fresh ignoramus ask me if I am a real teacher or a volunteer while he was looking at my income. Of course I have more education in one hand than this *** and probably make more money since he is really just a cashier.

This is the level of individuals you will deal with here . Trash.

Pffcu is by far the most fraudulent underhanded no ethics no compassion. They literally took me to a settlement table mind you one i did not deserve to be at to NOT EVEN LET ME SETTLE.

THEY LIED DENIED STOPPDD ANSWERING THEIR PHONES AND THEIR ATTORNEY CONTACTED INVESTORS THE NIGHT BEFORE MY SETTLEMENT TO ANNOUNCE THAT YES MY HOUSE WOULD BE UP FOR AUCTION ON THE TUESDAY THE VERY NEXT DAY OF MY FAILED SETTLEMENT. AGAIN ..ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WOULD NOT LET ME SETTLE ALTHO TO QUOTE LET THAT EQUITY WORK FOR YOU GIRL . THE ONLY WORK WAS TRYING NOT TO KILL MYSELF AS I WAS TAKEN ON A HORRENDOUS TRAINWRECK STARTING IN 2014. I WAS MISSED 2 PAYMENTS..HAD ONE PAYMENT IN MY POCKET.

UNDER SCOPE OF LAW AND THEIR JOB YES WAS AN OPTION. NO WAS GIVEN. I SAID DO U KNOW WHAT THIS IS GONNA DO TO ME REPLY WAS YES. 5 YEARS LATER THAT NO DESTROYED MY HOME MY MORALE IT TOOK MY HOME OF 16 YEARS BY WRONGFUL FORECLOSURE.

THEY SAY PAYMENTS ARE MISSING WHEN THEIR OWN TRANSACTIONS HISTORY SAY PAID UP TO DATE.

I WOULD LOVE TO SPEAK TO OTHERS AND IM GOING TO NOT LET THEM DO THIS TO ANYONE ELSE IF I CAN DO ONE THING. IM CONTACTING MANY AGENCIES TODAY.

Money manipulation

Since "updating" their online banking web site Pffcu appears to be engaging in tansaction re-ordering that increases consumer costs: The CFPB is concerned that overdraft practices employed by some financial institutions increase consumer costs. One such practice is commingling of all checks, bill payments, debit card transactions, and ATM withdrawals each day and processing the largest transactions first. This maximizes the number of transactions that will trigger an overdraft fee. Essentially the CFPB has a hunch that banks are manipulating the order of your daily transactions to maximize the chances you’ll be charged an overdraft fee. The CFPB says some banks will wait until the end of the day to deduct your daily purchases and start with the biggest purchase first. That allows the bank to collect and overdraft fee two times instead of one. I have had numerous purchases made that according to my bank statement leave me with a positive balance but then a fee is withdrawn for the transaction When I question the credit union they always come back with some explanation as to how the deposit was actually made after the transaction took place but the retailor did not remove the funds from my account until some time later.( Pffcu also did not remove the funds from my available balance). So I made the transaction lacking in funds and a check is deposited before the funds leave my account and you charge me a fee because on paper I had no funds. Oh I get it -- The retailor not collecting the funds immediately should HELP me!! Pure manipulation!!!

Pffcu Terrible customer service

My 19 year old son received a letter from Philadelphia Pffcu regarding a breach of info on his debit card and a new one being issued. He never received the card so first I call the credit union and am told they cannot discuss it with me. My son calls back and some know it all named Kia answers the phone. He gives her his account number and tries to give her permission to speak to me regarding the letter. He then says to me "What are the last 4 digits of my SS number?" I give them to him. Not at all uncommon for a college student to not know his social since colleges and financial institutes no longer use them. No one does. So big ears Kia hears me and asks my son who gave him the info. He tells Kia his mom and giant FBI know it all thinks she discovered a scam She starts asking SECURITY questions that make no sense Where does his father work ? For the police but how would she know and IF he could join one branch of Pffcu which one would he choose (oh so tricky since members have access to all branches). My son answers army since he has no idea what she is talking about. I then take the phone and ask about the letter. Kia cannot talk to me.She then goes on with crazy questions and asks my son where he works, also unknown info to her and finally asks him to get a copy of his account which he does. He rattles off to her every transaction on it. She then states she cannot speak to my him about his account because he does not know the account number but HE gave it to her at the beginning of the call. Obviously Kia at this point is stuck so she puts my son on hold. This is a 20 minute phone call to a moron. He hangs up and I call back get another rep and info in 20 seconds. To top it off my son gets a "secret call" on his cell phone to let him know to call Jessica back for info on the FBI letter. Well I call back. She tells me for security reasons they do not ask for birth dates or addresses but instead use "OFF THE POCKET QUESTIONS" since address etc can be stolen. So I ask about using a SS number, like they are never stolen. That is somehow "off the pocket" whatever that is. Of course Jessica has no explanation for why the mailed debit card is missing. Perhaps a breach in security? According to Jessica, KIa did not believe my son because she could hear me in the background answering questions. So what? There is some law against that. I also inquired as to if she has children but she refuses to answer. She tells me that is irrelevant and if my son cannot handle the questions he should not have an account by himself. He should have one with me. Real wise ***. I of course tell her he is a student at La Salle University and is probably smarter than she is (obviously. Jessica suddenly became very angry and hung up on me . Her number is 267-332-****. Call her with your security questions. .

First of all if Pffcu security is so great why did a security breach lead for the need to issue new debit cards? And how in the world is asking for a social security number an "off the pocket" question?

What is an "off the pocket" question? These are just some questions that come to me off the cuff. LOL.

I find my remark professional and courteous while being helpful and quick!! Your welcome.

#1181698

I see some real problems with the customer service and how this phone call was handled. Since the request was only in reference to when a debit card should arrive in the mail the customer service rep was way out of line.

Was there a request to send the card to another person or a different address than that of the account holder? Was there any reference made to the cash balance in the account or any request for a withdraw or transfer of funds? If not the call was basically a request for information on when or if the card should have been received at the account holders residence.

The service rep probably did not even need to speak to the account holder to provide that information and really the line of questioning sounds ridiculous.

#994830

Speaking as someone who has had an account with pffcu since I was a child, I can honestly say I have never had any issue with their customer service, including with an incident of possible fraud. I did not have my account information or ssn memorized while in college either, but I did at least have the sense to have both in front of me before I called the bank so that I could read them off.

If your son is old enough and "smart" enough to be in college, he should also be able to manage a phone call to the bank on his own. Not to mention, if he really couldn't, then he should put you on as a secondary account holder (my father had that status until I was 18 when my parents encouraged me to be independent with my finances.) All this story did was make me feel safer knowing customer service won't give out my informaruin to suspicious callers.

@PissedConsumer994830

So a parent in the background indicates a security breach and what college student knows where their social security card is? You must have been some college geek. Your father was on your account till you where 18 but encouraged you tto be independent with your "finances" you work for the bank don't you Just admit it Jessica

Why bother with passwords and codes when any business that you deal with can make a withdrawal from your account by "authorizing the item and present it processing"? I sent my complaint at about 12 am the night before.

Of course the company would not send any documents. YOU HAVE TO REQUEST THEM.

PFFCU Member Service

PFFCU would like to thank you for your recent email.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. However, the merchant would not send any documentation regarding the transaction as they authorize the item and present it processing. If you believe this transaction to be fraudulent, we strongly suggest that you shut down the PFFCU debit card.

Please note that shutting down the debit card will not stop any current pending charges from posting to the account. To shut down the debit card, please select 'Account Services' and then 'Card Maintenance'. This will show your active cards on your account. Please select the card you wish to shut down and submit.

To order a new card, please contact PFFCU at 215-931-**** or 800-228-**** or apply online through our website. Under Services, click on PFFCU Debit Card. Click Apply Now. Select New Debit Card.

Fill in the requested information and scroll to bottom of page and click Submit Application. Once this has been completed, new cards will be ordered and sent to your home address. Please allow 7 to 10 business days to receive them in the mail. You may also visit any one of our 12 convenient branches to pick up a new card.

There is a $3 fee for each new card that is ordered. We also ask that you please visit any one of our convenient branches to file a debit denial to further investigate this charge. If you are unable to visit a branch, you may contact us at 215-931-**** or 800-228-**** and ask to speak Loss Prevention Department to send out forms.

Thank you for choosing PFFCU for your financial needs. Erin Porreca, Senior Member Service Representative

YE I NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH PFFCU. I HAD POOR CREDIT IN THE PAST AND NEEDED A PERSONAL LOAN, AND AFTER BEING RIGHTFULLY DENIED I SPOKE TO A MANAGER WHO WAS WILLING TO GIVE ME A CHANCE AND GAVE ME A LOAN.

ALSO I THINK YOUR SON IS OLD ENOUGH (SINCE U SAID HES A COLLEGE STUDENT) TO HANDLE HIS OWN BUSINESS AND SHOULDNT NEED HIS MOTHER TO MAKE PHONE CALLS FOR HIM. AND HE SHOULD DEFINATELY KNOW HIS OWN SSN!!
